Morning all...I will for those that are interested , give a short synopsis of what the conditions are like on our East Coast every AM , as I live right on the oceans doorstep...will let you know what I see and a pic of what the sea looks like on that AM....I know there are weather links here ..but , I think its also nice to get a laymans point of view what is ACTUALLY seen on that day!!!...Sooo...all feel free to add comments , critics etc etc...will be as detailed as I see it every morning and what I get off my actual baro...So...please remember I merely will report what I see............To kick off this AM the sea is pretty flat and has a certain amount of colour , I dont have a pic this AM , But.from Monday will have one every AM....the baro has dropped over 15 points and the front will hit our coast I would say Monday early....IMO fishing window is this arvie and tomorrow AM early.........TIGHT LINES!!!

w;k ..Good morning Folks....well we have had some rain and more is predicted from this arvie through to Sunday as the next front is about to hit us....The Nahoon , Gonubie and Kwelera rivers are flowing fairly swiftly ...BUT...no brown slick spotted as YET.....The west that is predicted for today through to Sunday early AM should keep the water fairly clean and the temp at the moment is around the 19 mark inshore...[/size]Swell and sea surge is of a minimum as of this AM ...BUT..please be on the alert as the front approaching could change all that. There is a change over of tides this weekend with a low at 03h00 on Sat and a low at 05h30 on Sunday.....So , those that like an early AM session will be fishing on a push and its a bright moon nip , please note that the tide will not vary much ..BUT...if the sea pics up a surge could change how the tide actually feels[/color]
At the moment the swell is running at a true southly but is due to shift to a south eastly as the front approaches with a very serious high ridging in behind it.
Pushing tide early AM spots are a plenty on the Jikeleza , Cefane to the right of the river comes to mind and a short walk from the Glengariff side towards Yellow Sands and as the rocks stop towards the beach are some good formation gutters at the moment.
Also be aware if you fishing on or close to a river mouth and you like to wade in a bit...standing on a raggie is something you dont want to do...just because they seem to be a docile shark they still have a formidable set of teeth that will do some serious damage to a calf or ankle....
Those that like to fish in river mouths and follow the colour line as the tide pushes , then Kei mouth is the perfect spot...some pretty good catches of kob have been made there on this kind of early morning tide..
One more spot that can also produce on a push is Cintsa west side ...just to the left of the tidal pool...
Well Folks , if you prepared to brave the wet and the chilly temps predicted for this weekend it might just pay off with a catch of a lifetime!!!...Remember , keep an eye on the water and dont take any chances , the sea is wonderful ..BUT it is also unforgiving to those that dont heed its power...

:hnthnt: Evening Folks...well ..this weekend was a waiting game as far as I was concerned.....after no fishing last weekend...I was keen to get some tin in the water...Sat was out....This AM was out...and there was a big sea on the horizon......Soooo...Today I watched and waited.....going about Sunday chores....the baro had peaked at 1022hpk and the west had slowed to a puff....I grab my stuff and headed down to my local.spot....i was blessed to have a VERY good session with the kobbies.....hooked n landed 4 and dropped a 5th.....Timing at times is crucial in this passion of ours and of course having your bait/lure in the right place at the right time......and what made it even more special these kobbies were hooked on one of my new designed spoons...

:tkx: ..Charles.....ja...look whats special about this spoon...it pushes lots of water BUT swims shallow...so great for those bricky areas where the target area is no more than 2 foot deep...and where I got these kobbies is exactly that kinda structure...so while kobbies will eat most shiny good swimming spoons....Its getting the RIGHT action spoon to operate in the shallows where one will very often find these kobbies hanging out..... :hnthnt:

:tkx: ..Riekert.....ja look....its a learning curve with this facet of fishing , and being specific with spoon for kobbies and targeting them in bricky areas its always experimenting ...to find that "holy grail" of spoons ...BUT ...we all know that does not exisit..LOL.....BUT..yesterday arvie I happened to get the timing right...thats why I always say to okies when asked....take notes...when you catch and even when you dont catch....yesterday arvie , I was at my top kobbie spot in my local area ..had 20 odd throws but nothing...then noticed to my left abot 50 odd meters away two Jonnies fishing and they were smacking the bait fish in the shallows...Now , that spot where they were is normally a spot i gooi on a higher tide...I mosied over and thought damn its shallow....clipped on the new DS and first throw I was IN!!...had good fun for an hour...

:hnthnt: Well ..good day Folks...of late I havent been looking at the coming weekends conditions on a Wednesday of late , due to all the wet weather weve been having.....BUT...IF the present systems off our coast keep true to form ...THEN...we in for a real BANGER of a conditions-for-fishing weekend...From Friday arvie through to midday Sunday is looking REALLY good!!!....With low tides at 10h30 on Saturday and a low at 11h00 on Sunday....With light winds predicted as per the systems moving along our coast , its best to keep that kit at ready!!!

w;k ..Howzit Nathan ...ja thanks.....I use a 1053H King Fisher Stimulator and a Daiwa SL30...that is loaded with .45 Suffix and with a 60lb 1 meter clear trace attached to my spoons.....Tha 10footer Stim is a great little rod....BEST rods ever made by KF in my humble opinion...it has a fast tip and very nice back bone to muscle the kobbies in and around the bricks....

:hnthnt: Well well well....Good mornings Folks...as I write this weve been blasted by a very nice west and this with a rising baro over the next 12 hours is only setting off ALARM fishing bells in my head!!!......The only thing that we need to heed is that with the two fronts that have slipped past our coast and into the deep blue we are going to have an uppish sea and this coupled with a FULL bright moon spring today , we need to be on our toes at the waters edge this weeken[/size]d...[/color]
Saturday sees a low at 10h30 and on Sunday at 11h00 ...so to great outgoing early AM tides and also for the arvies on the two days...the water temp is around the warmish 19 and as of this AM there is a slight north westly surge on the sea ....I did notice a bit of a ground swell and this might catch some fisherman out as they eye those nice set of rocks to put their bags down , always watch the water for at least 15 or so minutes before settling down to a spot...Even on a sandy beach...
Ive heard of only blues that have come out this past week and it may seem that the shad have cooled down abit.....I hear of kob catches in the Gonubie and Kwelerga rivers at night , but as of yet Ive seen or heard no firm details as to these catches...
The wind will continue to blow today and as that baro tops out overnight it will calm down to a puff come the early AM....Light Nwesters are predicted for the whole weekend and turning to east midday on Sunday.....I predict that fishing for Sat and then Sunday AM is the ZONE time...
NOW...on this particular tide , the Jikeleza fishes very well , Cintsa point comes to mind for just about anything .....Glen Muir and Navar are bothe DAMN fine spots....A spot I ver seldom mention , BUT , if you looking for that elusive poensie then take a ride around to the Kwelerga village side and just before you get into the village that section of coast fishes very well for poensies and this tide is perfect ......BUT...make sure you are not under gunned when targeting these fine fighters in that structure!!!
Cefane beach to the right should also fire on this tide and a piggie is not out the question....
Folks , PLEASE be safe out there this weekend and watch the water!!!

Afternoon Kent. I was wondering if you could give me a bit of info. This Sunday coming I'm making a trip to fetch kids at Kefani. Was planning on going down early in the morning to have a fish before picking them up. I have never fish that area before except for the Kwenura river. If possible could you give me a bit of an idea of where to fish more or less. Thanks

w;k ..Hi Jon..long time no hear....jip...Cefani is good...and this weekend its an early AM pushing tide ...I would fish left of the Cefani river mouth as there are some really nice sloepies that have formed there of late....High is at around 10h00 and if all systems hold as they are at the moment , the swell should not be a problem...pack some decent chokka and a some prawn...Cefani is known for its piggies that can surprise you...TIGHT LINES...and give us some feed back... :blktl: :shd:

:-) ..Mornings...Folks....well its the Jikeleza show this weekend and if you have any thoughts of going , best you get out there tomorrow as there is a pretty serious looking front gonna hit us around 11h00 on Sunday AM....The water is looking great and the temp is around the 19 mark...swell size is a decent 4 to 5 foot and will create nice working water in the inshore gutters and gulleys.....Although by Sunday arvie that swell will jump to over 9 foot..[/size]Soooo, my predication is to get in some fishing tomorrow as Sunday and Monday AM might just be a blow out ....I noticed no surge or side wash this AM and it should hold until that front hits...the wind for tomorrow will be a slight northwester and the swell is running at a northly direction...Sunday that west will blast through at a 50kph....[/color]
This past week I heard of the blues being on the bite and one silver of about 5 kilos came out at Glen Navar....Tides this weekend will suit most spots on the Jikeleza for an early AM session...take note its a pushing nip tide and high on Saturday is at 10h00...Sunday at 11h45 ...
Spots to think about would be Kei Mouth at the mouth and follow the colour line as the water pushes in the mouth...if the conditions are right and the Kei is not too grubby it fishes well on this kinda early AM tide...
Yellow Sands also fishes well on this tide in the AM...BUT ...just be aware if the swell picks up it can rush a bit over those ledges out front..
With this water colour and temp Cintsa point is always a good option ..BUT you would have to get there early as the pushing tide might catch your offsides and then its a swim back to the beach...
NOW...those wanting a little adventure can get to Cefane and take an early AM walk left to Bosbok and gooi for piggie off the beach as that tide pushes....heard of two piggies come out there in the last two weeks ...seems the bank formation is spot on...
Those of you that have been out towards GlenGariff of late will notice how washed out it is in the middle of the bay with the exposure of the rocks there...NOW...standing on those rocks on the push ...Im telling you that pigs will lurking in that turbulent water....
Well , Folks...thats it for this weekend...the water looks good...the tide is good , lets hope that front gives us a gap for some line wetting!!!

w;k Mornings Folks...well , this past week has seen some really beaut mornings and the sea was looking fantastic.....with a rather serious looking front off Cape Town the last 24 hours , things were looking set for another west blast ...BUT ..that front has slipped into the deep blue and the barometer has shot up to 1002hpk and Im sure by tomorrow AM it will be at 1025hpk....Which in turn the beastly eastly will be puffing very very early at a rate of knots!!!......The wa[/size]ter at the moment is still a very good colour although the temp has dropped quite a few degrees ...sitting at around the 17 mark...[/color][/size]Your high is at 04h00 tomorrow AM and on Sunday at 04h30...Please note we are on a dark moon spring this weekend and be aware of sudden surges , although I noticed no surge or wash this AM...Predicted swell is around the 8 foot mark , so the sea will be uppish and that means those high tide rocks you are used to standing on might just get a tad wet!!!
The east will blow itself out as the next low pressure approaches and Sunday AM will be calm with a very slight north west will puff....This then brings me to the window of opportunity which I say will be Sunday AM on the outgoing tide....from the arvie onwards the west will puff a bit as that front gets closer and Im sure we will get some rain later in the day....[/color]
Spots to look out for will be Glen Gariff , which works nicely on an outgoing , but you need to get there early as that bay empties quite quickly on spring outgoing....Yellow sands , directly in
front of the caravan park also works well on an outgoing and seems to hold the water a lot longer....
Once again its a tide that suits Cintsa point and also the ledges to the left of the tidal pool at Cintsa west side...
Moving further north at Double Mouth could be good on this tide ...BUT...and a big BUT...here it will depend on the size of the sea...Doubles can be awkward on a big sea and it does not fish a surge very well...
Also on this tide early AM is Bonzas....from the Quinera river through to Danger point is a very good walk n stalk area early AM for those drop shottists and rubbers men....
Well Folks , tomorrow will be an iffy day for fishing as that east will start early early...BUT...no line in the water means no chance of that BIG fish!!!

:-) Mornings Folks...well , this weekend looming is going to be a picky one as far as fishing goes.....sitting off our coast is a rather serious looking high pressure ...That beastly eastly will puff a bit come Sunday AM and tomorrow will probably be the best window with regards to the wind ....It will be pretty light for most part of Saturday and the swell will range fro 5 to 7 foot.....a number of front laying south wich might even push the swell even further...the swell direction is still north west BUT that will change on Sunday as the east picks up speed and that high settles over the coast..[/size]BUT....this is not all doom n gloom...with these conditions presenting itself , its time to look for those sand bars and sloepies , coz piggies just LOVE these kind of sea and pressure conditions......Your tide will be pushing early AM on Sat and Sunday....with a high at 07h45 on Saturday and 08h50 on Sunday....[/color]
[/size]Dont count Bonzas out , especially the area between Gonubie and Bonzas...very nice piggie country...also Green gates at the bottom of Moore street Quigney is a VERY good option with these kinda conditions for piggies...[/color]
[/size]Cefane once again could very well be the HOT SPOT on these tides and make sure you have some sand prawn as well as some FRESH chokka...a nice white feathered jig head dragged on the sand could also entice that piggie....[/color]
[/size]The water colour is not too bad BUT has started to go "off" as the east has progressed over the last two days and into the weekend...the temp has come off dramatically and is at around real feel 16 inshore...[/color]
[/size]Yellow sands is also a good option on this tide formation and Glen Gariff . especially in the surf....nice bank formation there at the moment...[/color]
[/size]Once again folks , it is a nip tide weekend and the tides will not move in or out as much BUT still watch that surge if the swell picks up overnight on Saturday...[/color]

w;k Mornings Folks...well , weve come off a week of lotsa east and the water is grubby and chilly and in the AM tomorrow a west will come through at a steady pace , but we are starting to see the last of the winter fronts coming through and that large one you see off CT will slip by us and the two coastal lows will bring wettish conditions from Sunday onwards ...[/size]Sunday AM will see the wind switch to a stiff north easter again and there are one or two spots on the Jikeleza that will fish a north easter comfortably...This water is very suited to piggies and a trip out Cefane way would not be out of place as the tides are also very good......Saturday sees a low at 09h00 and on Sunday @ 09h45...We are on a bright moon spring exactly this weekend , so please be aware of sudden surges ...although the swell should be around the 4 to 5 foot mark its always good to be extra alert on a springs....[/color]
[/size]Bonzas should fish well on these tides and the water condition suits that area for some piggie hunting....also in that area to the right of the Bonzas lifesavers shack halfway to nahoon is also a VERY good area on these tides...[/color]
[/size]Glen Navar and Muir will also be a good option....when you walking on the sand keep an eye out for those white ghost crabs ...grab one and clip him on...VERY good bait for these types of conditions...even a kobbie will gobble that!!![/color]
[/size]Once again , IF you are so fortunate to hook a piggie , give some thought to a possible release , although they make a fine table fish ...they are also under a fair amount of pressure and they used to be very prolific along our Jikeleza...[/color]
[/size]Well folks , its a short sweet forecast today as this past week the wind has not played nicely with the sea ..BUT...lets get those lines in the water and hope for some good stories and pics on Monday AM!![/color]

w;k Good day Folks....I very seldom IF ever talk about a dropped kob...IF I cannot take a pic of my landed kob and its a long line release then I never talk about it...Its sort of a "disrespect" to the keepers of the seas.....BUT...this once I will share........ once again another learning curve I had on Sunday AM with my ongoing quest of throwing spoon for kob...I have been eyeing a new gutter next to one of my favourite spots....Its one Ive looked at over the past month or so and decided last weekend to give it a go...Found it to be pretty deep and with a lovely "channel" slap in the cross section of the incoming wave....This Sunday ..I decided to give it a full go with my new 1,2oz Falconetti spoon....After about 15 or so throws ...I see the water action taking on a boiling action as the water got lower and the two Jonnies that were sitting on the rocks behund me ...suddenly get in the water and start diving for fish.....the VERY next throw as i get about 10 or so meters off the ledge I get a TAP...yes a TAP...two turns and another TAP and then one turn ..BANG on!!!
[/size]This kobbie was all of 60cm and dropped at my feet...Im now excited and decide to up the retrieve ratio ever so slightly...The very next throw same spot ...now a TAP...TAP.....ON!!!...I landed this okie slightly bigger and now I wanted a pic ...BUT my bag and fone was a ways off to the back...I never like touching the kobbies when I want to release...So I gently swim him through the shallows and as I get close to my bag station ...he gets off....So apologise for no pic...BUT ...this kind of "bite" is a first for me as normally these kobbies rattle your spoon quite aggresively and then I noticed ALL the green grass and weed in the whole retrieve area....Curious I swam out a little and , sure enough LOTSA vegetation....Im assuming these kobbies hide in the weed and somehow seeand feel the spoon differently...Anyhow , to me this is crucial bit of intel......Hope it helps someone as to how structure affects to how a certain species of fish take the lure differently in different structure/surroundings....[/color]

:clwn Mornings Folks...well , I would suggest you go fish this AM as of later today the east will start to puff and we in for some SERIOUS east wind this weekend , bar a miracle....That being said the water is looking damn nice as weve come off three days west and the temp is around the 18 mark with good colour water...Im sure the raggie hunters will be licking their lips at the prospect of the east cooling the water somewhat and also bring some "nasty" colour to it...[/size]There are not too many spots on the Jikeleza that will fish a strong east in comfort...Two places come to mind ...a small bay just to the right of Kwelerga Village.....the right hand side of the Cintsa Tidal pool ...These two can fish in fair comfort in a big east...BUT...Ive never felt comfortable in a big east at best...[/color]
[/size]You have a high tomorrow AM at 08h00 and on Sunday at 09h30...[/color]
[/size]Those of you who like the rivers , might be a better option this weekend although If one gets an early start tomorrow AM you might just get in an hour or two before the east really comes through...[/color]
[/size]Well , Folks , there you have it......always remember , no line in the water equals no chance at a bite!!![/color]

