Hi Lgf, milling is not essential here. For those of us sans a lathe etc, use of a grub screw as in your drag setup would suffice for a collet other side of the spool instead of the shoulder. Hell, if one looked around your garage I am positive something can be improvised. It is a leaker spoiler and simple though
Will see how the next version pans out, maybe then. I needed one and couldn't wait so I made one, not sure if there's a huge market for this, but perhaps there's a bloke here or there that would like one, so I will most definitely consider that.

I know the quality of your work, so if I'm going to buy one, it will be from you! Perfectionists unite!I think the crossbar just needs to be longer in order to accommodate one of those big 1000m spools of braid. The spool alone is about 12 -15cm wide.A milled version would be first prize for me.... don't want grub screws stripping out over time?
This is the uber sophisticated jobbie I occasionally use. Comes as a package, old broken baitcaster as reel holder and part of tensioner mechanism. The spooler part is an old piece of dowel that fits all spools and the collets come with built in drag system. Can apply up to 30 pounds drag pressure too. The inherent design flaw here is the heat build up. This is generally overcome using a spray bottle to cool things down. I will possibly make improvements with a view to marketing online Occasionally use a willing victim to assist when heat exchange is not under control though
