Oz has some amazing deepwater spots close in and there are plenty good youtube vids on what goes on down there, look like a real die hard bunch setting up portapools on the cliff ledges for there lives, here is a vid of 12 yr old lighty getting a marlin from the bricks.

Its not uncomment to get big fish off the rocks over there, my sons mate got two couta (28 and 24kg) off the rocks last month with grinders.

Popular spots are Steep Point and Quobba. Normally with helium balloons and skip baits. Cliffs are high so line gaffs are used. Dangerous fishing in the middle of nowhere. Favourite baits are tailor (shad) or garfish. They usually rig them on 5 x 5/0 or so. Part of the fun is getting them past the big sharks lurking below.