:tite ......Mornings Folks,,,well ..were in for a wettish weekend and a chillsome one....The water is a nice colour and the temp on the chilly side at 17....the barometer is sitting at 1029hpk and that means we in for an east ...BUT...do not get caught out as last weekend that east only came through in the afternoon , so , watch the wind and I still say that tomorrow AM early is an opportunity for a fish...[/size]Your tides for tomorrow are low at 09h00 and on Sunday at 09h45...Please be alert as we are on a dark moon spring and be aware of those surges...swell will be southly at around 5 to 6 foot ...Remember on a darkmoon spring the sea drains fairly quickly as it approaches dead low...[/color]
[/size]Spots for this weekend ...Cintsa point comes to mind and Cefane to the left IF you get there early enough...Its now starting light at 05h15 and that will give you at least 4 hours to low....although Cefane does fish a pushing tide very well....Glen Navar and Muir are also options on this tide and predicted wind....One could also try the Bulugha side as the east will be behind you as you throw towards Glen Gariff ...BUT...mind that side ast the sea can catch you out as it surges....[/color]
[/size]It will be mostly overcast this weekend with clearing skies from Sunday arvie onwards...some rain predicted BUT the wind is the issue....note that high pressure hanging over our coast and those inland lows will drop the pressure sharply on Sunday , Sooo...Saturday is the day...[/color]
[/size]Lets hope some good catches are made this weekend Folks as its been a bit lean the last few weekends...[/color]

w;k ...Mornings Folks...well last night I noticed the baro on the rise again and was hoping and praying that the east would be dead by the early AM....with a 05h00 wake up ,,,the east was GONE!!!...First good sign....made my way down to my local "secret" spot and in the pre dawn darkness noticed no less than 4 Jonnies fishing in my strke zone!!!...VERY GOOD sign number two and then the water was working very nicely with very little sidewash OR surge.....[/size]Straight into the first 20 casts and then moved onto the next pinnacle...first cast ...two turns into the retrieve and the lightest of TAPS ...I decide to reel in very quickly and get the next cast onto that same line......two turns ....BOOM!!!...I can feel Im onto a decent fish.....some drag ....and then a few moments later landed a very nice 85cm kobbie....[/color]

:fshn: w;k ...Mornings Folks...well...weve come off a west puffing week and the water looks DAMN fine and the temp is good as well around the 17 mark....The high that is ridged over our coast has settled with that inland cut off low making slow progress....Tomorrow AM will see the east puff very very light and that Folks will be your window of opportunity....[/size]You have a high tide tomorrow at 06h30 and on Sunday at 07h15....With the water as clear as it is , a pre dawn session is on the cards which will coincide with that almost no wind tomorrow AM....Sunday looks to be that the east will puff hard early on and only die down late on Sunday arvie...[/color]
[/size]Its a nip tide weekend and the expected swell is around the 6 foot mark with a southly swell running....Spots to look out for would be Cefane which does well on an early AM high outgoing nip as the beaches dont drain too quickly.....Cintsa beach could also be an option , BUT , Yellow sands , just down infront of the caravan park might be the hot spot this weekend on this kinda tide...two VERY nice gutters formed there at the moment....[/color]
[/size]Also , Folks do not discount Bonzas....this kinda tide is also very suitable for this spot early AM , even if you walk left towards Gonubie.....some good looking formation there as well...[/color]
[/size]Bearing in mind that with this water , if , you are targeting blues there is a VERY strong possibility of hooking a silver...Sooo...make sure your terminal tackle is spot on and you have strong sharp hooks....Remember fresh red bait is sometimes the answer in these type of water conditions...[/color]

Mornings East Coasters...well well....weve seen some nice catches come through in the last few days and the water conditions , I must say are really good!!!...The temp is a little on the chilly side at 15 , BUT,,,not unfishable....silvers and poensies dont mind the chill and the water is clear n clean which they favour...as to the kob . it could be a bit chilly for them , but they too will be on the bite pre dawn in these clean clear water conditions , just find that working water gutter/gulley and you could very well be in business!!...The tides are bright moon spring and you have a 08h30 low tomorrow AM and on Sunday a 09h15 low in the AM...I felt no surge or severe sidewash yeaterday AM or this AM...BUT..as full spring approaches it could surge more , so please be aware as tides can catch you out on a spring...
To pick a spot this weekend on our Jikeleza , well , you are spoilt for choice!!!...
Haga , Double Mouth , Cefane to the left , Cintsa point before the east gets up , Bulugha as the east picks up , Glengarif pre dawn , Yellow sands early AM....Gonubie Springs to Danger Point .......Sooo...YES...you have an array of spots that could and should produce anything from the feisty black tail to the aggro poensie AND I believe the cocky shad are still around as well.....
Ive noticed on my walks to Bonzas and back that there are two sets of Otter families along that stretch of coast...please view these fantastic creatures and enjoy their frolics in the shallows as they eat shell fish etc etc ...BUT...do not disturb them OR try and get too near them.....It is ABSOLUTE special that these Otters are along our section of coast and should you get close and one happens to bite you , you will have a serious injury on your hands!!!

w;k ..Hi Harold...the SL gets stripped right down to the chassis...the ceramic bearings were in a tub of graphite powder and the leather washer were boiling away slowly in a mix of water and parafin.....To soak n wash I use hot , not boiling water with good ole Sunlight liquid....then the rinse is warm water and meth mix.....I dry and let air dry for an hour...then very lightly oil moving points with thin transformer oil and grease on the main gear and pinion with red rubber grease....the leathers get pressed and dried and rubbed with red rubber grease ....lastly a very light spray all over working parts with a NON silicon spray....This system works for me as my SL goes swimming quite often and the red rubber grease dispels water very well....the two spool bearings go in "dry" so to speak ....and that method has worked over the years as taught to me by my toppie...

[/size]The water temp is around the 18 mark and the swell is around the 4 to 5 foot area....there is a slight westly swell running with no surge or sidewash...BUT...there is a front hanging off the CT point and that is slipping slightly into the deep blue and MIGHT have an affect on the ground swell in the coming two days ....[/color]
[/size]Sooo...although the tides are nip this weekend with a high at 07h00 tomorrow and a high at 07h50 on Sunday , always keep your eyes on the water...[/color]
[/size]Spots to look out for are Glen Muir , Glen Navar , Cefane to the left is always good on an early AM push and as the tide turns again....Bonzas to the right could also be an option and maybe Green Bay and the Springs along the Gonubie side...[/color]

:clwn :wndy ....Mornings East Coasters....well we moving into a dark moon spring AND from the looks of what is coming up the coast from CT , we are in for BEEG surging seas!!!...Soo..please be VERY wary when out fishing on our Jikeleza this weekend...There is a VERY strong westly swell running and while in certain spots it might seem flat to your , always look at that horizon and it looks like crinkle cut chips then you know we in for some serious wave height!![/size]The water colour and temp is very good and you will have a firm eastly blowing from early AM tomorrow and as the baro drops as that front approaches the west should blast through tomorrow arvie late...[/color]
Spots to look out for this weekend would be Glen Garif as its fairly sheltered from a heavy west....the likes of Cefane and Cintsa beach might be a bit of a blow out....IF you comfortable with getting wet then Cintsa point is also an option BUT here please do watch the surge and be aware of what the tides are doing....
You have a low tomorrow AM at 08h30 and on Sunday at 09h00...another spot to try is Kwelerga at the mouth and also Queensberry on the Glen Eden side.....
Fishing inshore reefs might be the order of the day for this weekend or those that like doing a bit of river fishing

Monday Tuesday next week look good as fishing days looking at the wind etc etc....[/size]Sat sees a high tide at 05h45 and on Sunday at o6h15...Spots to look out for this weekend will be those eastly shelterd spots ...WHICH there are not too many on the Jikeleza...One comes to mind is the Bulugha point fishing towards Glen Gariff...also you can try infront of the Kwelerga Village...Sunday AM early with very light wind on a full nip high , Cefane and Cintsa beach must get the nod. Ive also heard some damn fine banks and sloepis formed on the Haga beach as well. Marsh Strand is also an option on this nip tide early high...great poensie spot that!!![/color]

When I was down this AM I noticed a fair surge and westly sidewash...Wind is gonna be a stiff east from this evening onwards to late Sunday arvie...BUT...there is a very weak inland low that might just just keep that east in check for an early AM gooi tomorrow early.
Your low tides are 06h00 tomorrow and 07h00 on Sunday , now with these early AM tides your have , just off the tip of my tongue about 10 VERY spots along our Jikeleza......Pullins at Hagga , Cefane to the left towards Bosbok very good kob area....Cintsa point for some kob , poensie and silvers....Yellow Sands , infront of the caravan park first set of rocks ...VERY good drop shot spot....THEN...Bonzas has been throwing some kob and these tides are SPOT ON!!...Also Glen Gariff and Queensberry for silvers and Poensie.....Then if you like a small walk Glen Navar and Muir.....
The past two days , quite a few kob have come out and the blues are always around....some gents had fun with the juvenile grey at Gonubie point the other night....Soooo...
IF the east gives us a break we might just just be in business this weekend!!!

:-) ..Mornings Folks....the east that was predicted for this early AM never pitched and it was dead calm...hit the water at 05hoo and to find a good sea , although it was a abit chilly at 15.....for my two hours efforts I was rewarded with a coupla "illegals" which swam off into the sunrise and not a kobbie insight...BUT..this I put down to the chilly water.....

[/size]The baro is rising very nicely and the window could very well be tomorrow AM as Sunday , heavy rain is predicted with a stiff east wind..Although not the Jikeleza , but worth mentioning , Green Gates at the bottom of Moore street in the Quigney has thrown some piggies this past week and these tides are great for there!![/color]
[/size]A little unknown spot along the coast between Gonubie and Bonzas is a little bay called Green bay by the local blues fisherman and I had a report of at least three silvers coming out there.....it might just be worth the walk and make sure you find some red bait..[/color]

:fshn: Mornings East Coasters...well , we have an upside down sea at the moment , that is off colour and a tad chilly at 13...there is a very eastly swell running with a pretty serious sidewash and surge...The barometer has bottomed out at 998hpk and as those two little coastal lows settle and move south east with that serious looking high rising in behind , we are in for two more days of windless early AM,s...The baro will start its rise later this evening and this is always a good[/size] sign...BUT ...in my humble opinion the water is a tad chilly for kobbies and a tad too grubby for silvers and poensies...BUT....THIS..is great water for that lurking piggy!!![/color]
NOW..with a low tide of 07h15 tomorrow and 07h45 on Sunday , there are numerous spots along the Jikeleza one can target these steam trains!!
Cefane to the left of the river......once again slightly west of the Jikeleza , but Eastern beach also a good spot for piggies with a sea like this..
Cintsa , just past the tidal pool , there is a small bay...also been know to throw a piggie or two....another spot for piggies is Glen Gariff beach ..
Although , over recent years Ive witnessed two very sizer pigs come out at Gonubie point....on a sea very much like we have now at the moment...so , there is some food for thought!!!
Here Im not saying you WONT get a kobbie , silver or poensie ..BUT..the water temp is not quite to their liking , although some sizer kob have been know to come out at Haga with a sea like this , so here again its a timing thing and at the right spot at the right time...
Remember Folks its that time of the year that the leeries are on the move and its not out of the question that you might happen on a shoal of these fantastic fish...the absolute gentleman of the sea , please show some restraint should you get into a shoal ....

[/size]Remember , if you using bait and its pillie you could very well get into a tussle with a poensie and silvers will also be on the prowl in these water condition. Keep a look out for fresh red bait and cut what you need.[/color]
[/size]Folks , get those permits updated and IF you go for live bait etc etc...make sure your permit is annotated as such . Ive heard of some nice kob coming out this past week and also in the rivers. You are allowed you one kob over 60cm and I would suggest anything over a meter in length to be released....Rather keep the 3 kayer than the 10 kayer....just a thought..[/color]

:wndy Mornings East Coasters...well, we in for some serious west this weekend and maybe, just maybe it will be best to fish off some of our deep water points...viz , Gonubie point , Cintsa point , Glengariff , Queensbury and kwelerga...with this west the sea will clean up nicely and then their is a very good chance of some leeries around...The only thing putting the spanner in the works regarding the leeries is the swell predicted for this weekend is in the 8 to 10 foot range...lee[/size]ries are not fond of water boiling around a deepwater point.....[/color]
Excellent early AM low tides this weekend as we moving into a midweek bright moon spring ....Low at 05h30 on Sat and with the change over of tides for Sunday , low will be at 06h45...once again approaching spring and that heavy cold front hanging off our coast in conjuction with that coastal inland low , there will be some swell moving in with the possibility of a surge...The swell is running in a SW direction....
IF we are lucky we will get a windless gap in the early hours of the am. BUT heavy rain is predicted for tomorrow , so pack a rainsuit ,,
This past week the rivers have been giving up some of their kob and the Nahoon and Gonubie have seen some action. So...Folks all I can say is watch the wind and when it slacks off GO FISH!!!..

:clwn Mornings East Coasters...well , we moving into an iffy weekends fishing and with the high pressure already ridged over our coast and a rather serious looking front coming along the CT shore we in for a BIG barometer drop....The water temp is a cool 16 and with all this west weve been having Im surprised that the temp has not risen.[/size]With this system for this weekend the shark hunters should be in business AND those that are willing to do the walk from Cefane past Bosbok onto Rooiwalle might just just have a piggy surprise!!![/color]
You have a high tide at 05h00 tomorrow AM and at 05h45 on Sunday....Swell predicted is between the 6 to 8 foot marg with a very eastly direction , so be aware of those sudden sidewashes as weve just come off a bright moon spring.
Spots to look out for , would be Cefane , Cintsa beach and GlenGariff on the inside ledges could be an option although it looks very sanded up there at the moment.
There is a LTB compo out at Kei Mouth this weekend and they seem very buoyant about the prospects of getting fish...
The barometer is sitting at a very high 1027 and I suspect it will start to drop sharply from tomorrow AM as that series of fronts approach our coast...and a rapidly dropping barometer is almost never a good sign for good fishing unless you fish for sharks...
The wind will be moderate east all weekend and IF it picks up there are very few spots along our Jikeleza where you could fish in comfort in a brisk east....BUT...as the saying goes ...no line in the water.....

:fshn: Mornings East Coasters...well , we in for a beastly eastly weekend ...predicted speeds up to 40 kays....Although we have a cut off low approaching , this wont help our cause BUT will bring some rain......Its fantastic tides this weekend on the Jikeleza , tomorrow you have a low at 05h00 and on Sunday a low at 05h45...The water at the moment does not look bad at all , and the temp is around the 17 mark , BUT,,,what this east and the overnight east will do is anybodies guess...[/size].Hopefully , the early AM on both days will give us a slight break in the east and we all can get a throw in....[/color]
Spots to look out for with this east would be Bulugha point...left of the tidal pool at Cintsa West and one could try Cefane left on the push IF the east doesnt pump!!......Bonzas is once again giving up some of its blues as well as kob , but you would have to walk a bit to find those working ledges...
The baro dropped slightly over night but will remain steady for most part of the weekend....a steady baro is almost always good for shark fishing...

There is a front coming in from Cape Town and the west will most probably hit us on Sunday morning early. Sat will see light east throughout the day and this will possible be the window to go and fish.[/size]You have a high tide on Sat at 04h15 and at high on Sunday at 04h45 , the swell will be between 3 to 6 foot and as it stands no surge or sidewash expected , BUT….with that front off our coast it may just create a sizable ground swell.The water temp is at a warm 19 and the colour is clean and clear. It is a bit on the chilly side at 15 or so , with three days of east and as I can tell from this AM no sidewash or surge present. We are on a nip tide this weekend with a low at 03h00 on Saturday and at 04h45 on Sunday AM.[/size] [/color][/size]Now , early am lows on the Jikeleza gives you numerous options with regards to spots.. Right from Gonubie through to Haga are ALL veryfishable on an early AM low , pushing tide. Cintsa , past the tidal pool comes to mind and the Cintsa point. Glen Navar , Glen Muir and Queensberry also very good on this tide. Reports of kob and blues have been full up this past week and lets hope the good catches continue through this weekend.
There will be a lightish east tomorrow and very calm on Sunday AM with a stiff west coming through later in the morning as that front hits us. So , if I was a betting man , I would hit the water early AM Sunday and Sat…..
The two coastal lows will not affect us too much BUT will bring some rain in the early hours on both days. Please remember , if you fishing on the low that some spots the water tends to rush in quite quickly. Watch that Cintsa point area . The ledges at Bonzas can also get tricky on a early AM push. Also if you venture onto the Bulugha point.[/color]
Glen Gariff , seems a bit sanded up at the moment BUT also not a bad option on the push. Some drop shotists had some success there this past week .

