Hi all
this just quick report ...and some pic's
visited Braams place this weekend - in PTA (this place offers catch and release of trout)
he stocked his dams - and what day it was (we caught quite a few stock fish and also some vvery nice specimans over the 2kg mark - and i put 2 golides to my list )
we got fish on white death as well as the orange egg pattern - ... with a sinking DDD
guys- please fish barbless - these fish are so aggressive they were swallowing the fly.
all in all - a nyc day, great venue, and awesome trout...

stock fish and antoher decent rainbow.... i think my total was 16 fish for the day

thanks Rory ... sorry im not too clued up with fly language ...
but anyway..
i took the egg pattern - and tied piece of line to that with DDD .... and it you right- cause of the water it sank ... slowly.. and i did a nice slow retreive ... sometimes on bottom -where the bigger fish are
or sometimes mid water- where the stock fish nailed it....but they were smaaking the egg pattern...

I'm definately the wrong guy to ask! My browns fishing record reads like a comedy act.... :craz:

Browns are something else QB, from what I have learned they prefer wet flies, rather than dry flies and nymphs...

QB im not sure of places in Gauteng that stock them, I think brookwood might have some but im not sure... They are a lot more finicky with water temps and stuff like that...

Walks - Brookwood only has Rainbow
Leeukloof has nice Browns , got at thorough spanking from one there.

I go to FootLoose Trout Farm as it is just down the road from me. I have been disappointed the past season as they not stocking like they used to but still worth the membership.
Where is Braams Place? What is the cost? and is it catch and release?

braams place - is on garsfontein rd ... once u pass mall, carry on straight down - it be on the right hand side ..there will be a hut with writing -saying fly fishign .....
turn right - gate on left- let urself in...
cost- i think was R120 on weekend ...and R100 weekday...
there are 4 dams to choose from
yes catch n release is offered.

Have caught Brown Trout at GNU VALLEY in the Walkhaven dam on soft Hackles.
PS The white trout at Braams are not Golden trout, they are almost albinos but with dark eyes - known as Leutistic (Similar to the white Lions) see [size=78%]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leucism[/size]

For a nice CnR venue closer to you try Gnu Valley on Beyer's Naude - dirt road opposite the Aloe Ridge turn off R100 per person.
