Going down to Cape Town in December blouberg area would like to do some spinning any recommendations and areas what species should I be targeting ? Looking forward to any advice

Get yourself onto an inshore charter and do some world class light spinning for yellow tail even snoek and maybe you get lucky with the correct winds and there can be yft at the point.
From the side I only know of Rooikrantz

rather do as Prego mentioned,much better chance to catch something.But if you want to give it a bash from the side in Blouberg area,rather go to Melkbos.As you drive into Melkbos turn left towards the beach,when you reach the beach-road turn left and immediately right into the slipway parkinglot.To the right of the rocks,casting towards the kelp beds might be a place to spin for Kob,preferably in the early morning or evening.December is very busy with beachgoers so don't hook a Vaalie...

Mates of mine (Rob and Gary) went outside the point yesterday and got these nice fish... One of 53kg and one of 85kg...

Cape Town is continuing a very good season with all the signs showing no let up.
Water temp in False Bay is between 14 and 17. Depending on the winds, the yellowtail will be found from the Bellows through to Fish Hoek. Wednesday and yesterday saw some good treks in those areas. When the tail are in the bay then it seems as if they are also out on the current line - but the area in between is vacant due to the cooler temps.

Snoek are back at Rocky Bank with the price dropping from 80 to 25 per fish showing their abundance. Comms are up to 100 a man.

Tuna are plentiful with big strong fish spread over a wide area. Green, cold water is almost out to the canyon, but as soon as you hit the 17 degree or more blue water, there are plenty of fireworks with lots of fish on top busting bait. We were out yesterday trying for some IGFA small fry records which we missed by a few kgs but nevertheless managed 6 yellows, some longies and even a stray yellowtail on a large pink squid. Also managed to release quite a few fish. The kids were fishing 15 and 24kg so fight times were a bit extended. All the fish were in the same bracket between 50-65kgs. At one stage, every time we stopped, we put in a bait, a few strips and vas!

With no immediate major change in the forecast, it looks like a good time will continue.

Thanks for that report Tim.. Great fish!! the young guys must be stoked!!

Gav on Mac Diver just told me he got 8 fish in quick succession on the 24 & 10 the headed home... they would have been fishing heavier tackle so fight time not so long....

Got Report for Alphards - 20deg, clean and some tail - shoal size 4 - 8 kg - I am sure the bigger ones are there too. On the SST there is 23 deg water 20miles south of the 45's - we need a bit more SE and the we will be styling!!

Yesterday was busy off the point but the guys I have spoken to only had a few Yellows and LOTS of longies. In fact Anton (02Fish) only boated longies and Mac Diver got 1 yellow so seems the fish have moved about a bit or they guys I called and dodgey fishermen! Tim any news your side?

The weather for Agulhas is incredible for the next 3 days and spoke to Salti ( Struis ) not 10 mins ago and NOT A BREATH of wind!! and here I sit in the DRC, Thursday afternoon is forecast to blow but as I am back mid next week I will be hoping for some more of the same of today and tomorrows weather!

I saw that Marthin... we need a bit more SE to blow that 23deg water a bit closer to the Alphards...I wonder what the colour of that warm patch at Plett is...

How does the snoek pricing work...?

I read that snoek was plentifull and that prices had dropped,had a snoek braai Saturday evening,small +-400mm snoek cost R80,got a big one for R140,and that from a bakkie not a shop...