:beer: :fshn: Mornings East Coasters , as I write this we are on the Eve of Chistmas....We also have a bright moon spring tomorrow and this is coupled with the summer solstice that has just passed on the 21st . The sea has a fair surge and a very SW swell direction.[/size]You have high tides at 03h30 tomorrow , Saturday at 04h15 and Sunday at 05h00. Please be alert as these tides drain very quickly and give one a false sense of security on thoae low tide areas as fast as this tide drains is as fast it pushes in. Also of note with this tide it changes almost straight away ...No so called lull.[/color]
[/size]The water temp is around the 18 mark and has a good colour to it. Spots to look at would be GlenGariff....Kwelerga and even Yellow sands infont of the caravan park should be good. NOW...two spots often overlooked with a early AM spring tide are Glen Navar and Glen Muir...Both are a short walk from the Glen Eden side if you do not have access to the two spots. These two spots hold a fair amount of water on a quickly draining spring tide and they are infamous for their silvers and poensies...BUT...you have to work at it coz the two Glens dont give up their secrets too easy...[/color]
[/size]Cefane could be an option BUT you would have to get it early as that stretch of beach gets empty with water quickly. Saturday AM sees us with no wind from at least 04h00 to 10h00. Sunday sees a stiff east and Friday will be west...So , Sat AM seems like the best option.[/color]

:beer: Mornings East Coasters , well we on the eve of another year done and most will be having a party tonight and I ask you to stay safe and see the new year in in a happy and fun way. Many thanks to all that contributed throughout the year with all those fishy pics and info on our wonderful Jikeleza coast.
Well , the next three days sees us with a chilly see and the shoreline is pretty grubby...BUT...there is a west puffing today and the coastal low is moving past and this hopefully will clean it up a bit.
Wind predicted for Friday and Saturday will be west and at a moderate rate of knots...Sunday sees us with a slight east and the baro will start rising from tomorrow arvie as that high starts ridging in. Those of you that are venturing out this new years weekend , my tip would be Sat am and Sunday am. Tomorrow you have a high tide at 07h50...Saturday at 09h00 and on Sunday 10h15 and its a dead nip tide weekend , where the water will not move much between low and high...
Spots to look out for would be Cefane to the left...and dont rule out Cintsa bay OR just to the right of the Cintsa West tidal pool.....
Remember that red bait...especially if the water stays cool and cleans up , those silvers will be on line!!!

:fshn: Mornings East Coasters , well the year has kicked off and most , if not all of us are gearing up for work and to see what 2016 will bring. On the fishing front , the past few weeks has seen out coast experience rather chilly clean clear waters . The past two weekends Ive heard of at least three silvers coming out , but not pics I am afraid , so these then just remain stories.[/size]This coming weekend we have a high tide tomorrow at 03h30 and on Sunday 04h00. Its a dark moon spring weekend , so watch that pushing tide if you like fishing the push.[/color]
The wind will be lightish east the whole weekend and we have a rather serious high pressure ridging over our coast as I write this. This then will keep the baro at a steady 1022 and maybe even go higher. A steady baro is not normally good for fishing BUT with this cool clear water there is a strong possibility of silvers and poensies. So , be prepared and dont forget the humble red bait for silvers.
I do believe the rivers have been fairly warm and some nice size kingies have been coming out at Nahoon ebb and flow area.
Spots to look out for an an early AM outgoing is Queensberry , Glen Gariff , Yellow sands , Cintsa point and even Cintsa beach could work with this flattish sea , with a swell of around 4 to 6 foot and running very southly, Soo...no surge or sidewash expected this weekend.
Folks please be on the lookout for litter especially after this holiday season and I implore you to pick up any nylon etc etc

:fshn: Mornings East Coasters...its another fine warm sunny day on our Jikeleza , that being said , the water is still very clean and freezing . The weather systems backed off our west coast has been perplexing to say the least. The barometer has been steady for almost a week now and sitting at 1018hpk....there are two cutoff lows approaching and these will bring rain , no doubt BUT will it bring enough west to just warm the water a tad , is anybodies guess....the wind will be mainl[/size]y north east but very light to calm in the early mornings .[/color]
With this in mind , no line in the water also then means no chance at least of getting the odd fish....NOW...whilst the water is chilly , you have fish like poensie and silvers who actually like this clean cool water . One just needs to find the right gulley/gutter and you could well be in business and on that note with the present tides , two spots, well three actually come to mind.
Kwelerga village , Glen Navar and Glen muir ,,,all three , excellent hunting grounds for poensie. If you feel like a little ride then pop out to Marsh strand which is just a hop n a skip across the Haga beach , now that is a brilliant poensie spot as well.
Where you find blues you will find silvers and silvers do not mind shallow water . Although the water is clean , do not forget the piggies , these fish can be very elusive at times BUT you get the right sandbank working and time the tide right you will be ON!!!
For pigs , Ive always said Eastern beach in town and then Cefane both sides of the river.
Tomorrow you have a low at 09h30 and on Sunday at 10h15 , such good tides for that early AM session. Remember its a bright moon spring , although the swell is only at 4 to 5 foot and no increase expected , I did notice a fair surge this AM.
When fishing for blues , be wary of this light tackle idea as silvers could very well be on your line and playing a 5kayer for hours on end on light tackle does that fish no good especially if you intend releasing.

:fshn: Good day East Coasters , well we on a typical summer weather system coming along our coast and daytime temps are going to be HOT ...east is expected all weekend , with calm to light air early AM on both Sat and Sun...[/size]The inshore water temp has risen a bit and it is sitting around the 17 mark..the water is still fairly clean with the odd grubby patches here and there....tides for Sat is a high at 07h15 and on Sun at 08h00....fairly awkward tides for the Jikeleza BUT you have Cefane and Cintsa that can work nicely on a high early AM nip tide.[/color]
[/size]Kob are coming out and with this water hotting up we could very well be in for a good weekends fishing!!![/color]

:hnthnt: Mornings Folks , well , on the premise of the baro rising steadly and not a good tide for me and what I like , I still went for a throw this AM on the push with the water a tad grubby and sitting at a chilly 16 ....I had a good session with the kobbies ,,landing three in total and all around the 50 to 60cm mark. Very healthy and fat , that is a good sign, obviously the time spent in the rivers have done them well. All three took off like bats outta hell when released. Sooo...Im duly pleased!!!

[/size]Spots to look out for will be Cintsa point,,,Bulugha point and Glengariff...dont discount the ledges in front of the Yellow sands caravan park....Another spot thats worth a throw with this water is the kwelerga village side...Of note is that the inshore water from Gonubie point through to germans bay is on the grubby side , BUT there are a number of spots along the East Coast that will have blue water.[/color]
Sea temp is around the 18 mark , so it looks like a good sea and we just hope that the front approaching doesnt affect the water and conditions too much.
There have been reports of shad making a showing and we are approaching that time of the year when we start keeping a look out for the sards and this always is an exciting time...

Remember , stay alert at the waters edge as we have heard recently of the fisherman washed off the rocks in the Transkei ... so be carefull ou there and always pick up the litter!!!

:fshn: Mornings East Coasters , well weve come off a heavy dark moon spring and now on a nip tide weekend BUT as of this AM the sea still has a slight east surge on it...the water temp is around the 17 mark and the shore line is a tad grubby with the odd blue/green patches to be found....
With that high ridging in , we will have a strong east puffing the most of Saturday and as that cold front licks our coast , we can expect the west to come through quite stiff on Sunday ,
A fairly large swell is predicted , which is being caused off shore by that VERY low low pressure off south in the deep blue....swell and a sea state of plus 4,5 meters is expected and that in turn will spill out to , at least a 6 to 8 foot swell running on the shore line , so be alert out there Folks as a nip tide the tide wont move much BUT be aware of the swell size...
On Sat you have a high at 07h00 and on Sunday at 08h00..
Spots to look out for would be Cefani , left of the river always works well on a high outgoing ,,,another spot on an early AM high is Glen gariff off the ledges.....Those that want to venture in town , Green gates at eastern beach also looks good at the moment...
Some very nice kob have come out along the beaches at Cintsa and this might also be an option if the sea is a bit up this weekend..

:fshn: Good day East Coasters , well we on a bright moon spring and big seas at over 6 foot are predicted for the next three days....[/size]A stiff west is expected in the early hours of tomorrow morning and as I write this it is already puffing west...This is a good sign as it will clean up the water and raise the temp a notch or two. As you can see on the synoptic that front is well on its way to us,,,,[/color]
[/size]Tomorrow there is a low tide at 09h00 and on Sunday at 09h40...[/color]
Please note there is a predicted tide variance of over 2m...
IF,,,the swell is not too up , there are stacks of spots along the Jikeleza that work and fish well on a early am outgoing tide , BUT, if the sea is on its head , then two spots come to mind ,,,GlenGariff on the inside and Queensberry bay on the inside..
Should the sea be fair and I say that Sunday AM is going to be the window of opportunity should that west howl tomorrow AM....Yellow sands has a lovely hole in front of the caravan park....
Cintsa , west of the tidal pool has been throwing some shad this past week and Gonubie point has seen numerous shad coming out....
Please dont forget you size and bag limits Folks....30cm and 4 per angler...
The barometer has bottomed out BUT is still falling and will start to rise late on Saturday evening and the wind will turn southly in the Sunday late morning...
Sea temp at the moment is at 16 and hope to get to 18 by the weekend..
There is a fair ground swell running so please be carefull for those sidewashes when fishing off the rocks...

:fshn: Mornings East Coasters , we entering a nip tide weekend with a high tide at 06h00 tomorrow and at 06h30 on Sunday....The sea is running at an eastly 5 foot swell and predicted to rise to 7foot through the weekend...[/size]The water along the shore line is a tad grubby in patches and sitting at a temp around the 17 mark....the baro has dropped to around the 1002hpk mark and we have two fronts approaching and a coastal low passing as I type this ...[/color]
[/size]The west will come through by mid morning today and some rain is also on the cards...Tomorrow that west will gale through and then tap off towards tomorrow arvie...Once again Sunday early AM could be the window to get that line in the water...[/color]
Reports have come in that the Kei has been throwing some nice kob and what has been scarce of late is the number of blue fish being caught....
On these tides , one could do the trip to Cefane to the left of the river and wal up to kwenurgha and work the area on the outgoing tide...The water also looks good for a piggy and a nice chokka and prawn bait would not be out of place...
Ive had reports coming in of shad making their showing at Glengariff and thats another place to try on an early AM high tide...Another spot to get on the outgoing would be Glen Muir out front...water always works there for the odd silver and blues...
Over the past week , some East Coasters have worked the odd Jikeleza rivers and have come away with some success...

:fshn: Mornings East Coasters , well this weekend we have lekker early AM lows and late afternoon lows...the sea swell will be around the 5 to 7 foot range and most spots along the Jikeleza will be open to to fishing...You can expect a stiffish east the whole day tomorrow and as the two coastal lows slot in it should swing to west early on Sunday AM. The water is fairly clean with the odd grubby patch inbetween and the water temp is around the 17 mark...
You have a low at 07h30 tomorrow and at 08h15 on Sunday AM , we also have the tides two days either side of a nip and dark moon spring and this seems to be the whole of March , interesting to see what the sea delivers over these weekend tide set ups...
Spots to look out for would be Kwelegha with the east on its way , also on the Yellowsands side ...you never know a piggy might just be lurking...
Bulugha is MOST certainly an option as is Glen Gariff and those that are energetic , a short walk to Queensberry and Glen navar would not be out of place....
Myself and a few mates are walking to Rooiwalle from Cefane tomorrow and will overnight and walk back on Sunday . Will let you know how that side looks.
Shad are making their appearance and we must remember our limits as the first shad sometimes can come on thick n fast...
I noticed no surge or side wash and that is always a good sign...

w;k Mornings Folks , well we survived a thunderous storm on Sat evening and gale east on Sat during the day and then Sunday dawned PERFECT...no wind ,,BUT that east and sudden drop in pressure did us in.....Kenny got a barbel adn that was it for the rest of the weekend....Sunday AM the sea was chilly and gin clear BUT that pesky pressure was still dropping.....
We were priviliged to see not one but two otters going about their daily chores not far from our camp site and it was a pleasure watching them catching mullet after mullet and eating shell fish by the "tons"....I must admit , since this area is now only accessible by foot it is in PRISTINE condition...
Back in the day when conditions were on this 7 kay stretch of coast was like a highway with all the buggies and landies.....I have also not seen so many Jonny Dykers together in one spot , I counted at least thre groups of about ten each sitting around and/or swimming and diving for fish....
Oysters galore ...black mussel beds as far as you can see and of course , perlies the size of dinner plates!!!
The shallows were absolutely teeming with bait fish....bullies , puffies , mullets etc etc....Why no kobbies then??..Only that pesky pressure kept them away!!
Well ,...another trippie is most certainly in the planning stages already and this time we gonna watch that weather like hawks and will have two weekends on stand by...

:dunno: ..Nope...sad to say Gareth...no fish!!!...We got in 2 hours fishing as we arrived and then that beast eastly killed us...then that died at around 16h00 and we got in another 2 hours or so and then that vicious coastal low came through and the bottom fell outta the glass...So..ja....BUT...next time I will watch that weather alot closer!!

Well done Kent on surviving that storm, it came in hard and fast!! I was thinking about you guys out there! Hopefully next time there is some better weather and you can get more fish!

:hnthnt: ..Oh ja..Thanks Sir...jip it does.....well this stretch of coast does not see too many people due to the distance and also the land is 99% private that joins the coast here...so hence the last 15 years or so its pretty unspoilt...

:fshn: Good mornings East Coasters....well we having some much needed rain and lets hope this wetness lifts a bit of the dryness thats hit the local farmers in our areas.....[/size]NOW...getting to this weekends fishing , its going to be a dicey one and to get the timing right is the trick here for this weekend....A serious looking high has split two cold fronts , one of which we experiencing at the moment and the baro has risen to 1019hpk and still on the rise...BUT ..will start dropping by mid morning tomorrow as that second front makes landfall..Sooooo....IF I was a betting man , tomorrow AM would be a good time to go wet a line and then as that baro turns to rise on Sunday AM would be another good time....The thing here is we dont know how fast that cold front is approaching and how stubborn the high pressure is ....BUT....[/color]
Its to see when that barometer turns and starts to rise after that second front has been through....
For Saturday its a high at 06h00 and on Sunday at 06h45...Sat will see a stiff east come through and then tap off towards the arvie as that front settles in....Then the west will puff through the evening and Sunday am will see a light air coming through...BUT...once again we cannot determine the speed of that front....Sooo...those that want to fish will have to watch the systems closely...
Spots to lookout for will be Glen gariff...Cefani left of the river and even Cintsa is looking good on a high at the moment ....the water is at 17 and most areas are fairly clean to clear....IF this rain is further inland we could see the Nahoon , Gonubie and Kwelera rivers flowin brown a bit...
It seems the deep sea Marion sea state predicts an inshore swell between 7 to 10 foot ...So please be aware on the rocks this weekend , although its an inbetween tide , still expect some surge , should that sea state pick up...

:fshn: Mornings East Coasters.......well Folks we have two fronts about to move through our area and we can expect west wind right through untill Tuesday....With that west possibly getting up to gale force on Monday and coupled with a big swell running , predicted at over 10 foot...Soo lets be careful at the waters edge this weekend and with a bright moon spring approaching for Wednesday...[/size]You have a low tide at 08h00 tomorrow ...08h30 on Sunday and those fortunate to be off on Monday , a low at 09h15......So , some really good looking tides for the Jikeleza and most spots on our East Coast works well on these early AM low tides.......[/color]
Cintsa point with this west approaching could be an option , just watch that swell......Bulugha point an option BUT on the wild side would be better on a west wind.....Glengariff is always a good option on these early AM low tides......Cefane to the right also a very good option......A little on the Jikeleza fringe is a walk to Bonzas might also be an option early early before that west really gets up to speed tomorrow AM....
ONLY thing is the water is pretty chilly at 13 BUT as Richard Vlantisproved the fish and kob especially will still feed and dont discount a chance at a piggy with this chilly water...
There will be some rain as well the next three days and that is always welcome.
Another East Coaster Abrie Erasmus got a really nice kob yesterday aswell , so Folks , the time put in will produce the results....

