Inhaca May 2018
« on: February 22, 2018, 09:14:05 am »
Good morning everybody
Will try again with a new post as I do not knew were the previous one disappear. I'm BC in connection with computers. :hehe:
As stated previously I a new member with a lot of questions and even more fishing expectations.

A couple of us decided over a geelbek braai  :frid  that Inhaca is  to be our next trip. Tired for doing bottems every holliday
Booked a camp at Ross Ramos for 8 guys from 25 April 2018 to 2 May.
We will be taking my 7m kanya mono with 2 x 115 etec .

Got a few questions to bother you guys with.
-is the safety equipment list still the same as what was  mentioned in a previous post about Moz safety equipment.
-when Launching out of Maputo harbour, which club/launch slip is to be used? safety of vehicles  paramount concern.
-after all the paperwork has been done. what is the procedure for leaving the harbour?. radio call , launch register ect.
-referring to issue of high tide low tide do you follow a certain route or straight line?
-Is fuel available on Island or must we make provision for bringing with.
- speaking of fuel what is the average distance for fishing reefs around Inhaca as we will be targeting mainly cuta/ dorado. :dor: :cout:

Appreciate you feedback and will keep everybody informed about progress.
greetings
Pumbaa

Pumba, you will enjoy Inhaca. It is not so complicated to do all the paperwork etc. Make sure your documentation is correct for the Border. Proceed the to Inamar and enter and park at the back and carry out your inspection, equipment required as stated on the forum. Proceed to "Escola da Nautiqa" pay your launch fees, show police your docs and passports etc and launch, plan on 2hrs either side of High Tide and 3hrs if it is Springs. Vehicles are safe here and it costs about R100 a day parking and couple hundred to Launch. If you launch as stated, you can proceed direct for Ross Ramos, plan to arrive on a pushing tide as it is easiest. Fishing grounds distances from Inhaca vary a lot and depends what you want to target etc, but probably looking at 120km a day plus if you want to fish the whole day. Fuel is available on the Island and you can also take from Maputo, but dont overload your boat, this crossing can be trecharous at times! Best times are around Spring tide and it seems you have planned it this way and also your high tide for launching looks good at around 1300 and about 0600 for leaving. if you want more information, send me a PM and I will point you in the right direction.
