I hear you mate ... so just to add insult to injury. We off to Zanzibar for Easter. Will take a spinning rod or two with and have a throw with some light spoons and plugs ... shits and giggles stuff but makes the beer taste so much sweeter when you go tight! Even if just a smally one ... Would love to do a full day but at $1000 a pop ... reckon those cats are smoking some serious seaweed bru.

Reefz, can I tie this knot from 50lb braid into 20lb leader and 10lb braid to 15lb leader? Or should I tie something different?

50lb braid mainline to 20lb leader??? That doesn't make sense. Why use a much weaker leader?

You can use it for 10-15 leader connection, no problem...

Ok cool Reefz, its that 20lb half fluoro leader from Yozuri, the line I showed you at kosi with that big diameter, it says 20lb, but it feels like .55...

Gonna practice this knot tonight... Sufix 832 was a bit out of my budget so I got Viros, hope it will be ok  :cnfzd

Out of curiosity, would one be able to use this knot between backing braid and mainline nylon on multipliers used for R&S (Medium yo Heavy gear)? Looks like a strong knot and way easier to do than a Bimini, is it not(<-- spot the punn... :hehe: )

I suppose you could, but don't think it will be nearly as strong as the Bimini-CatsPaw connection...?

No idea. :dunno:  Maybe, in the name of research, I should add this knot to one of my medium/heavy setups for December. Try it, test it and report... :dunno:

Do you really want to hook a fish that pulls you into the braid and have it bust off?

I fully understand what you are saying but, if it works for the guys using it with a spinning setup (braid to nylon), there should be something to this knot. Or am I being difficult again...

You're being difficult... again!  :+
Huge difference in targetting max 20kg fish on a spinning setup as opposed to 100kg+ sharks bro!

Mooi HD! It's strong and so easy to do! Compared to Bob Sands knot etc... can do it in 1/10 of the time.

When you do the 3 turn Figure 8 around the braid, do you do it around the tag end or the loop side?