:fshn: [size=78%]Evening Folks ...I am a bit early on the weekends fishing report as I have a early AM start and will only get to do the report later in the day and some East Coasters start their weekends a tad earlier than others...[/size]
So , with that in mind we are entering what looks like it could be a good fishing weekend. We have a cold front passing through our area over the next 48 hours and a high ridging right behind it. This then has us coming off a west wind and a rising barometer , two good indications for some decent opportunities to get into our kob , silvers and poensies. The shad too have been making a showing along our Jikeleza...
Tides are looking good with early AM lows on Saturday at 05h30 and with a change over of tides on Sat ...Sundays low is at 07h00...
NOW...most spots on the Jikeleza fish very well on these early AM tides . Cintsa point , Bulugha point , GlenGariff ….Kwelerga on the Village side is also very good for silvers and poensies...Also worth the trip is Haga and Double Mouth...Cefane , walking to the left and in front of kwenurgha is also a good spot for those drop shotists...
The water temp is a good 18 and at the moment no surge expected with a 6 to 8 foot swell predicted...So , working water will not be hard to find with these tides...Two lows at the best times of the day one early AM and one late arvie...
Two fisherman this past week have had some good success along the Jikeleza with silvers and using good ole fashioned red bait...Dont forget about this versatile natural bait. Remember , cut what you need and use as and when.
Once again on the fringe of the Jikeleza , Bonzas is worth a look with these tides and I believe that some of the ledges are nice and washed out. On the low , closer to Gonubie , just past Danger point you will find very nice ledges that hold silvers and plenty blues....
On the subject of blues , CONGRATS to local blues master Trevor Browne on his 200 milestone blue fish!!!...WELL DONE indeed!!!

:fshn: Mornings East Coasters...well , its been many moons since Ive seen the baro pushed to the top of the glass as i have seen it the last few days and its topped out at 1034hpk!!!!.....What this tells me is that we are in for a MEAN beastly eastly...BUT ...we do have a coastal low creeping up the coast and a fair sized cold front hanging off Cape Town.....This might just just negate this VERY serious high pressure and the east might not come through as expected...but , by all acc[/size]ounts the east will blow this weekend with the odd north wind thrown in between , known in the cape as the devil wind....[/color]
Also of note is that there is a pretty strong east ground swell running and during this weekend that swell will change to a ssw direction and the swell will pick up between 6 to 8 foot ....So , watch those pushing tides should you be fishing a low tide spot...
Tomorrow you have a low tide at 11h00 and on Sunday at 11h45 ...we have just come off a dark moon spring and the water temp is not bad at 18.....As of yesterday it still looks fairly clean BUt I did notice the Gonubie and Nahoon rivers looking a tad grubby...
Spots to look out for , with the east expected would be Bulugha fishing towards the Glen Gariff side .....Cintsa , west of the tidal pool , Kwelerga village is also fairly protected from the east and if you feel like a drive Pullins bay out Haga way also has some nice ledges to fish on an east as well as Double Mouth ...BUT..if the sea is up and surging then these two spots might be a tad difficult..
Ive heard of no reports of catches coming through this week and lets hope we get some action this weekend .

:fshn: Mornings East Coasters , well as I sit and write this we can see by the early mornings we are entering our winter months and numerous catches of shad have been had and one or two Aloes are starting to show their colours....
This weekends fishing sees us on a bright moon spring and a fair amount of cold front systems passing our southern shore tip .....this in turn has created a deep sea ground swell and we can expect a swell running from Saturday onwards in the 10 to 12 foot region , now whether that hits our Jikeleza shore line or not is the million dollar question AND with it , bringing a surge ...
So , with the added springs please be VERY aware when you at your low tide spots on the low tide , those surges can catch one out....
With this in mind , tomorrow AM you have a low at 10h30 and on Sunday the low is at 11h00...
The water has cleaned up nicely and there will still be the odd grubby patches along the coast....your deep water points like Cintsa , Bulugha , Kwelerga should be clean already...
The water temp is still chilly around the 15 mark , although certain spots will feel warmer than others..
At the moment the swell range is in the 5 to 6 foot range with an even swell running. The wind today will be light east and variable and as that next front hits later this evening the west will blow gale tomorrow and the expected big seas....
Spots to look out for would be Cintsa point....Chefane to the right as the tide goes out and Glen Gariff would also be a good option.....IF the sea is not too big then Double Mouth would also be good on these tides....
Gonubie on the Wooden shoe to German bay side has been giving up its blues this past week and that might be an option as well...another spot often overlooked is the Glen Muire and Glen Navar areas as well as Queensbury which also holds its fair share of shad....

:-( Mornings East Coasters...well , as we look at that synoptic it tells a very beastly eastly story for this weekend I am afraid....This coupled with a big ground swell running from those intense cold fronts slipping off south and swells of 20 odd feet running past Marion......The roaring Forties is truely living up to its name!!!....Although we have had west for the past 4 days and the water is very clean and quite warm.....[/size]Sooo...the secret this weekend is going to be to find a corner out of the east OR hope that the early AM tomorrow is still calm before the east blasts through.....[/color]
Tomorrow you have a low at 10h00 and on Sunday at 10h55...very nice outgoing tides for a early AM session and also nice tides for most spots along the Jikeleza...
Cintsa Point....Kwelerga.....Glen Gariff....Queensbury and Gonubie Point are all good options if you hunting some "piranaha"...AKA shad....
News of kob has been fairly quite and I have heard murmurs of yellow tail "seen" at a few spots on the Jikeleza......Should you find a gap this weekend out of the wind and a fairly calmish stretch of water , then dont forget a surface plug or two....
Well , Folks , other than the water temp and colour looking good Im not too excited about prospects this weekend ...BUT....as the saying goes , no line in the water , no chance!!!!...

:fshn: :rck" Mornings East Coasters...well as I write this , the shad have made themselves know and most of our Jikeleza deep water points have been producing shad....Now while shad is not the ONLY fish around ...it is at this time of the year when there is quite a nice electric vibe in the fishing fraternity AND Ive often come across people chatting WHO dont fish asking ...are the shad here yet???...[/size]Soo...its a great time ..it keeps the fisherman busy and where the shad are there is always frenetic action and many fisherman busy planning their weekend outings around these feisty fighting fish...[/color]
NOW..what the shad do do is attract larger predators and as we know shad always are present where the food is ..ie bait fish and in particular sardines!!!...Small pockets of these little silver wonders have been past our coast line and in the next months to come we hope to see a lot more sardine activity..
With this in mind , we are coming up to a damn fine condition looking weekend with the present systems off our coast at this time of writing....The water is still a chilly 16 BUT it has cleaned up and there is a fair 3 to 4 foot swell running with no wash or surge expected...
We on a nip tide weekend and tomorrow you have a low of 04h00 and on Sunday at 05h45...These tides are good for thos pushing tide spots along the Jikeleza and still low enough for those early AM sessions at most deep water points......Cintsa...Gonubie ...Kwelerga comes to mind.......Queensberry bay also will give you an opportunity...
Remember Folks , be safety aware during the shad frenzy sessions as most want to be in THE ZONE for shad and at times it can get congested...Those sard boxes also need to be put into rubbish bins and not left on the beach/rocks....
The wind will be very light west and turning to north east on Sunday arvie ...the baro will steadly start rising from tomorrow am onwards as that high ridging in slowly forces the three cold fronts out of the way...
Well , this past week Ive heard of kob , silvers and the odd piggy come out so , lets hope we have a bumper weekend and see lots of pics here on Monday AM!!!

:shrk: Mornings East Coasters...we on a full bright moon spring this weekend and at least a 5 to 7 foot swell running from the eastly direction.....I did notice yesterday a bit of a surge but that would be normal as to a bright moon spring.....
Well , as far as conditions for fishing goes its gonna be an IFFY weekend...the water is still at a chilly 15 and with the west yesterday and spilling over to today a bit , lets hope its warmed it up a tad....
That being said , the east will start puffing again from mid morning today and as that west Atlantic high ridges in it will blow a gale tomorrow....
Then right behind that is another weakish cold front and we will get pretty light west blowing in the early early hours of Sunday AM...
NOW...window of opportunity would be on Sunday AM early as the baro will start to rise again and you have a low tide on Sunday at 10h00...This is a good tide for most spots on the Jikeleza and especially those deep water points and one can get onto Cintsa point quite comfortably....
Saturday AM is a low at 09h30 , but Im afraid it might be a blow out with that beastly eastly coming through early....
NOW , its not ALL negative ,,,those of you with the patience and perseverance . this coldish water and the slight off colour is also good for piggies...Ive heard of quite a few coming out at Easterns and on the West bank side...The Jikeleza has its fair number of piggie spots as well and one in question is the Chefane /Cintsa area......GlenGariff bay has also been known to hold a pig or two...
So..get some fresh sand prawn and some nice chokka and good strong sharp 6/0 hooks and not too heavy sinkers and go find a pig!!!
Also with this chilly water the raggie hunters will be licking their lips...
Keep kwelergha in mind as well and the area between Sunrise and Kwelergha is also good and tends to stay clean....
From Germans bay through to Bonzas has been very quiet and the blues fisherman have also had lean catches the past week or so.....
The fisherman that keeps his eye on conditions as they unfold this coming weekend will be the fisherman that gets the catch , its going to be all down to how that wind will puff and to time the baro and tide at the optimum time....

[/size]What had been also interesting , is the lack of info coming in of blues being caught , then again maybe conditions have not been spot on for them....[/color]
[/size]Getting onto this weekends fishing .., we have a nip tide weekend and moving into a dark moon spring for next weekend,,,Tomorrow you have a low tide at 01h30 and on Sunday at 02h45...So , those of you who like an early AM session it will be on a pushing tide...[/color]
[/size]Chefane to the right has always produced on a tide like this and another spot that is very fishable on this tide is Glen Gariff.[/color]
[/size]The wind this weekend will be very light and variable as that front approaches and slips off into the big blue with a rather weak high ridging in behind....the water temp is sitting at a cool 16 and maybe with the west that has blown for two past days it maybe might bring that warmer current closer...[/color]
[/size]Of note , a few raggies have also been caught and the water has been fairly clean , so they too will bite if the temp is to their liking and not only in dirty water...[/color]
[/size]The Glen Navar Muir area can also be fished fairly comfortably on this tide.....An area that is often forgotten about is the Haga area...especially those that want to take a late morning drive and catch Pullens as that tide turns around 08h00...[/color]
[/size]So , this weekend looks like its good calm weather for some time at the waters edge , just be alert as ever , even though its a nip tide , the swell running westly will be between 5 to 7 foot , hopefully no surge or sidewash..[/color]

[/color][/size]Sunday will see the wind calm alot and back to that anticyclonic mode...[/font]
[/color][/size]Well , what does all this mumbo jumbo mean for our fishing this weekend ...
While that west , might , bring the warmer current in , as the temp is a chilly 16 at the moment , the barometer should be rising for most part of the weekend and that is always a good sign for some good fishing....[/font]
[/color][/size]We are on a dark moon spring this weekend and while the swell predictions is at 3 to 5 foot range , with an eastly ground swell running, one needs always to extra aware around spring tides...Remember low tide spots get lower and that tide also pushes quicker when it turns , so plan your outings accordingly..[/font]
[/color][/size]Tomorrow you have a nice early AM outgoing tide with a low at 09h15 and on Sunday at 10h00..[/font]
[/color][/size]With the chilly water lately ,and super clean, some notable catches of piggies have been coming out and especially along the West bank and Sunshine coast areas.....when hooking and landing these fine fighting fish , please , I urge you to show some restraint and opt for the release rather than the keep.....many thanks..[/font]

[/color][/size]So , we in for a BIG sea on saturday and spilling over to Sunday....We have a nip tide weekend and heres hoping there is no surge OR bad sidewash...[/font]
[/color][/size]You have a low tide at 01h50 on Saturday and at 02h50 on Sunday , for those early AM outings it will be on a pushing tide.....[/font]
[/color][/size]Cefane springs to mind and with the water we have been having and all the pigs coming out at the moment , its worth your while to keep some fresh prawn and chokka handy....[/font]
[/color][/size]The shad have been fairly loose this past week and the local Gonubie shad OUS have been having a ball at night...[/font]

:fshn: Good mornings East Coasters ....well we have had a few nippy mornings and up until now it really hasnt felt like winter....This being said and as we speak a rather serious looking front is about to , if not already , smack into the Cape peninsula ..[/size]As often happens along our Jikeleza we tend to just just miss the full force of these winter fronts and almost always get the tip of it as it slips off into the big blue....WELL....this one is going to be no different and the winds this weekend can be expected to be light variable as that weakish high ridges in behind the cold front...[/font]
[/color][/size]There is a small coastal low forming BUT how much that will effect us will only come to light in the middle of this coming weekend...[/font]
[/color][/size]NOW , this past holiday we just had , not too many stories have filtered through on many catches on the Jikeleza and maybe the stiff west most of yesterday kept the fisherman hunkered down...[/font]
[/color][/size]We are on a bright moon spring this weekend and seas expected between a shore line swell of 6 to 7 foot and hoping no surge is coming with this spring tide weekend...[/font]
[/color][/size]Tomorrow you have a a beaut AM low at 08h45 and on Sunday at 09h15...With these tides and those that like an early AM session , most spots on the Jikeleza are very fishable ....the sea is at a very nice 18 and a very good clean colour...[/font]
[/color][/size]Still no significant sightings of any sardines and we still hoping that we get a decent run this year ...This almost always sets the tone for a good summer time fishing spree...[/font]
[/color][/size]Cintsa Point , Kwelerga and Balugha should be good options this weekend and of course a short walk left of the Cefane river always has good beach sand bar options.....[/font]
[/color][/size]Two spots that are also overlooked at times are the two Glens...Navar and Muir...these two have VERY decent gutters and gulleys where you would find some decent poensies to test your mettle....remember , show some restraint when targeting these magnificent fish.....[/font]

Mornings East Coasters....as I write this we have a front that is approaching and PE has already been "frosted" over and Im sure by this arvie we will have that west come howling through with some ice on its wings!!!

[/color][/size]Well ...what does that spell for us this weekend as far as fishing goes....firstly , lets hope this front and the big one behind that high will push in some cooler water from the roaring 40,s and we get to see a decent showing of sardines this year as it looking less and less likely we will see a decent showing....[/font]
Well , onto this weekend and tomorrow you have a nice early am outgoing tide to a low at 08h15 and on Sunday at 09h00 ...also remember Folks , we are on a dark moon spring and while the Jikeleza deep water points are very favourable with these tides , please be aware of the spring push when that tide turns....
NOW....from later this evening this west will probably get up to a rate of knots and will be peaking out at around 45 plus kph tomorrow AM....two spots come to mind that are fairly sheltered with a heavy west and that would be Glen gariff and kwelerga on the inside...also Queensberry could be an option...
The water temp is around 18 and please keep in mind there is a strong ground swell predicted with an inshore swell of between 8 to 10 foot.....sea colour looks good and should improve as the west puffs...
NOW...once that front passes and that barometer turns and begins to rise , Sunday AM dawns with fairly light NW wind and soon changes to a stiffish SE later in the morning ...So , the window will be from early AM Sunday till around 11h00
This past week has been quiet and even shad reports have quietened down , BUT lets hope we get some fishing in this weekend...

Still no sign of REAL sardine activity and the odd smallish bait balls have been spotted off PE and then along the Wild Coast into the KZN South Coast , but , many of thes dive charter groups that are out almost every day say that the big shoal is off way into the deep blue as there the water is cooler …
That being as it is , our fish along our coast still have to eat and we will hope this weekend they want to eat our baits and lures….
We on a nip tide this weekend and tomorrow you have an AM high at 06h45 and on Sunday a high at 07h15…swell is around the 4 to 6 foot range and no surge or wash expected…water temp is at a balmy 18 and the colour is clean and clear…
On the catching front its been pretty quiet and once again maybe the odd fish has come out and the fisherman are on a low profile due to all the recent shad activity , although this has also gone quiet as Ive seen hardly any activity of late along the Gonubie Point area…
Spots to look out for tomorrow as the west will come howling through . would be GlenGariff , Queensberry and also Cintsa Point as the tide gets lower ..these three spots you will have the wind behind you …Sunday AM will dawn with very light wind until around 12h00 and then as that high ridges in the beastly eastly will puff away…
So Folks , the conditions don’t look too bad and always remember to watch the water and stay safe.

:blush: Mornings Folks....well its with a rather "bruised" and embaressed ego I write this today....Yesterday my son and I dodged a bullet..
We , with my two brother in laws and the one son , did a trippie out to the Sunshine coast around the Kidds Beach/Palm springs area at a small river mouth called Ncera...and just a few 100 meters down the wa is another spot called leonards which is a fairly deep water point.....NOW...I wanted to get to Ncera as the formation off the rocks into the mouth area just scream kob!!!.
We walk the short walk past Leonards to Ncera and my brother in law says ...Nope , the water looks a bit heavy and they went back to Leonards..
My son and I satyed and without a hesitation hopped up onto the rocks where I normally throw off.....everything looked fine and after a few throws my son hooked up just in fron and I said ...lets tie the line onto a rock and we get the spoon once the tide has gone out a bit..
As Im doing the tying ...he calls...wave....as I look up here is a 4 footer about to smack us in the head ...we get washed off , fortunately into a deep gutter behind the rocks we were standing on and hat ..glasses go missing and we are drenched with the odd scratch here and there ....no broken bones OR rods and reels BUT me angry at not following my own advice about watching the water FIRST,,,then get onto the rocks.....an hour later we go back and my son actually finds my glasses ...so all ended well BUT could have been a VERY negative outcome....

