Hi all , new to the forum. Im looking for advice on a good reel to pair with the Archipelago 11ft. Looking at Daiwa BG size 5000 , or is there a better option for around the same price?
Mainly spinning for leervis and kob. Any advice will be much appreciated😄

I had a look at the Okuma Metalloid 6000 today. Good specs , 5:4:1 ratio, 30kg drag . Would the Daiwa BG 5000 or MQ 6000 be better options?

Hi
IMO the BG5000 would suit this rod perfectly.
I had mine paired with a 5000 size Shimano, even thou it casted very nicely, I did'nt like the setup because the handle of the Shimano was very small and I felt like it lacked cranking power.
I used my brothers BG5000 on the rod and it was perfect.
I would take the rod to the tackle shop and put the reel on, then decide if you like it.

The BG5000 is a bit big for 11' rods and also a bit on the heavy side.
I will rather pair it with a BG4000.
It must be taken into account that the Daiwa BG series (BG, BG Magseal, BG MQ's) are all about the same size, but they are bigger than the same number sizes in other brnads, ie. Shimano 4000 is way smaller than the BG4000.
I use a regular size Daiwa Regal 4000 which pairs nicely with 10'6 and 10' rods, is more comparible to the BG3000/35000.
The BG4000 should really fit the 11' like a glove.

I have a Shimano Sustain 5000 and a BG4000 that I've used on the Archipelago 11' H and both these reels are well suited to this rod. The BG5000 is a bit on the heavy side IMHO. The rod is also much lighter than most rods in this class.

I use the Shimano Stradic 5000 on my archipelago 11ft Heavy. Works perfectly. I have also used my BG 4500 on the rod but it feels too big.

Daiwa BG4000 magsealed will be a great match. I am using that reel on my heavier setup and the reel is absolutely bulletproof.
