Here follows a comprehensive Photo Tutorial an how to Service a Stella 10000FA.

WARNING: Do not try this unless you are accomplished with servicing reels!
A spinning reel as complex as this one is nowhere near as easy to service as a Multiplier. It has hundreds more parts and is not easy.

The Schematics:

When re-assembling, make sure that the notches align here, otherwise the Anti-reverse won't work!

wow..now that is complicated...only the master could do that Tutorial..well done..

just one thing how often should you service the drag washers....and would you use cals grease on them

Mussels, depends on how often you use them and how many fish are caught...

I service my reels after every trip.

By the way, the Drag Service is a tutorial all on it's own... !! I would definitely use Cal's grease or a good Teflon grease on the Drag washers.

Hahhaa SS, Yes, This reel needed a service badly. It has a special place in my heart!
It spent 30mins at -20m on the bottom of the sea floor just off the coast of Mafia Island, Tanzania! (Attached to the rod!) In my stupidity, I managed somehow to throw the whole lot overboard!! We managed to retrieve the kit after a deft and skillful freedive down to 20m by our Skipper! Later the same day, it went on to catch my PB Kingfish of 40kg. When I got back to JHB, decided to give it the loving care it so deserved! Hahaha - true story!

Excellent Reefman, thanks very, very much. You have posted a concise and in depth guide to doing the job properly. I normally just go for it and figure things out as I go. Of course over the years I've made my fair share of mistakes, lost parts etc. The fact that you took the time to label every part is for me personally very helpful, at least now I know what they are called... Thanks again. OH! By the way you did a great job servicing that reel... lol.

Thanks for the tutorial but I don't think I'm brave enough to attempt it myself.
My 20000 FA has never been taken apart and serviced, is there anyone in Jhb that can do it?
Also are parts available for the FA series.

Not sure about the parts availablility, the FA is now quite an old model. The agents are RapalaVMC... http://www.rapalasa.co.za/
Alternatively, Craig Neil from CDS Angling services Stella's as well, in Centurion.

This tutorial has helped me a lot with my 10000FA (which actually has quite a strong UA pedigree

) especially servicing the drag stack. I had a problem with the AR bearing early on and managed to get parts through Rapala VMC, well priced and delivered directly to my local tackle store.

Hallo! I'm Matteo, writing from italy. I'm sorry i didn't make any presentation but i cannot find where.

I have a Stella 20000FA without drag knob, a friend lost in in the sea.

Do you know if there is any possibility to find it somewhere? In Italy is impossible i think.

It could be ok also an old anda damage reel to buy, i will need only this.

Hi Matteo. The best option would be to try sellers on eBay. I've looked and have not found the particular drag knob but I have found many other Stella knobs. So mail a few of the sellers and ask them to look out for one for you.

Hi there Gents,

amazing tutorial.
I am aware this is an old thread but Im hoping anyone could assist me on where i may be able to get a 20000fa serviced in the Eastern Cape (properly serviced) as im am not exactly confident in our local tackle shops servicing abilities. I generally service myself but even with this perfect tutorial i have not the balls to open a stella.

Advice would be greatly appreciated.
