LGF's Interim Dragon Fly
« on: February 08, 2017, 08:51:28 pm »
Finally finished with all the house chores the Boss lined up so herewith the long awaited pictures of my own interim Bass fishing platform.

Got it for what must be the bargain of the century. The main and the trolling motor for that matter are virtually new, no need to crank the engin, tap the key to the right and she's silently purring with the smoothness of a baby B-hind, every time. It's clean, no residue anywhere to be seen, standing under a cover for the last two weeks and even after I had her out twice now. There are some very very small scratches and really very few of them.

Got two basic fishfinders, Humminbird and Lowrance, two brand new Optima deep cycle and one Deltec cranking battery with, buoyancy still valid for almost 5 years, trailer is road worthy and licensed, galvanized and had two new hubs fitted in Jan with a spare tyre that is as new as the two on the trailer.

It has a huge live-well that is fully automated and can airate and/or recirculate live-well water or fresh water from outside the boat or both. I can easily fit all 20 of my rods in the rod locker although it becomes a little tricky if one wants to use the rod at the bottom, an issue that is eliminated by only packing half of them! :craz:

Bargain? Well it was initially advertised for R77k and I picked it up for R52500. Just the Yammie on the back in the condition that it is would have set me back around R48-55k, trolling motor (70lbs foot controlled Motorguide) new costs around R19k, batteries, trailer, etc etc. call it what you will, up here it's a BARGAIN even more so as I know  the boat, been fishing with and against it for the last 4 years!

Oh and I forgot to mention, a huge lot of brand new spare parts that include but are not limited to , 2 impellers, two sets of trailer bearings, 3 Yamaha fuel tank connectors, a set of spark plugs other little Yamaha parts still sealed like link-rod coupler heads, fuel filters etc etc

Here's some pics of the main motor.

Thanx Guys

Ziggy, I hear you and thanx for the compliment she is a very nice rig but she is currently running @ 95% of being an Interim platform, She takes moderate chop and wakes very comfortably whilst doing her 60 odd k's/h, although one has to tap down on the throttle a bit, BUT and even the guy that owned her for the last 6 years and its crews for the said period said she is just just too narrow . This is no lie, she really is just a little narrow and is not as stable when one is trolling along and wakes from other craft reaches her and makes one do the funky  :yipee:.
Then there is the small rod locker and just the one, so any crew has to have their rods on the back which isn't all that huge to start with.

So the Phantom is still a "GO" and besides I have done everything on the Dragon Lady that I possibly could to make her EASY :hnthnt: :rotfl and I cannot sit and watch 7de laan knowing that time really flies at my age!!!!

Lekker bud... I was seriously beginning to doubt the existence of this boat. I also had imaginary friends when I was young  w;k
Forgive me Father for I have spinned... It's been three weeks since my last cob session.
