depending on how deep you trieng to anchor it might just not work that well.
Fritz I will be anchoring in about a meter of water maybe 1.5-2, on the edge of the prawn banks at high tide... What do you think?

Walkerskiller, should be fine in that depth, just let out more rope so the angle from boat to anchor is less.
A bad days fishing is better than sitting at home moping.

With Maxim I used to work with a ratio of 2.5 times line then the depth of water. If that does not hold in 2m of water then the wind is blowing to hard.

Guys just thought about it now and I probably will not have any time to get to a boat or hardware store before I go down to PE and I am there for a limited amount of time so heres my question...

Would I be able to tie the rope directly to the anchor for a couple of days before I get to a hardware store? Would this work and what could go wrong?

Probably not. It probably won't hold. The chain is there to keep the anchor down.
If you are anchoring on sand, it won't hold at all
If you are anchoring on rocks, it may get stuck

Those anchors really aren't great! Fine for emergency but not general use.

These boats floats incredible easy you will find that in a slight breeze you will be going downwind. At Beline on the lagoon on an incoming tide there was now way that I could stop the engine otherwise it was just swept away. So to keep steady it in a current you are going to need some could anchoring. As for the weight 300kgs is a lot the motor is about 18Kgs the battery 30Kgs so lots of space left.
