Hi guys.
Actually wanted to pm Reefs but looks like im not allowed??
I want to service my Abu but theres no way in hell im opening it up...sure there will be some spare parts when im done.
How do i go about organising this?
-
Sorry I've never opened an Abu up. Also searched AlanTani's site, no info!
Get yourself the Reel schematics, and go for it. Take photo's at every stage along the way, so that you can put it back together again properly. (and then make a proper service tutorial afterwards!! :hnthnt: )
Otherwise take it to Craig Neil CDS Angling, in Centurion and let him do it for you.
Good luck!

Sheesh... don't know how guys do it for that price!
No ways I'd service a fixed spool reel for less than R250, excluding parts!

@ Standaman... Which Soron have you got? I have a 12 and I must say, I'm mightily impressed with it's smoothness in all facets. I do however find the bail arm a bit on the thick/heavy side.
-
Ive got the Söron STX 60 and a 20. I use the 20 for bass and its loaded with 10lbs braid. Also have the Revo STX baitcaster that little thing has got 20lbs drag!!
The Carbon Matrix drags on these reels are awesome, smooth as silk and they've got a bulletproof anti reverse...i am an Abu fan...says for life on the box and i believe it
The oversized bail arm catches the line and feeds it into the roller guide better...well thats what they say. It is a heavy reel but that just installs confidence in quality of construction for me

Sorry, my bad... mine is also an STX20... dunno where I got "12" from duh
