Hey Iceman.

 :welc:

For Karanteen, I use a this trace, with no 6 or no 8  hooks (baitholder hooks with the barbs on the shank) with a small piece of Tjokka or sard.

Try using a small spinning stick with light line... Great Fun !!!!

Iceman Karanteen are a lot of fun to catch especially on the light tackle. The ideal trace would be the one posted I use this as well, the Karanteen cant resist a float bait... I would reccommend using a 6-8 foot rod small coffee grinder, light line (2kg) a small red and white float, split shot, size 8 hook and a small piece of sardine and chokka...  :tite

Saw a guy once with a 6wt fly rod, floating line with 2m leader / tippet.
Tied a bit of sard on a very small hook (very thick with cotton to absorb the flavours ) and then he went ballistic when a strepie picked him up.
It was a huge tussle that had to be seen to be believed.

Same principal, small hook, light line, floating off the surface.

Periwinkle and redbait are also deadly.

Iceman use a cast net, its much easier. Then use your karanteen as live bait for bigger fish boet.  :rck"

Only one trace - christmas tree, 2 small hooks and the sinker must be a spark plug.

:hyst: :hyst: :hyst:  - I grew up using spark plugs.........does the job and cost effective as well.
