Articulated Sand/pink prawn

I have been playing with a fly for a while to get to something that will look realistic in the water.[/size]This is only a proto-type and will still be tweaked a bit until I am really happy.

That looks VERY realistic.
What material did you use for the body?

Sculpting fibre in beige, you can also use craft fur.

Very nice Brian.

That photo background is very familiar to me and makes me homesick.

I lived in old place for many years.

Either I am fishing or dreaming of fishing!

Haven't fished it yet. But am sure it will deliver with a bit effort.

On Saturday I took the fly for a spin, hunting Grunter in Sedgefield.
I had a few follows and enough hit to be confidant that the fly would do the trick.
The fly would best be fished on intermediate line and should be weighted if fished on floating line.
The next batch i would wight to make sure the fly sinks to the bottom faster and returns their after being stripped.
I feel that a fly that sits on the bottom is more successful for grunter, but that is a debate for another day.

Wow some real talent, well done.
A plate full of those with a glass of crisp dry white wine would go down well  :-) :-) :-)
A bad days fishing is better than sitting at home moping.

look great how does it sit at rest with the hook point down? I'm no expert on fly fishing but I've always found crab patterns to work best if they are off the bottom a bit and cast a shadow.
