Box your socks of at Lazarus Banks
« on: November 22, 2010, 07:55:04 PM »
Dog tooth Tuna must be the dirtiest fighter of them all if you think a GT is tops go and square up with a doggy. The boat score was lost 16 landed 1, tackle used Tiagra 30. 50.80, and the monster 130 they all got a hiding of note, none of the drag systems on these reels was up to the task to stop the Doggy to wrap you in to the bricks and sticks. The trip was fantastic and I managed to land my sailfish this time, Thanks to Greg (Shaggy)

That is epic! Ma favourite pic: the doggie's jaw held open with two gloved hands!

And how is the colour of the water!

Absolutely excellent Johan - congratulations!

Lazarus banks is not a place for Jigging we have tried it and other boats have done the same with limited success, I personally think that the water is to clear you have a 60 meter water visibility and the fish can see you to wile you jig from the side of the boat. Other than that I don’t know why the fish there is not so attracted to jigs. We used live bait (Bonito and Rainbow-Runners). The fish parted a 130lb line 200lb leaders straighten hooks burned off on the bricks, siezed up duel carbo-teck drag washers

Mike it was an awesome experience, trying to figure out how to land them and what tackle to use. The doggies takes you at about 70 to 80 meters and then he runs with you to the bricks, you got to turn the fish and stop him from wrapping you up, I managed that and landed mine, word record Doggies is waiting down there if you can manage to land it

I hereby forbid you to go on another fishing trip without me. That's incredible Johan, and nobody more deserving of a saily.

you rock man, and your hard work  has paid off big time. Now it is time for a braai so you can tell me everything over a bottle of Jack
