Hi guys,
Here's a quick report from the past weekend.
We went to witsand with the mission of catching a galjoen (we were unsuccessful).
On Friday afternoon we went straight to the blokke with some horrible smelling redbait. It was a calm evening with a flat sea, but we were full of confidence. The absolutely no action. On Saturday morning the sea was once again very flat with no working water, so we went out on the boat and drifted over the reef in the bay. We caught lots of juvenile Roman, a santer and plenty of streepies ... lots of fun for all involved even though there was nothing big enough to right home about. We then tried the river on Saturday afternoon to see if there were any steenbras or grunter around. We got a couple stumpies, but apart from that the river was dead. On Sunday morning the swell was up and the sea had a kick to it with lots of working white water. We tried the tidal pool this time, but once again didn't even get a proper bite in our search for a gallie. We did see a belman come out closer to the swimming beach, but that was it.
Always good to get away, but the search for my first gallie or even first cracker continues.

Thanks for the report... Pity about your Gallie, but that's fishing for you 'eh... keeps you coming back for the next attempt.

Thanks for the report Gareth.
That elusive Gallie! Some years ago I went with my brother in law to Kanon. My first real outing to catch a fish in the sea with someone who actually knows the sea. (I was a vaalie at the time) Long story short he showed me how to bait-up with a sard and pointed a spot which I should target. Bait landed perfectly and with in 3 minutes I was vas. Caught a sizeable Gallie on pilchards. Eric's first response "beginers luck". Well it was exactly that, never caught a Gallie since and it remains on my bucket list.

Hi Gareth,
I fished Infanta on Saturday for Gallies and also caught nothing. Only undersize Roman and some Jan Bruin.
The sea was just too flat and clear, so don't blame yourself, blame the conditions!

Hi guys,
Thanks for the words of encouragement (condolences haha).
@LeerieLegend were you fishing near the mouth or closer to the Infanta point?

Thanks for the report, great stuff!

They only started to bite heavy like a week ago .

I fished to the point and beyond it. Walked far for no reward.
Hopefully this weekend will go better
