Hello guys, i started fishing a few months ago and so far got nothing to show but two bites, and failed to land the bass.
I usually go for a place with rocky ground but lately i am thinking to try the beach due to the amount of times lures get stuck on rocks, and not always come off.
What i came here to ask is about retrieval, the speed, the technique...
From what i have read around with coldar water i should slow down the retreive, with hard lures i tried twitching and WTD but not sure about how fast i should go for.
I watched seceral videos but they were all mage on lakes, not sure if it applies on the ocean.
Well, any and all tips are welcome, thanks!

Think he is in portugal fishing for sea bass?
In South Africa, our fish are gnarlier, our waves and coastline also gnarlier and we evolved different lures and techniques that cope with those fish and conditions. The fancy lures catch more fishermen than fish.
The first rule of spinning is to throw in front of fish..or potentially where and when they might be around. So learn your spots and learn your fish and what waters and winds move them around where and what structure or bottom etc they are found on. We fish a lot of topwater here, either light tackle estuary spook type baits with a walk the dog retrieve or what we call plug which is HDPE bread board with hooks and lead and eyes basically..but if you fish those plugs right ooooooh boy! The BEST BY FAR action I have in in fishing, many times has been on plug. Bait has almost matched once or twice, also spoons, but surface plug! whoa boy.. You might though be limited as far as species to catch with them.
We fish tin spoons extensively and other commercial painted lead spoons, you might have sarda sarda somewhere accessible who are a blast for a small spoon and cannot leave one alone. Up north in our waters with more tropical species, shore game jigging is also taking off. Paddletail fishing for our local drum called cob has also taken off and weedless rigs borrowed from american largemouth bass fishing are used in and among the rocks where the drum are found in sand and rock gulleys.
The main thing is learn and find the fish and present your lure in front of a feeding fish. Polarized sunglasses are mandatory. Hook up with experienced guys to show you the ropes.. If you get skunked, take a holiday to visit angola or gabon with one of the South african guides/outfits who really know how to fish and learn more in one trip from experienced guys that you would in a lifetime on your own.
Spinning is way too broad to cover in one post..;)
If your waters are cold, and warm..and dynamic..that is a start already..sometimes you are wasting your time throwing and othertimes there are golden hours..forget about retrieve speed and figure whether you must be there when its warm, or cold, or at the change and figure out what locally to you brings about the change and be ahead..dont fish for yesterdays fish.
