Title: Musandam Log book
Post by: Cam Mundy on August 11, 2012, 03:26:58 PM
Friday saw the first trip of the season for Ocean Actives 40 footer “Al Sayyed”. A nice early start had us leaving the Dibba Marina just as the sun was peeking over the horizon and we were greeted by a beautiful flat sea literally boiling with small skipjack and long tail tuna always a promising sign!

Our first stop was Mogi Reef where we had a school of small GT’s pass through and do their best to obliterate the chisel nose plugs and small Halco poppers we were fishing with, amazingly we never hooked up and the school moved on to harass the inhabitants of another reef.

Our next stop was white rock which was going ballistic with schools of Queenfish, Big eye Trevally and GT’s smashing bait fish. Everyone manned a light flick stick and we were into a solid 2 hours of nonstop action, we eventually stopped for lunch with fish busting all around the boat and just being ignored by  a bunch of tired anglers!

Geez I love that fishy mayhem and the inevitable "koors" on board. Approached with appropriately sized tackle, it's as much fun as a person can expect to have...

I'm off to Linene in a month, hope there's much of the same stuff.

Nice report, keep posting Cam.

Hi Guys heres a few pictures of the better GT's that came out over the weekend. Conditions were a bit rough with bumpy seas and stiff winds but the guys handled it like champions and those that perseverd were rewarded nicely. Top spot goes to Werner with a fat GT of 104 cm which would have weighed in at around 25 Kilo's. Heinrich van Niekerk also gets an honerable mention for his first ever GT which was well over 20 KG.

The Kingfish were also around in big numbers and we had multiple strikes each day but couldn't make them stick, still its always a good laugh watching a big Spanish Mackeral come flying out the water with a popper sideways in its mouth like a dog with a bone!

Till next time tight lines

Cameron
