Nice trace, does one really need to use a leader with all that steel?

a leader adds strength to your tackle and would add more drag in the water and especially in the transkei you need all the help you can get...it would also help with abrasion as your mainline would part alot quicker than your leader would...ask pieterh what happens when you dont fish with a leader  hyst

nice trace Jason!

I have moved away from the 440lb wire as i has 2 swim baits drown cause of the drag!
What your opinion on the matter?

I agree for the smaller swim baits like milkies. Every single time I have swum a fish in the Kei it has been eaten within 5 minutes.
For the smaller baits like milkies, smooth hounds I would rather use 3 x #7 like Tony posted above.
