Stunning Indian Mirrorfish caught on the small (28 g) couta casting no 1 spoon in pink glow colour. A very rare catch from the shore and a new species for me. Super chuffed! A strong fighter indeed. Released after taking a quick photo.

The only strange one I caught from the shore was an Indian Goatfish, a number of years back, somewhere south of Hole in the Wall. Never seen anyone else pull one out down there.

Interesting catch! On the ORI app they mention that Indian Goatfish are occasionally caught from the shore in Northern KZN and Mozambique. So your catch far south must be quite rare. It is a very common catch offshore from Durban on slow pitch jigs. I have caught a couple of them like that from ski boat.

A beautiful blacktip kingfish on the 30g CID slimbait in clear-blue colour. My goodness, this fish smashed the lure so hard on the surface. I prefer using treble hooks on this lure, but I do squash the barbs to make it much more fish friendly. Inline single hooks did not work well for me. Poorer casting performance, the lure sticks less well in the water during the retrieve, and I lost some really good fish when the shore-break tumbles the fish.⁹

        Can you tell me is the 30. 60 gt  major craft n..one. a lighter more flexible rod
