If you come more than 3 times a year it's worth getting an annual license. And in this case YOU WANT your name and passport numbers as you may visit other places and use the same license...
Why don't you broker some licenses for the guys Pre-trip? Meet on the way exchange the bucks and docs and sorted. Just an idea.

Would be happy to help whenever I can...

People just need to send me a scan of the passport and if I'm around I'll be happy to assist... just let me double check with the Fisheries Department if a license paid in Maputo is valid in Inhambane for example (no reason why it shouldn't, but you never know)...

Hi
We're a bunch of guys that are going to fish 4 different areas in a month.
Does anyone know how the licensing works for fishing and launching, will one licence for fishing cover the whole mozambique, or are they confined to provinces, towns?
Thanx Ian

Hi Ian,

Not really sure about what you mean by licenses for launching. Is it what we call the Navigation License - issued by the INAMAR (or local port captain)? If that's the case then once you get it it should be valid for the other locations...

Fishing licenses... there seems to be a bit of confusion (even within the fisheries department) about this one... I pay an annual license and use it all over although it is written and they assume you'll be fishing only in one province (in fact it makes sense - one province can not issue a permit regarding activities on another province). But, the legislation and the rules are same everywhere so.... anyway, I only carry the one license and never had a problem....

I think you should get one license and present it in another province and tell them you've payed already...

Tight lines!

Thanx John F, not really a launching permit, just a permit for the boat, jetski, kayak, which I guess applies the same as the fishing licence then.

Thanx for the help

Hi Guys,

I know this is an old topic and excuse my ignorance but I do wish to do the right thing here!

I will be in Mozambique for a few days in September and I am keen to throw a line from the beach. Do I need to purchase a permit for that? Or is it only boat fishing that requires it?

Thanks in advance,
Roachy
