Naming a boat

[Geno]

Hey guys,

I want to name my boat, what would happen if someone else has the same name for their boat?

I don't want to cheese anyone off by using the same name.

Cheers,

Eugene

Geno , the chances of you been on the same patch of water and seeing a boat with the same name are slim , even slimmer if its the same type of boat and same name, dunno if there is actually a register of all boats currently registered with the names, would make it easier i think.

Hi Geno,
I've seen a few boats that shared the same name. Nobody really likes it but it is not illegal. So, I would say choose a name that you like and the rest is history... Millions of people share the same name... Why not boats?

Mike there is a register but every club keeps there own and it is mostly to control the numbers issues as they are unique. They do not care about the names. At RBAY harbour the Port Control is only interested in your boat number.
