Converting a standard New Zealand rig to a three fly setup is quick and easy. There are
other variations and techniques to tie up three fly rigs, some of which are complex and
time consuming. The technique illustrated here is quick and easy and can be converted
back to a two fly rig in a flash. This system illustrated here is known as a Revolving
dropper, the fly can actually revolve around the leader.

The dropper is placed on the loop to loop connection. The two surgeons loops knots will
prevent the dropper from sliding up an down on the leader.

Step 1:
Create a surgeon loop in a piece of mono. The tag end can be cut to the required length
later. A good length would be around 10cm. Don't make the length too long or the fly
will tangle up the on the tippet.

Step 2:
Hold the dropper loop over the loop to loop connection.

Place the tag end back through the loop.

Pull tight and its done.

Tie a suitable fly onto the tag end, and its ready!

I Normally just add another fly behind the point fly. The only time I use a dropper is when I use a emerger of some kind. I like the revolving dropper idea especially the ease of adding and taking it off.

If we caught fish on every trip, it would be called " Catching". We don't, and that's why it's called "Fishing".
