What lures to use when targeting Tuna?

What lure do you guys use to target tuna? Mainly looking for calours. Cant really pull bigger lures on the ski. But would be very interesting to see the what other guys use.

Hey Fritz, I cant say I have found one particular colour to be better than another, but I like the smaller pusher heads and the Jap feathers for them and I found that speed is a key.To get those lure popping every 3-5 seconds. This will keep you in those 5-10kg models all day.
For the bigger Tuna I favour the Aussie runners and Gt tremblers as well as daisy chained squids in about 9 inches.

jap feather red white, the biggest you can get...butI doubt you can paddle that hard for long. rather go with the halco max on the ski

Thanks guys I am curently using some Halco's in the sourcerer and 120's. Soucerer and 120's in the purple candy, sard and one that looks simelar to a mullit with orange belly. In the Rapala range I use I have the X Rap Mag. and their shallow diving counterpart in sardine, blue mac, purple mack, yft and one that looks like a dory that I have not used as yet.
As you said it Jaen I cant keep the speed up to long. I have a one man power moter not a couple 100 horses behind me. I have tried the daisy chains but not in that size and they have brought me lotsa luck with bonnies.

Hopefully I wil get some time this weekend and will most certainly pull him out first.

Hey Fritz for me I like the Pinks for Tuna both in Feathers and the laser pro Helco's (120's upwards)

Forget any skirted lure, there are loads of decent lipped lures around, for the YFT around Durban at the moment (5-20kgs) I would use the smaller 7-9cm Rapala/Halcos. The Yozuri Mag Minnows are one of my best, but you need to up the hook strength if you are using heavier line.
My 16kg YFT two weeks ago was taken on  Rapala Magnum CD7 orange/white.(this is also the most successful Rapala for couta in Mozambique for me)

when we used to get yf in the transkei (many moons ago) the orange/ pearl rap was tops and blue mackrel, in cd14.
 
otherwise jap feather. still the top tuna lure imo.
but you are on a ski so the raps/ halcos are the way to go, maybe with one daisy chain further back as a 3rd rod. as said before, you cant get the others to swim fast anough on a ski 9unless your name in oscar chalupski or matt bowman etc)

Dugongboy, I was at Kings yesterday and pinked the orange an white/pearl XRap Mag up and thought long and hard about it. I ended up leaving it, and now I can kick myself.

Fritz for paddlers lipped lures in any of the bright combinations available today. Best colours in order is Orange (also favoured by Dorries) and then Yellows and Pinks.

If you get ontop of a shoal you will smile if you have a jigging squid available. All day fun.

I had that luck a couple of weeks ago deep of the Bluff and cought them the whole morning on jig. All in the range of 8-10 kg mark. Lost allot of the hooks due to toothy fish taking the jig. Got clever and changed to wire on my hooks and then landed two cuta.
In my opinion those jigs are the best thing since sliced bread.