:fshn: Mornings East Coasters , as I write this a nice looking front has hit CT and we should feel the affects of it later on today , the north wester we experiencing at the moment is fro the rear end of the high that has just passed and temperatures should drop from this arvie on into the weekend....the approaching front son close behind this retreating high , indicates a bit of rain and heres hoping we get some as we surely do need it...[/size]Well , onto this weekends fishing and we are moving into a bright moon spring towards next week and while big seas are not predicted ,,PLEASE be alert when at the waters edge ..[/font]
Tomorrow as that cold front settles in we will have a rather stiff west for most of the day tomorrow , BUT...fortunately our Jikeleza has a few spots that can be fished quite comfortably in a stiff west
Glengariff , Queensberry , Cintsa point are three that come to mind and we also have nice early AM outgoing tides ....tomorrow you have a low at 07h50 and on Sunday at 08h30
There is a 4 to 6 foot swell running with a shore line of around 3 t 5 foot...when fishing at these low tide spots , be aware of the turn of the tide and as it starts to push...
Catches have been quiet and even the local Gonubie blues fisherman have been scarce along the coast here...
As to the sardines , they too have not made a significant showing and the water has been too warm for their liking..
This being said , the conditions dont look too bad for Sunday AM as that barometer starts to climb and Sunday AM will have light variable wind until around 10h00 when the beastly eastly will start to puff as that front goes by...

With the rain we had the past week , the Nahoon and Gonubie rivers were flowing pretty briskly and with a result the shoreline between Gonubie and Bonzas has turned a bit grubby and that BLAST of an east we had has chilled the water all the way down to 14 , so , I bet the raggie fisherman might just be smiling…
Normally when it rains a bit , spots like GlenGariff , Queensberry , Glen Navar and Muir stay pretty clean and this weekend are some good early AM low tides for these spots as well as being fairly protected from a stiff west….
Now , reports coming in of fish being caught has been very quiet , unless thye fisherman are just keeping a low profile …with this in mind we need to be mindful this weekend as a strong eastly groundswell can be expected with an inshore swell possibly running between 6 to 9 foot , with two large low pressures that have passed deep south this could very well produce a fair surge as well..
With a low tide at 07h15 tomorrow and at 08h00 on Sunday , one must please be aware of the change of the tide as it turns to push , especially on those deep water points and one in particular Cintsa point…
I heard a distant rumour that two nice piggies came out at Cefane this past week and that is also a place to check out with this coolish water BUT not sure how easy it will be with the wind predicted as on Sunday as that big high ridges in the wind will switch to a beastly eastly pretty quickly by early AM…
Remember , along our Jikeleza , when conditions look adverse and you still want to fish , there are many nooks and crannies you can find where to hide from the gale winds and still have fun with blues and the humble blacktails , on the note of blacktails , think twice before you keep one….
Well Folks that’s all for this weekend and of late the sea has been a bit otherwise BUT for those fisherman who are prepared to be patient and persevere will get the fish…

Mornings East Coasters , well , we have come off a dark moon spring and last weekends was a dismal fishing weekend , although I have , once again , heard of some piggies that have come out around the Kei mouth area BUT still no pics have come to light to prove this….
The west we have had the past three days has cleaned the water up very nicely and the temp has risen to a balmy 19 degrees and this , should , be a good sign for some decent fishing this weekend…
Tomorrow you have a high tide at 05h30 and on Sunday at 06h10 with a ground swell running at 4 to 6 foot BUT Sunday the two fronts that have slipped by the Cape will have pumped up that west drift ground swell to over the 7 foot mark , Sooo…Folks be alert for sudden surges , although we moving into a nip tide it shouldn’t be too bad….
With highs early AM its always good to give Glen gariff , Kwelergha , Queensberry and of course the Cefane area worth a look…Apparently on the high , the area between Glen Navaar and Muir is also worth a look…
On the stretch between Gonubie and Bonzas has been very quiet and one can only assume it has sanded up quite a bit….
Tomorrow and Sunday , should the sea not get too up you will see the usual blues fisherman during the midday plying their trade as that tide hits low and then starts to push….Please remember , with this cleaner water and the said temp there is always a chance of a poensie grabbing that well presented bait of yours and may I ask to show some restraint regarding these majestic fish….
The wind will be light north west tomorrow and for part of Sunday AM and as those two highs ridge in will change to east …
Well Folks , the pics of fish have been scarce and lets hope this weekend we get some report back of some fish that have been caught and please remember , pick up the litter!!!

:fshn: Mornings East Coasters and as we enter the final stages of winter and the anticipation of spring next month , we are still in for some chilly weather as a large cold front is about to smack into Cape Town as we speak AND as we know at times thes big fronts slip off into the big blue and at times miss us by BUT..be prepared for a chilly weekend.....
As this report goes out we have a NW devils wind puffing and air temp will go up a few notches today and also the little coastal low cruising past will assist that front approaching and the west will puff quiet steadly on Sunday AM......Tomorrow will see a fairly gently west with that coastal low and then pick up as that cold front touches down.....
Well , last weekend saw some Jikeleza locals get a few fish and maybe thats a good sign as summer approaches and this weekend we have excellent early AM tides and that is always good for our Jikeleza coast as most spots fish VERY well on a outgoing / low tide and especially early AM..
Tomorrow you have a low at 06h30 and on Sunday at 07h20 ...please note we are approaching a bright moon spring and always be aware as that tide changes and starts to push especially on those low water points...
The sea temp is around the 18 mark and its nice and clean ...with a westly ground swell running at between 4 to 6 foot and we once again hope no surge or sidewash , BUT we dont know how severe that front is off in the big blue...
Spots that come to mind would be Cintsa Point.....Bulugha Point , but you gotta get there early tomorrow before that west gets up....Cefane to the right of the river as that tide turns on the low always a good option for kob and even a piggie if you lucky.....Bonza Bay ledges are worth a check to see if those sanded up areas have been washed out a bit.....Another good area on these tides is Haga , especially near the beach towards Marsh strand,,,always fishes well for kob , and poensies and silvers with this nice clean crisp water...
Well Folks , thats all for this weekend and conditions really look good for some decent fishing...

At times and at certain spots the water gets a rush...[/size]That being said tomorrow you have a high at 05h03 and on Sunday at 05h41...NOW...those that like an early AM session will be hard pressed to make a little trippie out to the Cefane and Cintsa beach areas as these areas fish quite well on a high outgoing...[/font]
The only thing that could just be a jinx is that high pressure hanging off our west coast and when that ridges in the wind will turn beastly eastly...an early AM start will see you with near windless conditions on both days of this weekend and by early I mean at least 04h00 to 0800 you should have beaut conditions albeit with some rain....as those coastal lows come in off a weak inland system...
As to the water there is an inshore swell running in a westly direction around the 4 to 6 foot mark and the temp is a tad chilly at 16 ...water colour is not bad and spearo viz is probably down to 5m...
Remember the spots I mentioned and with these water conditions a piggy is NOT out of the question...the area between Rainbows and Kwelerga Village is also a top spot with this tide.....
The rivers have producing some nice kob and those fisherman enjoying time on the Jikeleza rivers , please show some restraint when the kob are thick and biting freely...

In my humble opinion , tomorrow is going to be the window of opportunity...
This being said , no line in the water equals no chance of a hook up...
Please pick up the litter and be aware of your immediate surroundings when out n about this weekends fishing...

In my humble opinion the window of opportunity will be Sunday AM as that west peters out to a calm 5 to 10kph...the baro should get to around 1020hpk as that high ridges in....most spots anlong the Jikeleza will be spot on in these conditions , just hope that there is not too much of a large swell left over and no surging...
The water at the moment still looks cleanish BUT this beastly eastly today might cool things down quite a bit and turn a few spots grubby....water temp is around the 17 mark and as i said might drop off....
Remember , IF that swell is not too much on Sunday AM dont forget those stretches between Cefane and Cintsa on that outgoing tide....

:fshn: Mornings East Coasters..well , we moving into a nip tide weekend and heres hoping we have a decent sea with no surge or severe sidewahes..The water at the moment looks pretty good and the colour has improved over the past few days...temp is sitting at a decent 18 and should not drop too much with this light east puffing today....
Now as that high passes our shores we have a decent coastal low forming with a back up from a front moving into the western cape area...BUT...for tomorrow AM that coastal low coming in off of that high will bring a devil wind and on the whole a north bergy wind is generally not good for fishing....then as that blow moves along the south wester will puff and that barometer will also rise ever so slightly...
Soo..its going to be an iffy weekend and the tides are also a tad awkward for our Jikeleza as tomorrow you have a high at 09h00 and on Sunday at 10h35 , both mornings , should you like an early AM start , you will be throwing on a push with an inshore swell of between 4 to 6 foot running BUT at least with a decent ground swell interval of at least 12 to 16 seconds push...
A nice comfortable sea to fish in BUT with the prospect of a very dead barometer...
Those that like scratching for blues , blacktails and the likes will probably have the most fun....the kob , poensies and silvers I fear might be in deeper water OR sitting tight till the pressure is right OR feed madly just before that front hits and then we all will probably be back work..hehehe
Spots that come to mind on these tides would be Cintsa beach area and Cefane.....IF you get a later AM start then Glen Navar and Muir areas would be a good choice IF that devils wind doesnt puff to hard....
Well Folks , its a weekend that looks like it could produce OR be as dead as a doornail ...as they say , no line in the water no chance of a bite...please pick up the litter!!!

:fshn: Mornings East Coasters..well well...I am actually at a loss for words this weekend and looking at the systems off the west and south of our coast line i am not sure in which direction this wind wants to blow..hehehe...[/size]That being said , the water is not a bad colour although it is a tad chilly at around 16...We on a bright moon spring this wekend and once again please watch those tides as they turn from dead low to the push...also always expect a surge or sidewash with a spring tide and especially id you fishing on our deep water points...[/font]
NOW...as you look at this snap shot of WindyTY ...you will see off our east coast and just past Madagascar is tropical cyclone Carlos which is slowly making its way towards the Australias and at its peripherals are wind speeds up to and over 80kph...you can also see as its cyclonic action in clockwise our east coast is getting the backlash as a beastly eastly..
Then to the west as those two fronts converge we get that west coming through...all this upper and lower wind happening at almost the same time cam make for some very unusual weather locally..Soooo...with that in mind ...EXPECTED...for tomorrow the east will still puff and then the west should , by mid morning on Sunday come through with a slight dropping baro...as to the baro with these pressure systems falling over each other , the baro is pretty static and movementt is but a point or two up and down....
This jiggly movement of the barometer is not really conducive to bringing the fish onto the bite...
You have a high tide at 04h11 tomorrow and at 04h46 on Sunday...these are actually very nice tides for most spots along our Jikeleza and with this outgoing tide you can be assured , should the wind play along, that you will find some nice early AM holes to fish in...
My spot choices would be Haga ..Double Mouth...Glen gariff....Glen Navaar and Muir areas as well as Cintsa.....
Well Folks , as the saying goes ..no line in the water....
Be safe out there this weekend and enjoy our pristine piece of coast line and always remember to pick up the litter...

w;k Hi Shaine ...well keep a look out for my fore cast tomorrow AM BUT we heading into another iffy weekend with lightish winds on Saturday BUT a stiff west and pretty heavy rain predicted for Sunday ...BUT here also the next 24 hours will tell us a story as that tropical storm moves west wards over the interior...stay tuned and we hope tomorrow brings us good news....

:fshn: Mornings East Coasters ...well we in for a wettish weekend especially looking at conditions looming for Sunday AM...as you look at the screen shot of WindyTV , you will see that our weather , and particularly along the SA shores , is being largely dominated by those two very large high pressure systems to the east and west of the country...[/size]Slap in the middle and now moving just off PE is a low pressure and that will bring us some much needed cooler temps and a west wind to warm the water a bit , although the sea temp is at 17 , it could do with a degree or two warmer...[/font]
The barometer has dropped ever so slightly BUT will start rising steadly late tomorrow arvie and then Sunday AM is looking good for fishing as a whole...all that might put a spanner in the works is the HEAVY rain expected ...
Some say that that tropical storm has affected our weather here locally ...well...to a larger degree I beg to differ ..to a lesser degree it has moved slightly more moisture towards the coast than normally would be expected with these weather systems at the moment....my point , is be wary should you find yourself fishing at one of our tidal rivers along the Jikeleza...should they receive water in the catchment areas , one cannot tell when that river will come down in a flash...
Tomorrow you have a high at 07h56 and on Sunday at 08h53...a fair groundswell running in an eastly direction and should top out at around 4 to 6 foot inshore...we are on a nip tide this weekend and expect no surge or sidewash BUT always keep one eye on that tide as it turns to the push...
Tomorrow AM sees a light south wind which will puff south east and then late arvie as that low pressure approaches swing to west...the west will last untill mid morning Sunday and then that western high will present itself....
My opinion on the window of opportunity would be Sunday AM as that baro starts to rise and GlenGariff comes to mind as does Glen Navaar and Muir....IF the sea is not up then early AM Double mouth is a very good option..
Those venturing towards the rivers , stay alert and especially the Kei...should the Kei catch alot of rain up river it can and will flow pretty strong AND it also fishes well should you follow the colour line with the push of the tide....
The water at the moment looks pretty clean and may get grubby as those rivers start to flow ...

:fshn: Mornings East Coasters..well well...the two systems off our coast look damn fine for a good fishing weekend indeed,....BUT...and in life , especially in fishing there is always a BUT,,,[/size]The water , after a few days of east and a very south eastly swell running which was mostly wind swept AND with pretty hard and heavy east winds battering the west coast and Nambia has pushed tha cold Benguela current further east than normal and the warmer Aghulas is now deeper....with this west and west again on Sunday it should push that warmer water inshore...[/font]
Right now the temp is around the chilly 14 side and pretty grubby along the shore line....I suspect the shark fisherman will be licking their lips at the prospect of a few raggies and the odd skate here and there...
If one looks at the Windyty screen shot , this in my opinion is going to be THE window of opportunity fro this weekends fishing...From 04h00 to 10h00 on Saturday AM....rising baro and near windless conditions
The only thing that might put a spanner in the works is the temp of the water...we are on a nip tide this weekend and you have a high at 07h35 on Saturday and at 08h25 on Sunday..those of you that like a bit of night fishing , this evening would also be a good window , near windless and not a bad tide , with a high at 19h05 and then you fish a gentle outgoing tide. Especially for those that are looking for kob and piggies in this chilly water...
Two good spots for evening are Glengariff and those that know Gonubie at the Wooden shoe area....
Sunday AM will see a west come through at that low pressure passes and that cold front taps us ever so slightly and late arvie will that high ridge in and the east will blast...Dont forget this weekend will be a majority rising baro with a slight drop off in the glass early evening on Saturday...
Timing will be crucial this weekend and both windows Ive mentioned would be worth a look. Also the Cefane area with this tide and water temp is a good option for that pig...
One thing , those using red bait or rock bait , please cut off what you need and dont rip the whole pod out OR use the ones that wash up on the shore line...

Tomorrow am sees you at a high tide at 03h30 and on Sunday at 04h05 .....so both mornings its an outgoing tide....most spots along our Jikeleza fish well on an outgoing......just to time the wind and baro will be the trick....

:hnthnt: Mornings Folks ...well , a midweek update and the outlook looks damn promising for the weekend and especially Sunday AM early ...ALTHOUGH...there is a largeish swell predicted due to the cyclonic activity of Fernando...BUT..as we look at the systems coming in from the west , its starting to look like a typical winter set up....those coastal lows with a front behind them and that high chasing close....looking good and now we pray for cleaner seas and NOT any surging.....

:fshn: Good morning East Coasters ...looks like we might just have a decent weekend fishing , condition wise AND IF the sea behaves itself with no surge OR a heavy ground swell running...BUT ..that will only be seen as that cold front taps our coast line much later this evening...[/size]What is comforting is that the water has cleaned up and the temp has gone up a few notches and is now hovering around the 18 mark ..., although there will still be grubby and cold patches along our Jikeleza and the trick will be to find those 'warm" and good looking water patches....
I would suggest just off of some of our deep water points the water should be cleaner and a tad warmer , with this warmer water edging in and alot cleaner be on the alert as early showings of shad have been caught...
Tomorrow you have a high tide at 06h50 and on Sunday at 07h20.
We on a bright moon nip althoughh moving into a dark moon spring ..Sooo....with the last two cyclones that have passed the Madagascar west coast , it has caused the sea to be a bit unsettled and we might still be feeling the "aftershocks" so always be wary of those tides as they go from low to the push....[/font]
With a high this early . its a lekker outgoing tide for those that like to walk n stalk and a no better place than the Chintsa beach areas along to Cefane....should you find some cold grubby patches , a pig might just be hanging out there....
My bet would be Sunday AM early and until around 11h00 am before that east comes through...Saturday is going to be a bit of a west bluster and two spots that offer shelter and fair fishing would be Kwelerga and Glen Gariff also Pullins out Haga wa next to the black high rocks....
IF..that west does not puff to stiff too early tomorrow , then Glen Muir and Navar on the push is also a very good option....
So , all in all , it looks promising and also watch that just offshore line for any bird and dolphin activity as this is a sure sign of early red eye sards and other bait fish , always lekker to fish in an area when this takes place....

