Launched early last Saturday morning. Pulled a rapala next to the reef, had a good pick up that swam over the reef. Tried to pull it and lost the fish between Moya and the reef. Thereafter the shad were wild. Wouldn't leave the rapala alone, some were over the 400mm mark, but many were smaller. Eventually got tired of tusselling with these creatures.
Will launch early tomorrow again, and pull a small mackeral on one rod, and a rapala on the other. Heard there are a few small couta around. Don't think that the snoek will feed as they normally like a chop on the surface. Westerly winds expected tonight will fatten the sea surface. Perhaps Sunday might be a better option for snoek with the easterly winds being expected.
Shad should still be around so you wont go home empty handed, bigger fish like a sardine fillet on drift.

Great info, thanks. Some couta came out last week end as well. I will now also take tackle for shad!!

Wish I knew the name of the rapala I used, but cannot remember. Isn't one of the local type, I bought it early last year and never really tried it out until I saw that Markus at Stealth has one. Told me that it is one of the better rapala's especially for snoek, so I tried it, and boy was it good. Every throw I had a fish, Eventually got so tired of catching fish I stopped using it and passed the rod over to a friend who picked up where I left off. All the guys out there too wanted to know what rapala it is, but need to see one agin in its pakaging to put a name to it. I'm so damn good I even put a hook through my little finger. Between us out there we did a little surgery and managed to get the hook out after flattening the barb, and tugging with a set of pliers. Really need to invest in a good set of side cutters. Not the first time this has happened. Got one once through the side of my leg.

We are members of the Paddle Ski Club. So we park on their grounds behind locked gates.

Ouch!!
I will take a selection with. One of my favourites is the Halco Sorcerer series . Especially the purple one. Even caught Mackerel on them.

Visited Kingfisher on Saturday to check out the rapala. They are called 'Duplex"using the blue/white coloured one. Damn, got the hook through the other finger again on Saturday. Decided to remove the trebble hooks and fitted single. Caught 1 small shad only on it. Obviously the trebble hooks are the reason for the action of the Duplex. Will refit them, and invest in a good set of side cutters, and rather catch the fish, and cut the hooks free when I'm snagged. Hooks are really sharp, so they go through the skin of the finger quite easily. Again, shad were thick this week-end, just wish the shad would stop jumping around whe the hook has snagged me. Wouldn't be so damn sore.

Wish I could, but "die Baas van die Plaas"won't allow me time off, but definately will be out on the week-end. Hope the kayak will float me in that swell.

Went to the Ski club on Sunday @ 5h30 but did not feel well, Andree launched and "played" with the Dolphins behind the reef. The log book at the club indicated lots of shad caught and one cat face rockcod of 40cm.

We'll be going to Umtamvuna (P.Edward) on Saturday morning for the week end. Hoping to do some trolling and spinning in the estuary and some shore fishing for  Shad and maybe that ever elusive Garrick.
