Treble hook hoods for large hooks
« on: February 28, 2011, 05:47:18 AM »
Somebody enquired a while ago whether I make hoods for larger sizes  treble hooks.
I battled a while to obtain an acceptable product, but then started using this process
of making the mould.

Perspex pieces, which will form the void in the hood, were cast in polyurethane.
Grooves were cut at the bottom of the Perspex with a Dremel tool  to ensure a firm grip.

Adhesive bee's wax sheet was then wrapped around the Perspex and the silicone mould cast
around that.

After removing the wax, the hood was cast.

The wax provides a very smooth surface and a much more professional finish to the hood.

I will now have to re-do the moulds for the smaller hoods in the same manner to produce  a
better product.

It seems that the process of Research & Development never ends  :sadd
