So it is 2012 … and I am finally able to sit down and wright  a Report for December.  Fishing has been  good but the weather sadly has not been.  With strong NE’s blowing and swells getting up  to 3 meters, conditions have not been the greatest but we managed to get in 20  days of Fishing through December. Catches range from  :dor: to  :yft: , with the  odd Snoek (Well done Strandloper)and some smallish bottoms.  The  :sailf: proved to be my Achilles-heel this season, with the longest hook up  lasting a mere 5 minutes before throwing the hook…however have had a good few  hits!  For most part, the Tax Man left me  alone with only 2 fish being taxed, both of which were Bonnies.  I did find that the  :dor: have not gone wild  as yet, but there are good signs that the season is only just starting - with  some reports of  :cout: coming out of Durban,   things are looking good!  It took  a quite a while for the water to warm up to over 24 deg. this year, but is now  well over the 25 deg. mark on No. 1, with some patches getting up to over 26  deg.  Fishing has been hard and we had to  work hard for the fish we caught.  I have  had some great company on the boat and got to meet some really great guys and gals;  even had some old friends from school on board that I have not seen in the past  15 years!  It was also great to have  Strandloper and Viskop on the boat again…(Well done on the Blue bottle Viskop.. can't say i have caught to many of them :crzy   they also helped encourage FA to take a dive  from the bow off his new lady … Fat Girl … Mike, you are a great sport!!! … Strandloper,  you need to now go and get some backups of that Spoon of yours, just in case  you lose that one!  So, let’s recount…we  have had Bonnies,  Garfish,  AJ,  Snoek and some Sand Soldier’s with that lure;  next time I think we should target a Sailie  with it!
Dorries have been caught on the trawl and with pitch baits.  I found a couple of Fads but they have been  very quiet.  Most of the  :dor: have been  caught close to No 1; with the  :yft: just outside the harbour.  We have also had a couple of Whale Sharks  hanging around on the inside of No. 1 and I have had the pleasure of them  around the boat a few times.
I also had a charter up in Jozini and managed a couple of  Small Tigers - biggest being about 2 Kg.   The weather was hot, very hot, with the dam’s water temp. peaking at  38.8 deg. the one day!  Dam level was  down to 63%.
So all in all a really good finish to the year and to  recapture:  Fish caught this December  …  22  :dor: , 5 :yft: , 9 Bonnies,  1 Snoek, loads of Snappers, 1 Zebra, a couple  of Trigger Fish, oh, and 6 Tiger Fish!
Thank you to all my clients who made this excellent fishing  possible!
