Post by: kevf on November 05, 2012, 08:39:47 PM
hi guys, first post here, havent had much to add but really picked up some interesting tips. im looking to get a grinder for my 12ft 3oz loomis shockwave. want a multi -purpose reel, shad, garrick, smallish gt and hopefully the occasional size lesser, kob etc. heard alot of good things about the penn battle and wondering what size i should be looking at 5000/6000 etc

:welc: Penn nice choice in the pic you can see the difference between the 2000 and 8000. I would go for the 6000 nice versatile reel and welcome  :uarocks

It's a very heavy reel.  I havent fished the 6000 but have the 5000 and takes a lot of braid, balanced nicely on a 12ft grinder rod.

thanks marthin, ya iv tried a 6000 on that rod and im no expert but it just seemed a little bit big, saying that tho i havent tried a 5000 so not sure of the "size difference" of the 2 reels
