Hi everyone
What food do you carry on the boat for the day ?
We fish 3 people on board at all times, this is what we eat...
:fshn: A normal bottom fishing day session - I would just grab some energy drinks, dorritoes chips along with a pack tray of Chelsea Bun from ( engine garage corner bakery)
:fshn: A full Marlin day, trolling - I would order a burger or 2 from nandos, some shawarma and steak sandwiches from the local takeaway the night before.
:fshn: Night fishing trip - flask with coffee and a tray of Chelsea buns and some munchies
I've always been a muncher on the boat, more so with junk food like jelly tots, safari nuts, chocolate bars and chips
Share your comments on what foods you snack on the boat on your fishing trip?
Most of my fishing trips are unplanned or may I say,our trips are planned the night before,
Our fishing trip are mostly during week days where we take off from work and go fishing.
Our boat, tackle, fuel etc is always ready set, we just hitch and move.

The superstitious will never allow a banana on the boat. Banana = no fish
-
Normally just junk foods - nougat, jelly tots/babies, mint sweets - fishermans friend is the best. Also some chocolates and lots of fluids. Sandwich's are normally just Peanut Butter. We will normally stop after for a huge meal. So far not one person has been seasick.

No bananas and the night after braai meat.....boere wors will make you puke. :zipit:

Thermos of coffee/tea, rusks and fruit... I don't eat bananas even while perched on solid ground, so no worry of falling foul of the superstitions. Naartjies are a winner.

Ha. Caught a remora on a naartjie peel once.

Dubai - 6 beers, 5 litres of water, bottle of Captain and 2 litre coke for the run in - oh and a large bucket of KFC w;k

That uneventful or just that dry on land?

LOL, that hot! And a boat of likeminded Saffa's with the odd Aussie and Pom.

God blessed me with a wonderful wife that loves fresh fish, actually any seafood. So, she feeds me well to make sure I come home with something. Usually cold roast beef sandwiches with cheese, Hellmans mayo and a sprinkling of finely chopped chilies. Some battered chicken wings and a big packet of Simba chips. Cold Mountain Dew and bottled water, sorted.
I have on several occasions been a complete glutton and ate any seasick fisherman's lunch. For some inexplicable reason, they don't seem to mind???

My wife on the other hand hates fishing with a passion, even though her dad and brothers are avid deepsea fisherman
Don't ask how I hooked up and got married
I guess, it's all about how you wiggle your worm :hehe:

or chicken n mayo roll.
mainly for the afternoon and night fishing only. Nothing for morning trips
I don't like to disturb the sleeping queen 3am
In the morning asking her to cook up something (bat

Drywors works for me.. easy to eat and hold, not messy and very filling
a few frozen water bottles in the cooler.
-
Rolls either with Ham cheese or left over braai nyama, 2 packets chips, biltong, peanuts, apples, 2x 2ltr cold drink, always 4 litre water, usually always end up chowing it on the journey home in the bakkie.
-
If we are diligent, I get the kids to make up some rolls with cheese and ham or similar. Then we used to take a few bottles of water and a few cokes, but since coke went woke, they are off the menu. If we are lucky a chocolate or two. We usually shove the drinks into the fish hatch with a few bags of ice, until the first fish comes on board and then they get stashed elsewhere.

Screw coke and woke, Mountain Dew all the way...