:fshn: w;k Mornings East Coasters , well we have cooled down somewhat and some nice quenching rain to take the sting out of the heat over this past week......
Onto this weekends fishing and by all accounts looks pretty promising ...we moving into a dark moon spring and as of yesterday and this morning no big seas or any surge expected but as always with the approach of a spring tide , please be alert at the waters edge , especially as that tide turns to push...
Tomorrow you have a high at 02h35 and on Sunday at 03h10...these are two great early AM outgoing tides and our Jikeleza fishes pretty well on an outgoing and it coincides with an early AM...
Three spots come to mind straight away...Bulugha Point area ...Glen gariff and Cintsa point....remember Cefane to the left of the river and then make your way back as that tide pushes....The wind tomorrow should be a gently south wester and that baro is on a steady rise and by tomorrow AM it should almost be topping out at 1019hpk and getting to that magical number....NOW..with this light wind , also then , dont forget about the two Glens...Navaar and Muir...both have good gutters and gulleys on an outgoing...
A good little walk of about a kay is from Queensberry towards Cintsa ...some beaut nooks and crannies along there and with this water that has cleaned up very nicely and the temp hovering at 17 you could very well be in business....
Just out of our Jikeleza boundary is the Bonza bay area between Gonubie and Bonzas...I believe the recent heavy seas have washed out some nice holes and gutters , always been a good drop shot and rubbers area....
Bearing in mind with this water cleaned up and that bit warmer , it means the poensies might be in action and a fresh pillie mix grill might just do the trick and try and release them ...
Silvers are around too in this water and some fresh red bait would be a damn fine option....remember Folks , should you want to target these two fish , have some good solid tackle ...strong hooks and make sure your line is of a good quality...playing one of these fish for hours on end does it no favours should you want to release...
Sunday AM ...will also see you with a light north wind and while this is a bergy IT MIGHT not be warm as a devils wind is not good for fishing BUT the water will be spot on....
My prediction the window will be tomorrow AM from 04h00 through to 10h00...
Well Folks , thats all for now and make use of the approaching good looking conditions as of late we have had a torrid time as far as conditions go....

There is a rather pesky high pressure hanging off the Nambian coast AND its pushing those two frontd pretty smartly … We got a slight west for most part of the day today with a very SLOW rising barometer . The baro will top out around thw 1019hpk mark and it will hover there pretty much the whole weekend. Sunday sees a fairly brisk beastly eastly come through and with that windswept southly swell it will cool off rapidly the sea…..
Sooo…what does this all mean as to when and where to fish as the tides are high early AM. Saturday sees you with a 06h31 high tide and on Sunday with a 07h19 high tide , awkward tides at the least , which leaves you with a low around midday on both days.
High tide fishing on the Jikeleza can be awkward at times , although much success has been had along the Cintsa and Cefane beach areas…Glen Gariff off the front ledges is also an option on a high tide. We on a nip tide this weekend and a southly swell predicted of between 4 to 6 foot inshore. Once again beware that tide change from low to pushing…
It seems the shad are showing themselves and as we get to that time of the year where shad frenzy takes hold , I implore you to show some restraint when getting onto a good shoal of shad….
I say the window of opportunity will be tomorrow AM on the high and I have mentioned one or two spots that could produce on this tide…
The water at the moment is around the 17 mark and a lemon twist colour , which , in essence , is a good combination ,,,

:fshn: Mornings East Coasters...we entering a VERY beastly eastly weekend IF you look at the synoptic as at 06h00 this morning and my baro is sitting at a steady 1024hpk , although it did drop 8 points overnight AND ...as you look at that screenshot of the animated map you will see why the baro has dived a bit...a VERY small cutoff/coastal low has formed and is being very stubborn and NOT being pushed by that high ridging in along our coast....Should this continue overnight we will[/size] [/color][/size]see a fair amount of water fall....[/color]
While the east is very slight at the moment I predict the wind will change later this arvie into the evening to a very light air north wester and that Folks will make for a fairly comfortable early AM fishing session as well as Sunday AM...BUT by 10h00 on Sunday that high will prove too much and the east will blast through....
with this system developing you can expect high temps on Sat and Sun...
We have lekker early AM outgoing tides this weekend with a low on Saturday at 08h28 and on Sunday at 09h00...as always just watch that tide as it turns to the push as we are entering a bright moon spring phase...
Sea temp is around the 17 mark and the water is a lemon twist colour which is not bad at all....with a 5 to 8 foot inshore swell running and a tad southly watch out for those sudden surges....
Spots to look out for would be Cintsa point early morning ....Bulugha point and Glen gariff could be options as always and even Glen navaar and Muir....kwelerga Im sure will have its fait share of shad fisherman this weekend as they came out there during this past week....
Folks with the sard and shad season looming . remember to update your fishing permit as the MCM officer will no doubt redouble their efforts at this time of the year re spot checks etc etc...

[/color][/size]Winter is an exciting time for fishing ...sards are expected...shad will be in their droves and the monsters that follow these two foods will also now venture closer inshore , you have your fast sharks and with these cold fronts comes westerlys and that warmer blue current flows closer inshore and we can expect to see all those game fish again that are so prolific along the KZN coast..[/font]
As you see we are already have the first of those two fronts on our doorstep and the wind will be west for the best part of tomorrow and Saturday and sneaking in a few early hours on Sunday AM....As That weakish high ridges in the baro will start to climb from tomorrow evening and slowly through the day on Saturday...
The water is still a tad chilly and grubby in places and is at a 15 degree mark ALTHOUGH this west today should bring those degrees up pretty smartly...
Windows of opportunity??...Well , my opinion would be early AM Saturday and CERTAINLY early AM on Sunday....Your beach areas from Cintsa point through to Cefane is always a good option with an early AM high moving into an outgoing....

:fshn: :shd: :shd: Good morning East Coasters , while the Easter weekend did not seem to produce too many catches , all that west has certainly cleaned the water and the temps are hovering around the 20 mark...[/size]I do believe the shad are making an appearance and while many fisherman see shad as bait , shad fever is always an exciting time and it gets the good ole fishing juices flowing...[/font]
[/color][/size]Onto this weekends fishing , we have some nice looking early AM low tides and as you all know our Jikeleza fishes well on the outgoing to low tides and especially early AM and again in the late arvie early evening , for those that prefer a later start to the days fishing sessions...
Tomorrow sees you with a low at 07h09 and on Sunday at 07h51...Both mornings will have light to no wind and with this high pressure settled over our coast its with a fairly steady barometer at around 1021hpk....now I have never really been a fan of a steady barometer , a moving barometer is almost always better and a rising one even better ...BUT ...we have a good sea with a 4 to 5 foot inshore swell running and a nice colour too...[/font]
Although last weekend the east only came through late on Monday evening and then switched to west again , lets not be surprised IF the two fronts off of CT push their way through and hit us mid way through this weekend....
Once again . with these tides you can look at the deep water points such as Gonubie , kwlerga , GlenGariff , Bulugha , Cintsa and even push as far as the Cefani rocks to the left of the river...
These types of sea conditions also suit Haga areas as well as Double mouth...Soo...many options and choices this weekend along our Jikeleza ...
I for one will be fishing my local spot tomorrow AM in the Gonubie areas and then on Sunday , with the light north wester predicted , will make a trippie out to Bulugha Point...
Well Folks , it certainly looks like a good weekend to get out and about as far as the weather goes and please be aware of those tides as they are on the turn to push ...we are heading into a dark moon spring phase....

:dunno: Mornings Folks , well just a quick update as to conditions....was out at 05h00 until 08h00 and not a touch...water colour is good...swell good and I felt no surge or side wash...BUT....possibly this inshore water could be a tad TOO warm???.....and as I was wading , chest deep to my pinnacle I noticed at least 8 rays/skates moving around slowly in the shallows....not sure what that means..

:cry: Mornings East Coasters ..well , quite frankly , I dont have much to say as far as this weekends fishing goes....the water is at a very chilly 13 and pretty grubby at most places inshore...even a self respecting piggy would be hard pressed to come onto the bite with this water as it is at the moment....[/size]Big baits are the order of the day and Im sure the raggie community will be out in their numbers.....[/font]
[/color][/size]As You look at that synoptic , that low pressure will probably only come into play around Friday next week and then we in for a clean up west again....BUT for the time being its gonna be a pretty slow weekend and week ahead for fishing....[/font]

My brothers at our place just north of coffee bay had 11-12 deg. lots of fish washing up and a boat at sea said lots of stunned fish floating on the surface. mainly tropical species it semed, incl fire fish, all sorts of angel fish and surgeons etc.

Yes, much the same, triggers, angels, barracuda, lionfish......... it was a first for me and the fishing was bad, only managed a small sand shark and two Cape stumpies the whole time!!

I'm not an expert but as far as I know the water temp around Eastern Cape is mainly influenced by the wind direction. East brings cold water and West will warm up the water. We had a week or more of fairly persistent Easterly so that is probably why !

w;k Mornings Folks ...an attempt to answer the above re the cold water...yes the east wind does bring the cold Benguela current in and we had 7 days continues east due to two VERY stubborn high pressure systems AND I get info from Marion now and then and the last email did mention a large upwelling of the Antarctic current pushing northwards...so all these factors produced these very cold waters off of our coast ...well ..weve had west for two days now and west predicted for the next 4 days ...Soo...that warmer Aghulas should be pushing closer shortly... :-)

100% we had four days of strong easterlies down there, same thing happens in Durban quite often if the NE blows for extended periods!!

:rck" :fshn: (clap) Mornings East Coasters.....you get a perfect storm and THEN you get a weather system that screams GO FISH!!!...As you look at this synoptic you will see just that ...a "perfect storm" for fishing that is!!![/size]With this west puffing the last three days and the barometer still dropping , it is lining up for a DAMN fine fiching weekend , conditions wise...The tides are also very good for our Jikeleza and tomorrow sees you with a low at 07h25 and on Sunday at 08h03...early AM starts are on the cards for this weekend , the water has cleaned up somewhat and the temps sitting at a much warmer 16/17...
THEN as you look at that synoptic you will notice a high riding in between two cold fronts and then this means the baro will be rising from tomorrow steadly through the weekend as well as coming off a good west wind....VERY good indicators for some good fishing this weekend , also moving into a bright moon spring , so watch those tides as they start to push....[/font]
Folks...let me say this as a heads up ..TOMORROW morning is the window of opportunity...keep this in mind...
Also remember , that most reef fish have been ducking and diving the cold water over the last week and MUST be pretty keen to get back into their inshore gutters and gulleys...fresh bait and make sure those lure hooks are sharp and ready!!!
Spots to look out for would certainly be all the deep water points ...Gonubie....Kwelerga,,,Glen Gariff....Bulugha ...Queensberry.and Cintsa Point are certainly worth a look....The Cints beach areas to Cefane also worth a look as that tide turns and pushes in....

:fshn: Mornings East Coasters....ONCE AGAIN we approaching an iffy weekend with regards to conditions for fishing....As I left home this morning for work the barometer was sitting at a very solid 1027hpk and still climbing !!!......[/size]NOW...should that hold , we in for a serias wet beastly eastlu BUT should that cold front behind it pick up some speed we could very well be in for a pretty windless weekend....should the latter prevail , well then , we might just be in luck and get some fish....[/font]
The water temp is still at a chilly 15 , but its still clean and the swell still did look a bit up on the Gonubie wild side , swell prediction inshore is around the 4 to 6 foot mark BUT please remember we have just come off of a bright moon spring...
Watch those tides as they turn to push , tomorrow sees you with a high at 04h51 and on Sunday at 05h20 ...so , both mornings a nice outgoing tide ...Spots to look out for would be Glen Gariff....Queensberry ...Kwelera...the two Cintsa and Glen Navaar and Muir could very be well worth a look IF this wind does not arrive....at the moment it is already light and variable....
From now untill tomorrow mid day would be a good window of opportunity for a fish as then I think that second cold front will come into play...much speculation has been going on in the Jikeleza wattsapp group and I must admit , the weather reports and websites have us all betwixt and between ..hehehehe
Be that as it may , the adage still stands...JUST GO FISH!!!!
Shad have been coming out and your deep water points along the Jikeleza would also be worth a look...where there are shad there are the bigger fish!!!

:tite Mornings East Coasters ....well weve just come off a bright moon spring and actually heading into a somewhat iffy weekend as far as fishing conditions are concerned....there is a fairly serious looking front approaching the Cape , although in the last 12 hours it has slowed quite a bit due to being squeezed a tad by those two high pressures...What is of interest is the coastal low coming along our coast line and this should keep things fairly comfortable and fishable...[/size]The sea state is at 1 and swell will be running between 2 to 5 foot with a very small movement from a high to low tide and no surge predicted or expected as yet...water is clean and the temp touching the 20 mark...[/font]
You have a low at 05h40 tomorrow and at 06h45 on Sunday morning ...both mornings will see a slight north wester puffing ...that front off of the Cape will probably only make landfall late Monday early Tuesday and with those highs squeezing it will probably drop a lot of water in Cape Town...they need it!!
How that front is going to affect us this weekend I am not sure BUT one thing is for certain ...ALL bony fish will sense that dropping baro LONG before we even see the glass drop....
Soo..my humble opinion ...Sunday AM will be the window of opportunity and I see tomorrow AM being a bit dead ....
Nice tides for our Jikeleza with an early AM push I would try out the Cintsa beach areas and Cefane as well.....Glen Gariff off the front ledges fishes well on the push , just be wary of that Bulugha point on a push....shad are still around and the odd kobbie has been coming as well...
When the conditions are iffy like this with a fairly small calm sea it is always good to make a trippie and try out the outer limits of the jikeleza...Double Mouth...Haga...Morgan bay areas.....especially between Haga and Double Mouth....its worth the walk ...

:fshn: Mornings East Coasters...well well well...FINALLY some decent sardine action along the Natal South Coast and from the intel coming in its been some very good hauls by the netters...THIS then is a very good sign and at this time of the year I always have mixed feelings about a good sardine run , coz on the one hand they keep the kob away and the other hand , a good run sets up the summer fishing season very nicely!!![/size]According to those in the know , these first shoals are pilot ones and a HUGE bait ball was spotted deep south off of the TK coast line this past week!!!....[/font]
Moving onto this weekends fishing....we have just come past the winter solstice this past Wednesday and now moving forward the days will get longer and the sun will be getting up a tad earlier...not noticeable the next two months BUT by end of August we will start seeing the light slightly earlier...
With this in mind , we are also now on a dark moon spring this weekend and , yes , a fair surge is expected and with a swell of between 4 to 7 foot running , its a sure thing to watch those tides as they go from dead low to that push especially that first two hours of the push and the last hour before full high....
Tomorrow you have a low at 10hoo and on Sunday at 10h40..
Both mornings are good out going tides and we all know the Jikeleza fishes well on an outgoing and especially early AM...
Both days look damn fine for some decent fishing and albeit the air temp will be chilly , we have a good sea temp at around 18 and colour is spot on...wind will be light north wester with that high ridging in after this cold front has passed and the baro is topping out at 1023hpk and probably too steady for my liking BUT I think the reef fish are gonna be on the bite...poensie,,silvers ...MAYBE a pig...kob will be in the pot as well and of course the ever present shad at this time of the year!!!...
I think the shark fisherman are also licking their lips at the prospect of a few fast sharks around namely tips and BEEG greys and the likes of LEGENDS [/color]Justin du Preez and Greg Kellermann will no doubt be out n about this weekend at their fave spots with a big bait out!!!
As to spots /??...well ..you would be hard pressed to find the right cadence this weekend as most IF not ALL the Jikeleza deep water points will be on line this weekend and especially the beach areas on the dead low as that tide starts to push....
Folks...it almost looks like a "perfect storm" for this fishing weekend and choose your spot carefully and you have NUMEROUS to choose from!!!
Please stay warm and safe out there and remember ALWAYS pick up the litter!!!.

Regarding the leeries..the stock has collapsed..at some point it is going to be officially recognised, the scientists been saying that it has collapsed since the early 2000's when the stock was in a lot better shape than now. the main stock has been off the kei for the last age, where they are getting further hammered, the eastern cape stocks are hammered beyond after years of us carefully releasing them trying to help the stock claw its way back, it actually was starting to get pretty good when there as a few years without any sardine runs..those fish never came back after the last few sardine runs..Last time I saw lots of breeding size leeries was 3 seasons back and where we fish we are traditionally in the thick of it..My numbers of leeries caught and released spinning (of which most were large-xlarge size) from the side were 3 seasons ago : maybe 15-20 fish, last season 1 fish and this season none. We had one day off the boat this season where the found the mass of rats and it was cast for cast on the 2-5kg jobbies, with fish chasing and nipping at my FG knot (2 sessions in a row fish were doing that, so over high vis braid haha) and hooks pulling and another fish jumping on a few times and typically a few fish swimming with each fish being caught..we lost count of the fish caught and released and those fish that went north 3 years back made some babies! Last year throwing net for mullet in southern cape rivers, I was catching more of those handsize yellow/silver babies than baitfish, so there are enough little ones for recruitment of a future stock, and they grow quickly. But, the fish that made those rats and babies are gone..the stock can recover but it needs a concerted effort from all who fish for them north and south to conserve that stock of little ones that are around and few big fish that are left.
But ja..kenty not a leerie man..those cob are missing you boet, hope that you are fishing again!

