Title: Pompano
Post by: petercoetzee on June 18, 2012, 04:22:20 PM
Hey guys this isnt a article, its a plea  w;k

Those who know me know that im trachinotus obsessed.  Ive been trying to get a African Pompano for some time now (Trachinotus Arfricanus).

I know some time ago the guys used to get them and Blochii at Mazeppa.  I just got back from a 5 day trip hoping for one with no joy.  Now from all my online trawling I have noticed most frequent catches at three locations;

Linene (Mocambique)

Cape Vidal

KZN South Coast

If you had to choose one location to target them, where would that be ?  (even a spot not mentioned above), and at what time of year?

Thanks guys,

Peter

 :welc: Peter,

Ive caught, and seen them caught regularly in the Salt Rock area.. Just wish i could get one over 2 Kgs !
The north coast (above Durban) I would say is generally better for them, and I would use natural baits, like mole crab (sea Lice) or Cracker Shrimp..

My 2c
