Zimbs, the 8000 is almost identical inside to the 10000, it's an amazing piece of technology!
It just takes patience and good organizing skills to sort them out!

Hi there, I have a couple of Stella's which after about a years usage I gave to Gani's to send away to service (apparently they send it to shimano SA, probably the distributors I guess)
I have a 8000FA, 10 000sw which I sent away as i knew there had to be some salt building up after some heavy use.
After receiving back the reels, they are very smooth, BUT buch more tight than what they were. To explain if i spun the handle before it would go around 7-8 times by itself it now only does about 3. Obviously they opened the reels, and regreased them and whatever.
But what did they do to cause them to be so tight, I guess it won't be a problem when I'm jiggin when i'm putting in effort, but it just seems that they're not functioning like the did when ou the box?
Want some advice as to what could cause this and what can I do about it? I fear to open then as there are just millions of pieces.
Hope you guys can shed some light
Thanx
Ian

Ian did they replace any parts? If not, then it's probably just a low viscosity grease used on the gears that's causing the "tightness". Don't think it's anything to worry about. As the grease heats up through use, it will become 'looser'. But if you're worried about it, phone up VMC Rapala and ask them what they did and why... would be interesting to find out...?

The one reel seized during Jigging, the worm shaft was buggered, they replaced that free of charge. The others were just basic service, so no changing of parts.

I also thought it was probably the grease, i'll probably use them on my next trip and see how it goes.
Thanx for the reply
Ian
