Title: Lures for edibles
Post by: Dooma on June 03, 2011, 05:42:33 PM
Hi Guys.
The Fishermans Christmas is fast approaching, the season when we stoke the fires of desire to catch fish, sardine season.
Question is, what do you feel is the best lure to target edibles, especially Garrick during this time and what sort of retrieval rate should one be using?
I want to target some edibles with my son and keep him keen, so need to catch some edibles, preferably Garrick, but any will do. Will be using spinning and heavy drop-shot setup.
Thanx and merry fishing season to all.
Tight lines

I like the reference to "Fisherman's Christmas" referring to the silver tide!!

Generally plugs, spoons etc. will produce Garrick, Shad, etc. and  I suggest spending a bit of time reading (and searching for) posts in this regard on this informative Forum.

Broadly speaking for Garrick, Chisel nose white plugs for working water and  Needle Nose white plugs for calmer water.

Hi PH.
Thanx for that and well noted. I have read quite a bit on it.
Have been using the Onde Onde look-a-like, chase, and Mother-of-pearl spoons of late but no hits. Have been varying the retrieval rates too.
Hence was wondering what worked around sards season as things do change around this time. Will most certainly give the chissel-nose a go, have yet to throw one of those, much obliged.
