Morning guys
I consider myself a descent Bass and yellowish fisherman. although i am a rookie when it comes to saltwater fishing. i mainly use only art-lures as i enjoy the challenge. Now for my question i am going down to the George area at the end of April and i would like some help from you experienced salt anglers that use lures. i want to fish for the fun of it not necessarily to get the biggest fish out there although it would be nice, i would like to target some Garrick and kob and whatever feels like biting. so i have my bass gear with 20lb braid on a 2500 exage reel all on a shimano crucial medium rod. i want to get another setup together for this trip what would you recommend. and also where to go and what to start trying.
thanx in advance guyes :shmno: :tite :grk: :yft: :fshn:

Hi, :welc: I'd suggest getting a rod of between 9-11ft for the surf with a cast rating of 1-2ounce with a 4/5K reel depending on make,I personally use a Stradic 5K(white one) on a 10'6" spinning rod,Stradics' an awesome reel.. :hnthnt: !Paddletail, jerkshad, bucktails, plugs(needle and chislenose)and S bend spoons all work...Plugs and topwater lures are more for the Leeries, same with floating stickbaits.Areas to start at,which are closest to George, would be Wilderness beach, there's parking just before Wilderness to the right, over the traintracks and right again, you'll end up at a parking lot right in front of Leentjies klip.Otherwise you can drive through Wilderness on N2,over the lagoon and park at the Hotel to your right. Then there's Knysna lagoon and Swartvlei at Sedgefield...Kob,Leeries and Grunters. There's a nice area to spin from just before Sedgefield to your left just after crossing the lagoon, little dirt road, find parking over the traintracks and walk along the tracks towards George, nice sandbank to target Grunters on the bank and Leeries on the drop-offs.You can try Little brak river too...for spots and info closer to Mosselbay you can read through this thread I posted a while ago... http://www.ultimateangling.co.za/index.php?topic=17533.0 (http://www.ultimateangling.co.za/index.php?topic=17533.0)
Early mornings and late afternoons,on pushing or receding tides will be the best times to fish...even better just before a coldfront and after..
hope this helped..shout if something isn't clear or understood.. :corrct: :tite