Mornings Folks...well since my last post in June of 2017 was around the time I had a nasty incident on the rocks...since then I have probably fished once after that incident which was in the August 2017 and then never touched my beloved SL30 and spoons again UNTIL two weekends ago and went for a throw...happy to report that Im still a fisherman ..hehehe...anyhow , will keep the Friday updates coming and here is the report for this weekends fishing....as far as the leeries go , this year I will be at a local leerie spot called Cove Rock and that will be in November , last year they actually got some very good catches and I do believe ALL fish were released. The run lasted for a week and then the leeries moved off towards Natal....so looking forward to this November...
Mornings East Coasters ...arrrggghhh...thats how I feel when I see the weather system coming along our bit of coast....the very last summer systems are still trying their luck AND that high pressure you see lingering is whats gonna mess up this weekends fishing chancers...

The barometer has so much pressure in it adn should and will top out tomorrow until at least Sunday midday at a staggering 1028hpk...ONE huge beastly eastly gonna puff tomorrow...not nice at all...
Sunday morning , with that cold front pushing in , the baro might start to drop and the wind will be very light variable....this then would be this weekends best window of opportunity for a throw....
Tides are somewhat off for our Jikeleza , should you want an early AM start ...Our Jikeleza fishes well on an outgoing to low and especially early AM....Low tide is midday on bothe days and not really conducive to productive fishing ...
Saturday sees you with a high tide at 06h20 and on Sunday at 07h08...we have just come off of a dark moon spring and no surge is expected ...the swell will be at 3 to 6 foot inshore and running at a east/north eastly direction and with the east wind you may find that your bait and sinker will have a sideways drift....
Well , I really dont have much else to report other than timing this weekend will be crucial and Sunday AM will certainly be your best bet...spots to look out for would be Glen Garif....Cefane as that tide turns and possibly Glen Navaar and Muir on the turn of the tide ...with this coolish water , remember that there may just be a pig or two out there...

:-) Well Folks ..let me tell you ...the lack of me writing and giving reports here is NOT from lack of interest OR being slack ..Its just that for at least the last 10 months or more its been ATROCIOUS and just plain crap conditions along our East coast...last weekend was the first time in a very long time that I saw conditions that suit my kinda fishing specifically and true to the conditions I was kept busy by "bumping" kobbies only thing was that the water itself was pretty chilly...
Im hoping to give more feed back going forward as I see some really good looking systems approaching our bit of coast line..
Soo...Ive been getting ready with my spoons and hopefully have something to report this week for the weekends conditions coz we are really looking good tide wise aswell... w;k :fshn: :fshn:

Water looks really fine this side so far and with a stiff west for today and tomorrow and then slowing fro Thursday through to Friday with very light air for Sat and Sunday AM as that baro climbs steadly....BLIKSIM!!!...It really is stacking up nicely...

Tides are really BEAUT with a low at 07h04 tomorrow and then at 08h09 on Sunday , and as the locals know the Jikeleza fishes well on an outgoing tide AND it coincides with an early AM....
Bulugha ,, Glen Gariff ledges...Cintsa point(shad are coming) ..even a walk to Rooiwalle towards Haga would be a good call...thats some pristine untouched coastline right there....
I will be on my local Gonubie spot tomorrow AM and then a trip out to Bulugha point is on the cards for Sunday am early...

:dunno: Got down to my spot that I call Devils this morning 05hoo...I noticed with a low at 08h00 , the water was still actually very full...so I sat a bit and had a coffee and watched the water for about half n hour and noticed a strange "pull" on the water ...not a surge as such BUT rather a pretty strong ground swell running , although the sea was pretty flat and when the waves did come in the sets they were quite strong for the size of the sea , which was small by all accounts....
From throw one I felt rattatat tap on my spoon and thought ..oh boy..small shad ...small shad equals SIZER kobbie!!
I landed n released about 10 or so very small shad (sorry no pics but I throw off of a very wet pinnacle)....If you look at the pic attached , in the middle you will see two pinnacles right next to each other , thats where I wade/swim out to....Walkerskiller mate Gavin has fished with me off of that pinnacle...
Anyhow , I threw all around the strike zone and not one enquiry from a kobbie...conditions were/are perfect...water colour. :corrct: Temp :corrct: outgoing tide :corrct: bait fish :corrct: rising baro :corrct: very slight west wind :corrct: ..BUT..just no kobbies...Sooo..this arvie will be back there AND tomorrow AM before that east gets up to speed.... :fshn:

Let me share with you what my morning was like this morning from 04h30 to 08h00😊..Im up and my stuff packed for an early AM fish...no wind..super clean water that is also super warm at around 23...I get to my spot and as that first sliver of silver light that shows like Obi Wans light saber in the dark..😎..
I start my session and one hour in I suddenly notice 2 heads pop up in front of me...2 otters...they check me out and move off and then I spot another 2 and another 2...these guys were catching mullet after mullet....what a great sight!!!...time for coffee and after a quick break Im back on my rock to fish more...not to long I see a HUGE group of dolphins🐬..slowly cruzin by and I decide to hop in the water just 20 odd m off from the rock I was standing..sea was small and absolute beaut to bob around as the dollys were going past....Im about to get out and to my right I see a very triangle fin and NOW its time to get out ..I climb back onto my rock and a few moments later ..some 15 m off from my rock this juvie GW comes slowly cruzin past...could see him as clear as daylight in the gin clear water...Smiling I think how blessed I am to see this...not every day you see a GW this close..🐟..Im now thinking ..WHAT A MORNING!!!...AND..adding to that the 10 or so Kingfishers I saw earlier fishing in the shallows...I go back to where my bag is to have some more java and as I put my glasses back on I happen to look up and about 400m off shore I see a pod of Orcas🐳..WELL...I just sat down and took it all in...
Folks...you wanna treat your kids...kick them outta bed early and go watch the sea....You never know your luck!!!😉😊😎..You may get blessed just as I was!!!

At the time, I realised that had I been fishing with friends or my kids, we probably would not have seen them (specially with my eldest daughter, who talks incessantly :D... but I love her to bits). I have also snuck up on many a croc, buck, some incredible bird life... I enjoy fishing with mates, but I also enjoy my own company quite a bit too.

Well after gooing this weekend in almost pristine conditions...the east puffed on Sunday and Monday arrived with a rising baro again and after work the tide looked good and the water temp was down to 19 inshore...
The kobbies were on line as that sun set...3 landed and one dropped ....A BEAUT SESSION!!!

:hnthnt: ..SL30 will be getting a new main shaft bearing and a new shaft...then I got some of those beauty kwik clips and I see pricing is still good...NOW..line to me is always a issue...first of all its Sooooo expensive....secondly I am no pro AND thirdly with spinning all the time ie throwing over bricks it takes a beating...no matter how good the abrasion temperament is , stretch factor etc etc...I still cannot justify nearly R200.00 for 600m of ,40 or ,45 line :cry: ..

I am sure spinning for a cobbie it's just fine..just give a few extra loops on your knots and test them well..If I can recall knots with doubled up DID NOT work with it, they slipped through everytime when tested, never had a line that slippery.

:-( Good day East Coasters , well after last weekends smashing conditions we are in for a real blow out this coming weekend... :rain: :rain: :rain: ..Besides the rain , which is most welcome , the high pressure sitting just off of our coast will make sure that beastly eastly puffs firmly from early AM tomorrow right through the whole weekend...
The baro is at 1014hpk and rising , will peak out at 1024hpk by Sunday mid morning BUT I am afraid that east will do us in as far as having decent fish...
The water , when I checked yesterday was still pretty grubby and chilly , but should warm up a bit with the west blowing at the moment..
We coming off of a dark moon spring , so those venturing out please be alert as the swell is up and predicted to run inshore between 9 to 11 foot...a surge is expected ..
Awkward tides for our Jikelkeza with a high at 05h32 tomorrow and at 05h57 on Sunday...
IF the wind is not up tomorrow morning then this would be your best window to fish...

:fshn: Well mornings Folks , well well was I surprised this weekend....with the prediction of an iffy weekends fishing and BEEG east winds expected , Saturday dawned with very light air and by the time I got home from work at 13h00 the air was still very light AND the sea really looked good ..not big at all...[/size]So quick change and down to my spot for at least an hour or so throwing...after about 15 throws lucked into a small shad and the next half hour was busy hooking shad afetr shad ..all small BUT lotsa bait fish in the water...I thought I would and could work through the shad and the kobbies MUST be around BUT not to be and the west actually came through stiffly...Onto Sunday and once again . very light air in the morning and I waited untill that outgoing tide was nearer to low and popped down to my spot again...onjce again the shad were still in attendance and couldnt work through them befor the east chased me off of the rocks ...So..all in all quite an entertaining fishing weekend to say the least ..sorry no pics BUT its a wet spot I throw off of and the shad all released at my feet.... :-)

I've noticed that weather forecasts recently have become very erratic... From spot on to way off. I've also seen that on a 10 day forecast, the picture can change radically from day to day. I wonder if that has any correlation to the extremes that the world is experiencing weather wise.

Also regarding weather prediction, if you can read the synoptic, doing it yourself is much more accurate IMO. Then with windguru and YR.no and others like it you can get it pretty spot on most of the time.. but to predict 10 days in advance is quite a guess at the future these days with the best tech, or in the past..You'll only be right if the weather is naturally stable which SA is not known for being. Sure in the tropics you can guess accurately what the weather will do long in advance and be spot on most of the time but sometimes you will be way out, the nature of the game. 3 day predictions based on your own local knowledge and synoptics can be very accurate.

Ok ..Bamboes...let me say this a high pressure normally brings an east wind...now we have the Agulhas current that runs from the east to the west and starts drifting into the deep somewhere near PE as it hist the cold Benguela current...under normal conditions...when the east puffs real hard then it assists the cold Benguela to hug the coast more and push the Aghulas off of its course and we get cold water inshore...this is the scenario for us here from East London to Durbs...NOW the Westerncape and further west is a different story...your main current is the cold benguela and then of cours the Mighty Atlantic.....getting toy your raggies ..here along our way when the east blows for a few days the raggie fisherman start licking their lips as that water turns chilly and very murky...and its almost a given that a raggie fest is underway.... :shrk:

Right Folks as I look into the midweek weather and conditions looming for this weekend , weve had a beastly eastly for nearly 3 days on the trot and our waters are brown to say the least and while the welcome rain is welcome our Gonubie , Kwelergha , Haga Haga and Kei rivers have come down...Sooo..thats a lot of freshish water into our shore line AND with this west from yesterday arvie and today , heres hoping it cleans things up a bit...
With this in mind I must give a tip and tomorrow Id say between 17h00 and 20h00 is a BRILLIANT solunar window...also with this west it should have cleaned things a bit and there is very light air as well as a good sized sea , no surge or sidewash...tide is good so I strongly suggest put a line in the water.... :fshn: :fshn:

:fshn: :fshn: Good afternoon Folks , well I am a tad late with the weekends update BUT better late than never they say w;k ...According to the solunar readout and moon transient , we are on two days of K@K fishing ...BUT...as I look at the water , wind predicted and what the barometer is doing ...it certainly dont look too bad to me...tides are also good with a low at 05h48 tomorrow and at 07h26 , it is the change over of tides and I know its always believed by the toppies of yesteryear that this change over is never a good time for fishing...BUT...I do take a one eyed look at the solunar and moon holding patterns BUT to me the water condition..tide and barometer speaks louder...AND..the water is a nice colour and the temp is around the 17 mark...no surge expected or sidewash and a inshore swell of between 2 to 4f running...
I would say that tomorrow early AM and Sunday early AM would be good times to go fish...many spots along our Jikeleza that fish well with these tides...
So Folks , there you have it ..I will be fishing bothe days and lets see how it turns out...

:fshn: Well now..that you mention it Bamboes...I fished this past weekend in freezing water BUT the other conditions were spot on..lotsa small shad and tons of bait fish in the water...weve had two days west and I threw yesterday after work and water was much cleaner but still chilly...NOW..heres the kicker ...we have a low approaching BUT a high that is a bit stronger ...a BEEG west is predicted for Thursday and big swell that will be running in a westly direction ..so Im sure there will be a surge...BUT...as I look at it the window will be early Thursday BEFORE that west pumps and the swell gets too up...I would say from 04h00 to 10h00 AND its a good outgoing tide as well...
Sadly Saturday and Sunday will be blown out as that high ridges and that beastly eastly will come through gale...
Will Post a detailed update tomorrow as the next 24hrs unfold... :tite

You have a low tide at 10h18 and just be extra aware coz we are on a bright moon spring...swell is predicted to pick up and just be wary of any surge...
Glen Gariff and Bulugha point come to mind and should you be Cintsa wa give the Cintsa point a look BUT...just be careful there as that tide turns to the push...fisherman have been caught out there before and cutoff on the point...
Well Folks , make sure those hooks are sharp , keep to the bag limits and release the rest... :tite

:sreel: Mornings East Coasters...bar the water temp and colour we actually have two good looking mornings in Sat and Sun as far as the wind goes....This west that has been puffing for the last 24hours should have cleaned and warmed things up a bit...last I checked the temp was sitting at 14...[/size]We have a high pressure sitting just off of our east coast and two cold fronts passing our southern tip and will just just give us a lick...this being said the barometer has been moving up n down like a jack in the box and sometimes this could be a good thing ...IF...the wind does not come through too strong...[/font]
Tides are very good withy early AM outgoing and you have a low tide at 06h47 tomorrow and on Sunday at 07h51...with the shad showing and making appearances , numerous Jikeleza spots come to mind...Cintsa point being one good spot...another would be Bulugha and Glen Gariff , also dont discount the two Glens ..Muir and Navaar..
We moning into a dark moon spring and the swell direction will be a southly with no surge or wash expected...should range between 2 to 6 foot on the inshore , with it picking up late Sunday...
Also note that tomorrow morning early it will be a slight bergy wind and you will have a flat smooth sea early on as that southly swell is head on....

:fshn: Mornings Bamboes , no I dont...I have an old pool thermometer that I just toss in the shallows when Im down at the waters edge...it gives a good indication BUT on that note with this west puffing the last day or two , should have warmed the water up nicely ...when I last checked on Tuesday it was sitting at 17....
We have a high pressure hanging over us at the moment and the barometer is sky high...I think it will reamain steady the whole weekend and tomorrow morning the wind will switch to east ...
You have a low tide tomorrow at 10h37 and on Sunday at 11h04....also note that we have just just come off of a dark moon spring and the swell indicators are between 3 to 7 foot...I suspect we will still have a slight surge left over from the previous days heavy seas....
I think windows of opportunity for both days will be tomorrow early AM and Sunday before the east wind gets up to speed.... :sreel: :tite

:-( Good day Folks ..its been a SLLOOWWW winter for me and to be quite honest the sea has not played ball....half of March and April full month things looked good and then halfway through May it all went pear shaped...BUT..those that stuck to their guns did get some shad ...really nothing to write home about....two local youngsters who really take off shore kayak fishing to another level did very well this past winter...BUT...September is just around the corner...its getting lighter earlier and I will be after those kobbies again in a BIG way....so keep watching here for updates as from next weekend its full steam ahead!!! :fshn: :fshn:

Good day Folks , while its been over a year that I posted here and believe me its not from NOT wanting ..its just pure and simple from not having anything to post OR report on conditions.....really...
That being said I did go for a gooi this past Sunday and its the first time in MONTHS that Ive seen half decent fishing conditions....
This reminds me of a time when my toppie told me about the Western Wall...this is the main harbour break wall in East London ...
This Wall became so famous ..a fishing club with its name was even started ...
After a typical good kob session one evening ..all of a sudden the famed Wall fell silent...
My toppie told me of the hardened fisherman never knew what to do with themselves...they now could not set their clocks/watches to the Wall as the kob ...piggies ..silvers were not coming out when they were sposed to ...sure the odd fish would come out BUT the normal patterns were all over the place and boy oh boy the fishing fraternity at that time was in a spin of note....
He told me ..this went on for nearly 4 years....I mean these guys used to swop their work shifts according to The Wall... :hyst: :hyst: ..anyhow..so the troubled on and then BOOM..all of a sudden the Wall was BACK!!...and life returned to normal and I bet many a household was pleased as fish started getting served on tables again at regular intervals....
The point is....prior to ...I would say Feb 2019 , I could pretty much predict the conditions by looking at the weather systems coming along our coast and call it....BUT as from Feb last year its been a prediction nightmare of NOTE and conditions have jst been all over the place....Soooo...here too , while fish have come out it certainly has not been normal...
Well , this being said Folks , I see systems coming through and I somehow getting a feeling we may just be normalising to say the least ...well for our small 80k section of the coast at least...
Will post an update here closer to the weekend...stay safe ..

