This one was caught the past weekend, all of them on the Minnow, with a super fast straight retrieve. All fish caught are revived and released. As I love to catch and release and educate the public about it.

:envy ...congrats ..beautiful fish ...
Where exactly did you get them ? ....
-
Some nice fish there yakuza, i'd keep that spot hush hush if i was you.... w;k
-
Why thank you Shaun17 for taking the liberty to decide for others ....
Anyway those size shads have been coming out in quiet a few numbers along the North Zululand .... Hlobane and 9 mile have been doing very well ... I got a couple in the 55cm to 63 cm range ...
The pictures look as if its near Maphelane ....
enjoy your evening ....

No problem, although it wasn't a decision but an opinion!! Don't see why he should give an exact location as to where he caught them, especially when he practices C/R.
:cgrts: on the catches, i must've missed your report and pics.
-
still don't get the point do you ... no reason why YOU should see the point of giving the location... no one asked you,... it would be his decision ....and fish like shad don't exactly sit and hang around in one location....
p.s I also practice C&R ... very rarely have taken shad home...
reason I asked is I fish these grounds very often, .....was a matter of interest ....maybe take some time to think about your conversations with friends ... when they show you a great catch ..almost anyone's first questions' are where did you get it and what bait ?....
anyway cheers ...
off the topic now ....sorry ...
Once again brilliant catches ...

Oh no, I get the point, what I don’t get is when people have been on the forum for years with minimal contribution and expect for others to willingly share information. It’s an open forum where people can share experiences, ideas, help others, build friendships, provide reports/feedback and of course, opinions… no one has to ask me. The success of the forum, and what you get out of it, is directly proportionate to what you put in….
The title of the thread should give you an idea of where he caught it, given that shad don’t exactly sit and hang around in one location I reckon you’re in good shape to smash them this weekend!! :fshn:
Agreed on the excellent catches… :shd:
Sorry for the hijack, happy to discuss by PM hotrodding...

you have pm ...
thanks

Dammit nice catches. What gear where you using and are you getting decent distance with the Minnow?
And for the little tiff that is happening...come on guys..lol :crzy
-
Great catches there !
Hotrodding,
I'd also keep the spot hush hush... word travels and very soon it would look like a babboo forest and not all of the fisheeman may have the same ethic !

Make sure you don't tell any of the people living behind the Dunes in St. Lucia where you caught them.
-
I know that spot - its the Indian Ocean!
-
I know that spot - its the Indian Ocean!
That"s not Durban!
-
Hey guys thanks for these awesome replies and comments!!
And its really not an issue to give up the spots, and mention them to you. As the structure in the ocean is constantly changing with the different tides moving sandbanks up and down thus making new channels, gullys and holes day after day or more like tide after tide.
Some spectacular info can be found on this site with regards to reading the ocean, if you cant read it by just taking a glance at the water then read this articles as it betters your fishing ability.
With regards to the locations, in my first pick Im standing at the "shad gat" of Vidal, 1st parking area when you enter Vidal to gain access to the beach, straight ahead.
The second spot is at St. Lucia Caught these fish and a few 72cm Shads from the main beach area to where the meer used to enter the ocean. Just remember one thing with lure angling its all about technique, reading the water, stamina cos some times I fish from the swim beach till Pompano rock and back in one session consisting of a 16 hour casting mania, and lastly the mind power to keep trying.
Any way this is a lot of bla bla and to little :fshn:
Tight lines guys!!

What is the complete title/name of the minnow...if you don't mind sharing...? :tkx:

Well done mate sharing is caring should have spotted the Vidal photo I thought it was near the top access point at St. Lucy's I normally start there and spin my way down to the mouth before catching a lift from Oom Piet to the board walk and a cold one at the club. I rarely do that stretch without a knock from something and plenty of times I've caught fish in between the bait brigade when they haven't had a bump all day.
-
(clap) , great catches yakuza on spinning gear from the shoreline , andcatch and release :win: . :Like:
