Mark, quick one for you bud... on the downrigged baits when slow trolling or drifting, how do you pin the livie with the treble? Any reason for not using a circle here?

@Shau: I think the treble is to cater for the toothy gang... so one should pin the bait way back like you would when targeting couta. One can use a circle but will probably get plenty of bite offs

Mark thanks for sharing your knowledge we pretty much use the same technique but for the down rigged bait.

How do you keep the bait at a certain depth without it dropping all the way down, as the reel would be pretty much on freespool or do you keep that one in hand ?  :tkx: in advance

The summer gamefish are starting to arrive and the dorries are making an appearance off Durban and a few even here down south. Time to dust off the summer lures and gear and get rigging. I'd recommend those of you who haven't fished the small plastics with squid strips technique for dorado to give it a bash this season - you may be pleasantly surprised  w;k :fshn: :dor: :dor: :dor:
