Great post...just one question that 4/0 big gun hook at the back is rather thin ...have you ever had one of then breaking ???
No fish is to big for the Boksburg bomber..!

No, I've never had a problem with that. The Big Gun is a very strong hook and I seldom go much bigger than 4/0. remember couta fishing is predominantly a light-drag style of fishing and you'd need to apply a lot of pressure to bend or snap a good quality hook. On my live bait traces I fish the VMC Saltwater live bait hook, also 4/0 that has a slightly thinner gauge than the Big Gun and it also works great.

100% Mark ... forcing the razor gang just helps them bite thru the wire + hooks pull as often they are foul hooked. Light drag is the answer. They fight clean and tax is your only enemy.
