New range of Suzuki 2 strokes

  ... has anyone got any more info on these , i see they are on the global website , but not on the suzuki sa site, looking at getting the 30hp fitted to an Amberjack 420....any feedback much appreciated ,thanks Mike.

Hi Mike Pike,
                 I heard that 2 strokes were becoming illegal as they do not conform to the emissions regs. ( I heard this for bikes and quads) do not know if this covers outboards as well. will be interresting to hear from the manne in the know.

Hi Two Stroke engines have not been banned but they do have to conform to emmision standards
the main standard is set in the states which also happens to be the biggest market for out boards hence the move to 4 strokes

Some manufacturers are sticking by two strokes such as evinrude in outboards  and Husqvana  in bikes both of wich meet and exceed the regulations

Personally I don't think you can beat a two stroke engine even though I'll probably be shot down for saying it.

  BANG BANG      Dont know much about outboards ( had a 30 yamie on my boat years back) but I know those big 4 strokes run really quiet. Thanks for the info Cam Mundy.

kp 11 , yes only 1 motor as should be sufficient to get boat up and running with +/- 2 to 3 onboard with gear etc , only on inland waters though.

Hi Mike are you sure 1 x 30 hp will be enough? espesially with 3 guys and gear 2 x 30 0r 1 x 50 sounds better to me

Spoken to Jean at African Skiff the Amberjack weighs in at 140 kg so its pretty light with 2 up or 3 + fishing gear ,the 30 hp will be ok + its flat inland waters with wind generated chop/swells.

It's frikken amazing how light the new boats are I have a 16ft trim craft in the yard and it 4 or 5 times that.
I suppose worst comes to worst you can add another thirty horses engines just sound better in tandem

True , looked at all the other options on smaller boats and some are pretty heavy which means u need bigger hp to move them with people onboard as well, so it just becomes more expensive.
