Badly corroded Slammer.
Just shows... "waterproof" reels do not exist. Maintenance is CRITICAL!

Now is not a good time to go fishing... said nobody... EVER!!

Van Staal and Okuma might disagree.. :)

But that reel in the pic is just negligence. If the reel gets dunked, it need to get serviced after the session. If its doesnt get dunked then a periodic service.

Have a look at Jonathan's page. There are some messed up fishermen out there. Complete disregard for equipment..

Not really, every reel is different.

If you want to do the minimum service, then you need to get to the bearings of your reel and service those. They are the first things to corrode, so if you can lube your bearings often, then you should be good.
