Also i have a 7' tiger rod with a 3000 ecxeller with 20 lbs spiderwire...to light or good fun?

Stand that Berkley 9XH is PERFECT is its the older Berkley Air Model.... my favourite Yellowtail weapon, and probably caught more fish for me than all my others put together!!
20lb Fireline is plenty... a lot of guys fish heavier, but 20lb will give you great casting distance and good sport...
I'd look to fish 30lb or 40lb Leaders, plenty for our tail...
Good luck man, hope you find some fish....

Howsit nepptune
Yes it is the old air. Have gooid that thing untill my fingers bled but to no avail... Over the years started wondering if this dam has any fish....
Should i leave the tiger rod at home or can i hazard a cast?

the Air will be fine .
My outfits are pretty much the same you are using , I however have another 9 foot outfit , with 30 lbs Fireline and 50/60 lbs FLouro , just if theres those big Struis Tail around .
However , in CPT they get big , but not the sizes you can expect here , so your 100% .
RObben Island , the Water MUST be warm to produce tail . There also might be some Geelbek around , got word for the guys in Buffels they got some Bek in the week , although its on the other side of the peninsula they might show face thats side too .
Get some spoons , if they are there most spoons will work , Wally wicks , Steve Champions , keel spinners ,ashley reads , Snake Spinners AKA dakplaat . Snake spinners are the most popular amongst Tail hunters and commercial alike , you will still often see Penn 49 with 50 lbs mono old Glassfiber rod and a big Snake spinner on most Commi boats
or you could just get a yo yo , with 100 m 75 kg line , some 6 to 8 ounce boat sinkers [ the ones with the swivel at the bottom ] and some 10/snoek hooks and some Pumkin or Red Dollies/skirts .
wind is howling here , so we can only talk Tail fishing for now...
Enjoy !!!!

oops , forgot to mention .
have taken a number of tail on light light sticks , the tiger will do the job , just don't be too eager to boat the fish , and well when theres 3 or 4 guys spinning , I would avoid lightish tackle . you sand a real good chance of burning someone else's line of or your own or both
