« on: May 28, 2019, 10:33:55 AM »
Got his photo this morning. This is the bend in the lake by the old boat lockers with the town on the right. Silt and reeds sre completely choking the system. Isimangaliso is completely incompetent wrt the managent of the system. We have lost a major natural system.

What a tragedy!! It seems that the easiest way to manage a area is declare it a MPA so nobody can go there and then allow it to deteriorate. They have just released the latest Tugela MPA, what a tragedy, many livelihoods will be affected negatively unfortunately just like at St Lucia!

Unfortunately MPA's don't apply to the locals, the "subsistence" fishermen. So the plundering by them will continue.  Especially seeing as though the policing of fishing areas is restricted to the colour of your skin.
