Gosh from rotten looking beginnings to a thing of beauty. Cant believe it is the same boat. That trailer also looks much nicer now.

Spraying finished

Finally got the spraying and keel strips on and she’s been lying transom side up for a few days. Drilled a few holes at the back of the deck and at each bulkhead to see if any water drained out. No water at all!!!


Got her on the trailer and busy fitting consoles, hatches etc

Hi Guys,


just a quick update.


1) Top deck fixed with bonding paste. busy filling any imperfections with HD foam and this will be glassed in and resprayed when all is looking smooth.
2) Console fixed to deck and internal shelving manufactured - Glassed and Flowcote painted.
3) Internal hatches cleaned up, glassed to the underside of the deck and flowcote painted. we have routered an edge to them to ensure there is a neat seal to the hatch lids.
4) False transom altered and fitted into place, busy blending the connection to the top deck with white flowcote. Busy installing the live baitwell and fitting to make sure it is sealed - Using a 10mm perspex window which i had in stock.
5) Anchor hatches glassed internally and flowcote painted.
6) Deck busy being sanded and cleaned up for Flotex, We have decided to bite the bullet and put flotex carpet down - It is the best and will probably last the longest if kept in the shade.
7) Back wet well area - Cleaned up and two layers of glass installed throughout, scupper holes opened up and glassed, flowcote to entire area.


Please could someone advise why the front 'windscreen' on boats is always a tinted perspex? 99% of the time it doesn't provide for vision on a console boat and if a bit if sea water dries on the perspex is becomes impossible to see through.


also looking for advise regarding through hull plugs for the hatches. I would like to install stainless plugs with a bolt but it seems that we cannot get them off the shelf in Durban. The brass ones are available but they tend to corrode and become a mission to install and remove.

Thanks Bru, I am really happy with how the glassing finishes are coming along.


I hope to have her on the water by the end of Feb - But it might be optimistic.
still loads of wiring, fittings, carpets, instruments and inspections to be done.


frothing to get her on the water and see how she rides.


I am a little concerned that the Yammie 100F motors might be a bit heavy for the back, but I've glassed and foamed that area well so keen to see how she sits on the drift.


I'm also going to weigh her pre and post motor installation and compare with the original weight and new weight - I am sure there was over 600 kilos of waterlogged foam when we got her.
