Title: Knot for .55 mono to 180lb braid leader

Dear Gents.
As the heading says, I want to use 180lb braided leader to .55 mono mainline.
I love the FG knot, but am not sure if it will work in this scenario?


Any advice?

But why? not saying its a k*K idea, just wondering why.Reel and rod to be used?

I have spooled some .55 mono onto my Gosa 10 000.
I want to slide, hence the mono.


The gosa's spool is getting full, and I do not want the bulky knot of a 1mm mono leader

So its kind of backwards, but I would try an Albright making the loop section with the .55 mono.

Perhaps use some HMP hollow core (its new) in 150/200lb as your leader and insert the mono into the braid for a knotless join?

Since its an experimental set up, I would think to keep the length of .55 mono to around 75-100m - just enough to give you  the stretch you need to slide.

Anyone else?

How similar are the diametres? I would probably try Uni to Uni

If the 180lb braid mentioned is what I think it is, it should be around .60mm
