14ft R&S Rod Wanted for Revamp
« on: June 26, 2014, 09:47:41 AM »
Guys

I am in the market for a 14' R&S rod or blank that is a 3 piece and that can handle 8oz, thinking 13'6 might work too.

I client is after one and it's tough getting something like this at a decent price. Or getting a blank locally with the two manufacturers that can't deliver.

So a blank or a 2nd hand rod would do as I could revamp it.

Anyone wanting to sell something like this?

Look forward to your replies.

I think I found something. I am now waiting to hear back from the client.
You can take a horse to the water..... :rain:

I find it very strange how people operate these days.
They ask all sorts of questions, quotes and then you never hear from them because they opt for the el-cheapo fix it yourself jobbies. Or they go and buy the R300-R1000 rod and think it's going to do the same thing.

The other thing they do is ask for help and after you have spend a hole afternoon with them casting ten or more different rods and prove to them that they cast further with the rod you have recommended they deside to go for a longer rod or a bigger stroke only to phone you in six months time to tell you that they are struggling with the longer rod and if it's possible to cut it down to the right length. The bigg problem is that they think a rod that works for his friend is going to work for him. Some people will never be satisfied and always knows better even if proven wrong. Some guys will rather save a few bucks than have what they always dreamed of. Getting a rod done as neet as your work takes time and craftsmanship.

this was a rod that was revamped by a master rodbuilder ... apparently......

Regarding the 'thinks if if works for his friend it will work for him'  I agree , and most guys have the wrong rods , you see they look at the top guys , guys posting loads of pics ect and think its the rod , the sad thing is that most Edible anglers fish Way way to heavy , not because they want to , but because other anglers tell them this is the 'benchmark ' and you will never land that on this rod blah blah . Sure it good to get options and a guide line , but I can only echo what you said Pieter.

@ ET , I know what your talking about , service generally are poor and don't let me go into a the sales pitch efforts of some . It might just annoy as 99% of the time i know what I am after .

The sad thing aboute the suppliers in SA is the fact that one of them only build the blanks by order and the other one has to many red tape to get blanks from them. Yes many guys are fishing way to heavy deu to the bigg shots telling them what the benchmark should be. The fact is that the competitive are fishing for non edds most of the time to chase points. Guys fishing for edds only don't need to fish heavier than a 7oz sinker. Yes it is nice to have a rod build custom for your needs. This will help you to enjoy your fishing even more. The best allrounder rod for me that suits most of the guys are the /3 in the purglas range. Sorry for the hijack et. Still think your work is superb.  We will never win the guys confidence to give them the best rod suited for them. They will always want the same stuff the top anglers have and that is most of the time the reson why many angler don't make it to the top.

Homes I did not post this to get business out of you. I was after a rod or blank.
But if you really want it refurbed, I could be of assistance in September and finish it before you leave for holiday in December.
Right now I am swamped with some builds.
