Title: trim tAbs

hi guys, i was wondering if some of you guys can help me out. i have ace craft,18'6 with 2 90hp mercs,problem is i dont hav trim n tilt on em and the trim n tilt for each motor is about 15k. would trim tabs do the job out at sea? what would the function be exactly? would it help to lower the bow in a head sea?

My old trim craft was like that, best is to play around with adjustments and find the best all round setting and then keep it there. 1 motor will always be tilted higher than the other.

You must find a trim setting that is good all round and then fix it there, you will have to play around with it a while till you are comfortable.

Another thought, you can contact Antoni at Jentan Marine on Edwin Swales I think he has some used trim units.

I had the same problem - 18'6 Acecraft where I need the bow further down when running
into the sea, even with motors trimmed in fully.
I've put wedges in, but that only helped marginally.
So for a while the only alternative was to send more of the crew forward, but they would take a beating .
Installed trim tabs, worked like a charm (until the pump packed up!).
From my experience, should solve your problem, but be prepared for a heavier fuel bill.
