So I bought new bearings... What now ???
« on: October 30, 2018, 12:38:00 pm »
Good day Gents...

So I bought new bearings for a TLD25...  New bearings are sealed, filled with grease...

Do I use them as is until the next service, and only open up the seals with the next service??  Or do I remove the seals NOW, replace current grease with corrosion blocker grease ??

Thanks

Remove the seals.

EDIT: the RH side plate bearing for some reason is the first to go on the TLD's most of the time I only replace those, so the other bearings could be fine?

If you like doing things yourself and making sure, then ja open them up now and do them with Corrosion block. If you can reseal them, that's cool, but if not, no problem either. You can inspect them so much easier without seals.

Ceramic Abec 5 bearings available from Smoothdrag.com USA. Ceramic bearings last longer than Stainless, but are more expensive and sometimes noisier. There is no discernible feeling difference between stainless and Ceramic. You won't notice a difference.

Bumping up spool speed with faster bearings will mean you need to increase your thumbing skill suggest to static mag the reel
