X flock/ heatshrink
« on: February 23, 2016, 09:05:06 PM »
Hey Guys,

Anyone know where I can get some red X flock,  looking for 35 or 40 mm? To use on my bass rods, need about two meters.

Thanks in advance....

The grips that you have on your surf rods, has an X patttern on them also called japanese x wrap shrink tube , maybe the correct name for it...

Thanks, could you slide it down over the eyes to sit above the reel on a baitcaster rod, to create a grip??

saw some at Basil Manning. different colors too. just note it comes in different sizes. although it states to shrink by 50%, you should effectively allow for a 30% shrinkage to make it fit nice and tight.

this should help in working out what size you need. take the OD of your grip you want to cover, and you can add 30% to see which ID size you need to get. just keep in mind if you are going to use it on an already made rod, you need to decide if you going to bring it over from the top or the bottom, and accommodate for the largest OD point.
