:welc:  I was at St Lucia a couple of weeks ago.... with the wrong tackle apparently!
If you are into spinning and dropshot, read Steenie's "A learning experience" for some great tips for that area. http://www.ultimateangling.co.za/index.php?topic=19189.0
I went armed with fast metal spoons but apparently plastics and bucktails fished slower are yielding better results.

:tkx: CRANKMAN !  and all the other contributors  in  http://www.ultimateangling.co.za/index.php?topic=19189.0

I have all sorts of questions and I'm hoping to get any of them answered here where all the experts congregate...
Fresh bait ? baiting techniques
Spoons ?Weather conditions?
What is recommended in this area? I am trying to gather as much knowledge as possible prior to going there

Fishing spots in and around St Lucia , I've heard that fishing in the St Lucia estuary  can be very productive....

Every little bit of advice is appreciated

Fishing in St Lucia estuary used to be very productive... not any more. Since the estuary dried up completely the last 2 years, ALL the fish died (as in EVERY one!), and since then, the estuary has filled up with fresh water. It hasn't broken through to the sea in a long, long time, so the only fish in the estuary will be freshwater species.

Some updates of St Lucia
Dolphin Sentrum is no more - they are busy doing upgrade for Checkers.
Road closed to the estuary side, last place to stop is the Ingwe beach can not go any further
Building at Sugar loaf jetty is demolished,
Fishing was not very good, I did manage to catch a nice size large Spot Pompano (wave garrick) and a eel
Wife caught one sand shark and 2 small rock cods which was return safely to the waters,. ( accept the Large spot )

Nice to see there is still Rhinos walking on the Cape Vidal road

Note : Date and time is wrong on the camera

There is activity at Winkels - South coast - Shad is still coming out and the Garrick is on the run

Unable to do any kind of fishing sugar loaf
Only fresh water species, Kurper was one species that was caught at the lake by locals at the main jetty
