« on: November 24, 2014, 08:01:16 PM »

A few friends and I are off to mapelane this weekend.
Has anyone got some advice as to where we should fish?
And what sort of fish I should be targeting
Thanks

Welcome to UA Ppasmrf, hope you will enjoy your stay and share your exeriences with us.

Suggest perhaps you change your forum name to something more user friendly, I sukkeled almost 30 minutes to spel the present one.

I am sure you are going to enjoy your visit to Mapies and have some useful information now to make it possible.

Just a hint. Most people drive to Mapelane along the national road toward Pongola then take the turn off leaving about 70 km of the worst disintegrated tar and otherwise dirt road to travel up to 2 hours to the park. Not many are aware of a beautiful tarred road that leads from Richards Bay up to the mine almost right by the park. You have to enter Richards Bay and head towards the airport from where you can ask directions for the road to the mine at Mapelane. It carries big trucks but a pleasure to drive. The drive from Richards Bay to the park is then also only about 1 hour.

Looking forward to your report back and photo's.

If there is still time and you are/can read this, remember to take lots of drinking water (for cooking/coffee) as the water at Maphelane is dirty brown and unfit for human consumption.
