Believe there were 3 people on board, all are safe.
Not sure what cause the boat to sink.

Lucky not far off Durban harbour entrance, the Cat was pulled out on to the beach infront DSBC, apparently harbour master would not them bring in back through the channel as there is a crack in the hull and they battling to pump water out to refloat it a bit more. Had the photo but deleted it clearing out all the whattsapp junk.

Wow that is sad and scary!

I see you mention a crack, was that the cause of the sinking?

I heard something about the cooling pipe coming off.

Should a boat like that not have flotation to keep it afloat in times of sinking?

Very sad.
Either I am fishing or dreaming of fishing!

Its a small yacht all the internal space space will be taken up by engines and berths there's no room for traditional ski boat style flotation. you need to rely on water tight bulkheads to limit the spread of water seems like this boat had a pretty serious hull failure.

Spot on

The hulls being positive buoyancy should have had  water tight bulkheads and adequate bilge pumps for seaworthy so  either no bulkhead and inadequate bilge pumps or a massive hull failure

I doubt it was hull failure, it could be but not likely.

Inboards have lots of other ways for water ingress and three serious problems could easily sink the boat without hull failure.
 - A broken exhaust that bilge pumps will not keep up with
 - The water intake for the cooling system could also break below the valve and let serious water in
 - A shaft can pop out and water will fill fast through the stern tube

With any of the above problems if you do not act super fast or pick up the problem too late the boat will sink as they are all at the stern where the engines are and this will bring her down much quicker than you can imagine.