A lot still needed to learn, actually in all aspects, especially in trying to predict what the baro will do in the next 24 hrs.

:fshn: Good day Folks...went for a throw on Sunday morning..water super super cold and the colour was not bad....BUT...
What is getting me excited are the tides for this coming May AND going into June...while winter onset and winter itself is not my best time of the year for kobbies BUT ...Its probably the first time in about 22 months that Ive seen anything close to what I would call normal as to the weather systems approaching us from the South Americas...
Starting with tomorrow it smacks of the systems that were lined up for the 2017/2018 season and looking very similar...Sooo..heres hoping and hopefully will be giving some good positive feed back here soon soon!!! w;k

w;k Been scanning through this thread and got to 2015/2016 where the weather systems were looking good and I was landing kob on a regular basis....compared synoptics to the one as at 06h00 this morning and they are identical in set up ...and IF I look back towards the South Americas and what is approaching us in the week ahead...I can only say ..it SEEMS to be systems that will bring a balance back to our part of the coast...
As I mentioned in my previous post today , tides are looking normal once again...so ..lets see... :fshn:

:-) Mornings Folks, a quick report back on conditions as of yesterday...
Was down at my spot at 05h30 and low was at 10h00...sea was not up BUT the cold water is still hanging around , we have a low pressure that has gone through and a west that puffed and Im sure the warmer water has been dragged in closer to shore...
I must admit , I did see quite a bit of bait fish in the shallows , although the water was a tad grubby and very cold , my ole pool thermometer read 13...
I threw for about 2 hours and about an hour into the session got a proper rattle...Im sure it was a smallish kobbie BUT..sadly they will not comitt in the icey water...
This coming weekend has a 2 very promising looking systems and bodes well for some decent water conditions...tides are a bit awkward for my local spot but will work around that...

:fshn: Mornings Folks ...well , I must admit it certainly does look good for a throw this weekend , especially tomorrow ...As you see that high is ridging in and we coming off of a low pressure and a west wind...The water looks good and the colour has cleaned up a heck of alot..temp should have also come up a bit...Tomorrow sees you with a neap low at 12h30 and on Sunday at 13h20...I say your best window will be tomorrow 2 hours to low as that baro will top out at around the 1028hpk mark and that west will be light air...you will need to get busy before that beastly eastly comes through in the afternoon...Sunday is actually the better fishing day , solunar wise , BUT...by 09h00 that beastly eastly will be puffing pretty stiff...Spots to look out for along our East Coast will be Glen Gariff and also the Cefane beach area on the outgoing...

:-) Mornings Folks , ...Saturday I got down to my spot at 09h30 and low was at 12h30..water looked pretty good, colour and temp was spot on...not the right time of day for kobbie on spoon BUT always nice to scope ones spot out at a different time of day...although it was a neap tide sea , the water was a bit up and a westerly surge was running...what i did notice that the shallows was teeming with bait fish and then when i went down on Sunday at 11h00 water was even better but the baro had topped out at 1029hpk and it was now dead steady....the shallows and gullies had tons of small shad zipping about and with that in mind i was thinking , must be a kobbie about....[/size]BUT alas , nothing...time of the day and we now look to the coming weekend and early AM outgoing tides...stay tuned...

w;k Mornings Folks..well , I popped down to my spot yesterday afterwork for a 45 minute session and it really did look good..water colour...temp and no surge ...only thing that did me in was the sudden drop in barometer...kobbies do not like a sudden dropping baro..I could see the coastal low approaching ..It was great to get in a midweek session and the weekend really looks promising with great tides....will give an updated forecast here tomorrow....

Tomorrow the west will puff and hopefully this warms the water a bit and cleans it up nicely again...tomorrow sees you with a low at 08h23 and on Sunday at 08h51..
Both mornings very nice outgoing to low tides ,
Your window will be Sunday morning , although the west may be a tad stiff still then BUT the baro will be rising nicely as that high pressure ridges in ..
We on a dark moon spring approaching so please be aware as that tide bottoms out and then starts to push...
Spots to look out for will be Glen Gariff ..Bulugha point IF the west does not puff to stiff and of course Cintsa point BUT watch that tide as she turns ,,dont get caught on that point as the tide rushes in...

:clwn Afternoon Folks...this past weekend was really good to scope my spot out again on a decent tide and clean clear water...it was chilly , the water , and that is what I fear kept the kobbies away...
I get asked time and again...why just spoon?...and why just kob??...and why just over bricks?...
Well , for me its actually NOT about the hook up...kob with spoon over sand has been "dragged" to death.. :hehe: ..sorry for the pun...intended...AND why would kob NOT hunt in and around the bricks??.....
Well over the last 20 odd years Ive proved this over n over again....
Its all about the process ...and it starts on the Monday..looking at the weather systems...watching the water ..looking at the tides and the anticipation is stuff jet fuel is made of!!!..
For me , I like the "friendship" one develops with your spot(s) and the journey as you get to know them...I hadent fished my top spot for about 6 months and when I got to them last weekend it was like visiting an ole friend and then again this weekend...and for me its my spot..it speaks to me...and yes ..other fisherman fish there at times ...BUT..they dont fish it and communicate with it like I do... w;k ..My wife always says ..how can you call it MY spot??..well it is!!... :hnthnt: ...
I love getting down there and just chilling for say 5 odd minutes ..take in the smells , sounds and sights..
Then...that first cast as a loosener as that light breaks the dark is what its all about!!!..
the smooth swing..the SL humming as that spool spins on its sealed bearings ...the DS spoon hits the water without even a splash and you just know the entry is sweet...
You tack up the bit of slack and get the spoon up to attack speed and your senses are ALL tuned to what your rod tip is doing and how your spoon is swimming....
The bite??...couldnt tell you...BUT you will KNOW when that kobbie is ON!!...

:fshn: Mornings Folks , well we heading into an iffy weekend for fishing...coming off of a dark moon spring and the low tides are midday and that is always awkward for most spots along our east coast..[/size]Saturday you have a low at 11h34 and on Sunday at 12h05..So both mornings are early AM high tides ...As you look at the synoptic that cold front approaching will hit us proper on Sunday and the west will pump early on Sunday morning...Saturday will be your best window of opportunity as the winds will be very light and variable...Water doesnt look too bad and the temp should be around the 17 mark...Will have a follow up look at conditions later on during the day ...Stay tuned...

w;k Mornings Folks ...while CT has taken a battering with the past 2 cold fronts and one about to smash them again , we here on the east coast are now getting battered by a VERY stiff west wind...Sooo..its gonna blow gale here today and then ease off tomorrow...during tomorrow the baro will start to rise as that high ridges in behind and I think that Sunday AM will be the window...Showing light air and with an early AM out going low tide it might just be what the fishing doctor orderd...Tight lines and stay tuned ...

Mornings Folks , well we moving into a dark moon spring this weekend and with out going tides in the morning , bar the sea getting its back up , we may be in for a good opportunities weekend indeed...
Monday morning and this morning I went for a throw and the sea is really looking promising...
Saturday sees us with a low at 09h24 and Sunday AM with a low at 10.04...
The highs that are ridging behind two weakish cold fronts will be pretty slow in reaching landfall...Sat AM is going to be the optimum window...

Mornings Folks , well things are really lining up nicely along our stretch of coast this coming weekend...[/size]We on a dark moon spring and the sea has tapped off quite a bit and no impending cold fronts incoming...We have a high that has steadied itself off of the coast and the west will puff untill tomorrow morning around 10h00 and then the east will come through, your window will be from 05h00 to around 11h00 tomorrow morning before that east gets irritating, ....The only concern I have that the barometer is very very still , I have never liked a dead barometer ...BUT..the water itself is in pristine conditio ...Gin clear , about 22 temp wise , which might just be tad warm for those kobbies i am after...Spots to look out for along our East coast would be Chefane as that tide drains and then turns at 10h00 tomorrow morning with a low at 09h25..Cintsa point will be the spot for shad and then of course Kwelegha as well...Keep a watch as it is spring and be aware of the surge on the push...Keep the Faith and tight lines out there...[/color]

Good day folks , its the midweek peek to see how we looking for the coming weekend , ..we in for a neap tide weekend and as the systems stand , they look very normal AND promising for this time of the year...
I will say now , that the window o0f opportunity will be from 04h00 to around 15h00 on Saturday , Sunday might be ok..ish...BUT I think the wind will pick ...sea at the moment is not up , but those fronts approaching , may slip off south...
We will look on Friday and make the final call...

Good day Folks , well , well ...as you can see on the synoptic , really lining up beaut for our East coast/Jikeleza.....this low has come through and the west has been puffing steadly all day and its cleaned up the water quite a bit , the temp is around the 17 mark , a tad cool but could get up a few degrees overnight as the west continues to bring the warmer water in....[/size]You have a neap tide this weekend moving into a bright moon spring...you have a high tide at 09h02 tomorrow morning and a high at 10h35 on Sunday , with a variance of 0.6m throughout the 12 hour tide shift...Swell running at the moment is around the 5 ti 6 foot marks and its in a south westerly direction with set intervals of about 14 seconds...No surge at the moment of the water and no forseeable surge for both days ahead...Your window will be from 04h00 tomorrow morning to around 12h00 , then again on Sunday early...Spots to look out for would be Chefane as that tide pushes early AM and possibly Glen Gariff...Keep the Faith and tight lines...[/color]

Good day Folks , well I have had a really productive week of throwing spoon for kob , hooked quite a few shad and three kob , conditions have been just that good and predictable...[/size]As you can see from the synoptic , the high is ridging in and the west will puff along our coast untill tomorrow morning and swing to that beastly east around 11h00...BUT....here is the kicker , the cold fronts off of Gough are moving pretty fast and MAY just make landfall before the weekend is over , so , Sunday might be an iffy day for fishing...You have a bright moon spring low tide tomorrow morning at 09h18 and on Sunday 09h49 , with a swell of around 6 to 8 foot on the outside sets and a 14 second interval , but please be wary of the surge and rush of the spring tide , especially as that tide turns to the push...Your window will most certainly be tomorrow morning before that beastly eastly comes through...Spots to look out for would be Glen gariff , Kwelegha , Cints at the point for shad and Chefane beach on the turn of the tide ...Haga and onto the Kei area , the sea might prove to be too big...Remember Folks , ALWAYS fresh bait , the water is gin clear and around the 23 mark temp wise , do not be under gunned as our coast is Poensie and silver country with these type of water conditions...Keep the Faith and stay SOLID out there!!![/color]

Good day folks , well weve had some beaut winter cold fronts come through and weve also had some decent rain along our East coast....
Nahoon and Gonubie rivers are flowing brown and the inshore areas and surrounds are pretty grubby as of this morning , ..the west has been puffing steadly all day and last check on the water , it certainly has cleaned up since this morning....
You have neap tides this weekend with a variance of 0.6 m between a 12 hour tide period , high to low to high...
Tomorrow sees you with a high tide at 07h04 and on Sunday at 07h54...
As you look at the synoptic and very very week inland high pressure has formed and this will have a small effect on the systems this weekend ...
The west will blow through the evening and will tap off tomorrow around 10h00 and then as that high moves slowly past thepressure will rise...
Your window will be on Sunday from 04h00 through to 12h00 before that east starts puffing ...
On these heap tides and high early morning the beach drop offs are a must to look out for ...Chefane , in front of yellow sands resort and a walk along the way to Bosbok would also be a good bet...
The temp at the moent is around the 18 mark and will increase as that west shapes the warm current inshore....
The shad will certainly be on line in the blue water and fresh pillie is a must!!!

Good day Folks , we moving onto a dark moon spring and the two systems that have been idling towards our coast have finally made landfall and the west is on us at over 50kph gusts as I do this report...
Lovely early morning low tides sees you with a low at 08h02 tomorrow morning and at 09h10 on Sunday morning...the swell is running long an big offshore at around 10f and at an even 5 to 6 ft inshore in a south westerly direction ..I am not to sure about any surging , but one must always be wary during an approaching spring tides...
The tidal variance over a 12 hour period will be at 1,2m mark...
IF , the systems keep track , and the high ridging in behind the fronts , which will change things early Sunday AM , then your window might be very small this weekend ...
from late arvie on Saturday through to early Sunday AM...if you a night time fisherman , then you in for some calm...
It is going to be a very tight timing weekend this weekend and for one will be watching the barometer extremely closely...

Good day Folks , well , its going to be an iffy weekend along our east coast this weekend , and NOT to say you will not get a fish , but , its going to be hard work...
With that VERY slow moving high ridging in , its going to be a beastly eastly all weekend and tomorrow it will puff properly...
That being said , a window will open on Sunday arvie and i think that will be your best option and with a low tide at 14h29 on Sunday , it wouldnt harm to fish on the push...
Spots to look out for would be Glen Gariff beach area as that water temp drops and a piggie may just have your name on it , IF the sea is not up ...nice east choppy water and coldish and you will be in business...
Another piggie playground is left of Cefane towards Bosbok ...could be worth the walk ...
You have a high tide at 07h32 tomorrow and at 08h23 on Sunday ...the swell wil switch from SSwest to a more direct southerly directio as that east gets up to speed...the temp is at around 20 and will certainly drop in the next 24 hours ...
Tidal coefficiency will be at an even 0.5m over a 12 hour tidal period , so , hoepfully no surging is expected...

Good day Folks , this weekend is lining up for a pretty decent fishing weekend...as you look at the synoptic , you can see the coastal low busy passing and the barometer has bottomed out and as that high starts ridging in the glass will start to rise and the wind factor will be almost a non event for both Sat and Sun mornings coupled with an approaching bright moon spring and early AM low tides...
Saturday sees you with a low tide at 08h29 and on Sunday at 09h06...
The water temp is sitting at an even 20 degrees inshore with a 2 to 4 foot swell running inshore and 5 to 7 foot off shore in a South south west direction...there is no surge expected or predicted and the coefficient variance is between 0.5 and 1.5m over a 12 hour period...
BUT...seeing as its leading up to bright moon spring , which is on Monday , still watch as that tide turns on the low and starts to push....
The water is gin clear in most spots along the coast and fresh bait is a MUST...
Poensie and silvers may well be out n about , so be prepared...

Good afternoon Folks , DAMN these systems are soooo predictable at the moment and we once again lining up for a SOLID fishing weekend here on our East coast....
As you look at the synoptic , you can see at 12h00 today that smallish front just off of CT and that high hanging over our coast ...we are coming off of a cold front and the west has tapped off dramatically and the swell has picked up somewhat as that front slipped off to the south...
The barometer will be on the rise by this evening later and tomorrow morning will be a good window as well as Sunday...
Saturday sees you with a high tide at 06h14 and on Sunday at 06h48....
there will be a eastly swell running and the outgoing tide might be a tad slow...spots to look out for would be Cefane beach area as that tide runs out and Glengariff is a good option for the out and the push...
Swell might be a bit up for Haga and surrounds...
as that baro rises the wind will switch to light east on Saturday and then a tad stronger on Sunday ...
We coming off of a bright moon spring so the tidal diffrence in height will be about 0.6m to 1.2m

Everything on paper certainly looks the part as far as conditions go for actually hooking and landing fish this weekend...the water colour , temperature and even the weather systems are lining up very favourably ...BUT...as we all know ...will the fish be at OUR spot ...THAT is the million dollar question....
As it stands on our East coat , the sea is a bit up and with a 10 to 14 foot swell running off shore that only brings a surge and a inshore washing machine ...
That being said , as Saturday approaches the swell should tap off quite a bit , especially towards Sunday in the AM...
Saturday finds you with a low tide at 07n12 and on Sunday at 08h15 , both early morning low tides and this bodes well for those looking for shad on the various points along our coast...
The water temp is around the 18 mark and super super clean , as we approach a dark moon spring , there is already a surge on the sea , so p-lease be aware of that when the tide turns on the dead low...
Well Folks , as these conditions play out the fish should be there....

Afternoon folks , we are moving towards a bright moon spring and this weekend its almost another neap tide weekend , with a high tide at 06h23 on Saturday and at 07h00 on Sunday ....as you look at the synoptics the wind will be pretty light this whole weekend along our coast ....
Its a light west from Sat AM through to Sunday around 17h00 when the west will come through quite stiff as those coastal lows make landfall...
the water is still clear and temp around the 18 mark...
Keep a look out for any surge as the inshore swell is running at between 3 to 6 foot...

Mornings Folks , weel there has been a gap in my forecasts as August has lived up to its name here along our East coast as far as wind is concerned and for about 9 days we had absolutely atrocious conditions...
I was also away for about a week and now Im back in the saddle ...BUT...this coming weekend does not bode to well for any prospect of a good session of fishing...east wind predicated through until Sunday and two pesky high pressures hanging around ...
We also on a bright moon spring and the sea is also up...
Im thinking that Sat morning will be the best window . , will give a firm report tomorrow ...
