"Vintage" Penn reels service
« on: June 12, 2016, 10:53:31 AM »
Hi there,
I am from Secunda, Mp and was hoping that you guys can point me into the direction of someone/place that can give these boytjies a service and an overall?

These were last used some 25 - 30 odd years ago on my fathers ski boat. I dusted it off, stripped the line and figured they needed some attention.

I was thinking of replacing it with 30 - 40lb and 50lb mono. Any suggestions?

Secondly, when I bought the boat I received 2 casting multipliers that the previous owner used for trawling as well.
Will it be fine if I continue using it for trawling?

What is your opinion about the boat we bought for using it at e.g R-bay, St Lucia or Sodwana? As far as my info goes it is a Trimcraft Wahoo 5.5.

I am new to the boating and deep see fishing so all advice would be appreciated!!!

The top row of Penns are incredibly easy to service Provided you have the Penn Spanner that came with them and they have not rusted solid just take them apart clean them and relube them.

Hi Cam, all the reels do have their own spanners. Maybe I should try the smaller Jigmaster first and see whether I dont stuff it up.

Rory, Thats just the thing, on the COF & buoyancy the Manufacturer was written down as Trimcraft Wahoo, but nowhere on sites like gumtree and olx can I find a similar looking hull that says just what it is....
Surprisingly the net doesnt show any related info and I cant find any info on any similar looking hull.
